ICQ is a very early chatting software in the internet but I haven't used it quite a long time. Since MSN will be soon unavailable overseas and my friend doesn't know how to use Skype. So last night I downloaded ICQ in my mobile phone. I think sending a SMS will charge me but it is not free of charge for me to make a call?

I used to use it, but always got confused as back in it's hayday, the only way you could see users identified is by #'s. I recall that being really annoying. I liked the style and how it worked, it was actually a pretty fun messenger. Just very confusing at times.
Could always use Yahoo or AIM?
Honestly. ICQ is probably MORE complicated than Skype.

(I am not saying ICQ is complicated, I am just saying it would probably be more of a hassle than Skype.)

Hi youless, I like to chat with friends or loved ones using wechat on smartphone. It's free and we just need to do a software loading. We can keep in touch with someone texting or voice chatting or video chatting Quite handy and I use it often. We can listen to the voice chat whenever we have time
Happy posting

I installed that software more than 4 years ago but never used it to chat with my online friends so I uninstalled it after I found out that most of my closed friend don't know how to used ICQ, they prepare to used skype, yahoo messenger and MSN.. UserID composed of number series so it's hard to remember when you want to log-in other computers

Youless, more than 10 years ago i ever installed ICQ and chat with my classmates. Nowadays, i don't use ICQ anymore because most of my friends and family prefer YM. I even had forgotten my ICQ code. I prefer to installed YM since it is more easy for them to use for chatting and send files. Why don't you advise your friend to use YM, since it is more like MSN.

i dont know what ICQ is. but either way, you sending SMS and Call is not free... why not use the YM instead. I am not sure if chikka.com is free in other countries. why not try it. it may give you free sms.

I heard about ICQ from the teaching of our textbook years back, but I have never tried to install and use it so far since QQ is the most frequently-used chatting software in our country. Have a good day, youless.

I haven't been on ICQ in over 10yrs! I didn't even know if it still existed anymore. I don't use MSN much I usually use the chat on FaceBook to keep in touch with people. Which is kinda nice because you know who you are talking too, vs ICQ random people constantly wanted to be your friend just like on Yahoo. Not that it was all that bad I did meet some nice people in South Africa who were slacking at work *LOL* Sorry I don't know the answer to your question.
