Begging Is Not Work!

All those who beg believe is that they are entitled to free, easy fast money! What about those who work hard for every cent, take pride on themselves, their family and taking care of what is needed first and foremost! Not everyone who begs needs the money they are generously given! How do you know who has their own place and does not need to be conning others! No one deserves free money, getting a free ride in life. We were not created for that! I know there are people who are not able to work. Begging is not work and should not be compared to working hard at all! There is not similarities between the two. Everyone was put on earth for a reason. How do you handle situations you face daily? Are you going to help someone who really does not need the money? How do you know who really does need it over those who scam people believing they deserve easy money, that they will never work for a dime they are getting? It is not hard or difficult to budget your money! What are you going to do if you help someone to find that they are conning everyone and that they have no need for free money because they have their own place and money of their own? Not everyone likes people who beg! No one should. And if you have to, do it while working on getting back on your feet! DO NOT BEG BECAUSE YOU FEEL YOU ARE OWED FREE MONEY FOR NO WORK! Life is not meant for that! Here, I have seen people getting arrested for begging aggressively, stalking and following people who say no. Assaulting others because they wanted much more than what they were given out of others kindness!

Hi Desertrose and welcome to my lot. Sure there are scammers in the world and don't need what they are begging for. But then there are many that really do need the money and all the help we that are fortunate enough to have what we have. You have to trust your heart and if you feel that they don't need the money don't give. But if they look like they are in dire need it is a good thing to help. I have never begged for anything but know many that have and it isn't an easy task having to ask strangers for help. If they smell of booze and they say they want something to eat if you can offer to buy them something to eat. For those that won't take no as an answer look at them and tell them if they don't leave you alone you will call the law. Do what you think is best trust your heart in your decision. Put yourself in their shoes and if you see that they really need help do what you can even if it is nothing but buying them something to eat. There are dollar menus in a lot of these fast food restaurants . I can remember being homeless a long time ago and I hadn't eaten in several days was so hungry I could feel my tummy touching my back bone. It wasn't as if I wouldn't work it was that no one wanted to hire a homeless person cause of many reasons I guess. Any way I prayed and asked God for a little money so I could get a hamburger and sure enough God did provide money I found it and did eat that day. There are many places that do help those that are homeless but a lot of them places thinks that most homeless people don't believe in God. I have believed in God all my life. I didn't chose to be homeless but through things I could not control I did land up without a home. It made me a stronger person cause of that but I wouldn't want anyone to ever be homeless it is a strange world especially for a woman on the streets alone.

There are some people who are really down and out and who really are homeless. I do know that there are a few homeless men who live under the freeway ramp that is not too far from my home. I will give them a small snack, such as a granola bar. I don't judge them. I don't give to those who look like they are capable of being able to work and who are wearing nice clothes. Nor do I give to those who look like they are traveling. Those people can go out and get a job.
But when I see a person who does look like he or she is really down and out, I give them a little something, just to show that someone CARES. Sometimes, that is what they really need. People who care, so that they can care more about themselves and realize that living under a bridge or a freeway ramp is not the way to live.
There are some people who really have a hard time coping with life, so I don't judge them. If you have never been homeless, you don't know what that feels like. So, we can not judge others.

People who beg are generally Homeless and that is a huge barrier for them to get around. No one will hire someone who doesn't look clean and doesn't smell like they haven't taken a shower in several months. Homelessness is a real Problem in the United States and in other parts of the World.
So they do what they can which is they make a cardboard sign or they make little odds and ends and they sell them. The Few that are musically talented do that to make ends meet and while the later is more to what you would consider your traditional job. The people who have to go and beg for money something that is socially a taboo and they are forced to do it because of the situation they are in. That right there is Humiliation on a daily basis. Not to mention in most cities those beggars are having to pay a person or gang for the right to stand on that corner. So yeah it is a job. They have to deal with all the stresses that come from a normal job and then some.
Now some may have put themselves in that situation others though fell on rough times and no one was their to lend them a hand.

We would often see strong people in the streets wearing filthy clothes and go around asking for money for reasons like they need something to buy food or they need to go back to where they come from. I have a heart for the needy, but when I know that a person is capable of doing work, I do not tolerate giving alms. With kids, well, they could be protected by some "underground" people that asks them to go around to collect money and by the end of the day, they get all the money from these poor kids. What I usually do is instead of giving them money, I give them food.

Some people are compelled to beg as they cannot find or do any work being either physically or mentally handicapped. So, in my opinion, to them who earn their livelihood by begging, begging is a work. But to those who have the physical or mental strength to do work but in stead of working, would beg to earn easy fast money by drawing sympathy from kind hearted people, begging is definitely not a work. They may be treated as cheaters as they cheat people by taking advantage of their kindness towards poor and needy people and in this way they draw their sympathy and earn. This is a kind cheating, I think.

I do believe that some people who beg is not appropriate, especially seeing them that they are capable of having jobs. That is also one notion to consider, pan handler is not a job in the first place. Though the community used to have these people and we need to know the reason why they do this, poverty is one of the reason.

I agree with you that we must work for a living. And people who give money to beggars should think before they do (some of them earn a lot) and give those coins to institutions that will know how to use the money on people that are really needy.

Isn't panhandling illegal? I know here in my city they try to round up the panhandlers as much as they can, and also store owners would even try to get them to either leave their storefront or give them a day-long job of keeping the area in front of them clean (cigerrette butts and papers and whatnot) for about 20 bucks a day. Not sure how that is working, I remember reading it in the paper a couple of years ago, in an article addressing the panhandling issue. But they're still out there. I know myself I wouldn't have the courage to panhandle, and yes you're right we should work for a living, and if we can't work legitimately that's what the welfare system is there fore. Only thing is, even the welfare system is being abused :-( Can't win, I guess.

Begging is definitely not working. There is a homeless guy that stays at the gas station here. He begs for his money every day. And the bad part is he makes more than my husband and I do! He makes anywhere from $80-$100 per day! How crazy is that? He tells people all kinds of things and they all feel bad for him like we used to until we found out how much he is making each day! He is just lazy, he said begging is easier than being told what to do at a job. Ridiculous!

BEGGING IS A WORK! BEGGING is the same as those who are collecting trash and selling them in the junk. BEGGING is the same as those executives who go for 8 hour work or more in the office. BEGGING is a work. It could not be so decent work but it is still a WORK. It is not different to Sales men who keep on asking people to buy their products (that actually not theirs). Though I strongly believe that BEGGING is a WORK, I don't encourage and neither tolerate it.
I just wonder how many beggars approached you in a day? Maybe a hundred beggars... this is really pissing off, to be haunted and gang up by these beggars. I noticed how affected you were with the experience.

Begging is not working.I hate to give money to the able ones.
But for disabled , if i feel they couldn't work with their disability , then i feel one should give money for them to live, at least something.
I feel it depends upon person to person
