Just another ramble about me...

Last night I couldn't sleep. My sleeping pattern was off-kilter again, so I'll have to work on getting back on track. So for a little bit I laid in bed playing with my BlackBerry picture app and made my cat "big" using this bulge feature. I made a bunch of them then laughed at how silly they were. Then I got on my computer with my knitting and watched a bunch of documentaries on CBC.ca website. I watched CBC Marketplace, a show about some bad customer service with telemarketers from Pakistan selling air cleaning ducts, then a few shows from the Fifth Estate, one of them was a scary documentary on Luka Magnotto (sp?) anad trying to understand what triggered the tragedy. Then I watch some funny shows. As well in the meantime I washed dishes and knitted 1 slipper for my son's 11th birthday which is coming up on Feb 11th of this year. Only 1 more slipper to go and I sew them up afterwards. Went to bed at about 6am.
Needless to say I slept all day

Well, I am glad we both were online and that I spotted today's code before it got too late. and yes, I am back in school again, psychology (actually 2 classes) sociology,(if you do read my statuses, you know I said, "double yuck" on this class) and then Western Religion.. I still have like 15 pages of my Gen. Psy. to read, but ugh!!! I hate reading so much, especially if I have to take notes and remember definitions..

Sometimes, that happens to me too. I just can't get to sleep at night and then, want to stay up all night. What does help me to sleep at night is to make sure I exercise during the day. You know, exercise to wear myself out or at least a little exercise. Also, it helps to spend some time outdoors. If I spend all day, just lazing around indoors, that doesn't wear me out enough to want to sleep at night.
I have crocheted for hours in the middle of the night, just to try to wear myself out. I find that reading a boring book helps me better to doze off. So, perhaps find a boring book. That might help you to sleep. lol

Ya you're completely right, in fact humans by nature are outdoors people, right from the get-go. I suppose older folks before our time rose with the sun and lay down with the sun, probably a good habit to get into, but not when you have 2 active kids and all haha I find knitting relaxing but it don't wear me out, maybe it's because I enjoy it so much? There were nights where I just plunged into Housework Boot Camp, I mean major gutting-out heavy duty cleaning type thing and I had loads of energy! Daytime comes.....uuuuggghhhhhh :-p lol

I guess when you cannot sleep you might as well be productive. It has been a long while since I had any serious sleep issues.I hope you get yours figured out. While I was in Minnesota I crocheted some slippers for my grand daughters as kind of an after Christmas present.

Not sure how long it takes. I tend to carry it with me and do a little here and there while I am visiting, etc. Of course I did not have any regular house duty. Just be around and talk. This "pattern" was from a kid's crochet kit. You just make a rectangle and gather up the toe, and stitch up the heal a certain way and it is a slipper. You put in a drawstring and you are good to go.

How long does it take for you to crochet a full pair of slippers if you were to do it in one sitting? I only got to do 3/4of one (already had a quarter already knitted) and I just cast on one for the other one but only knitted a couple of rows to start myself off with. Ya I find knitting is good as a productive bordom-buster.

Ohhh. There were also times that I had this one. But since I started doing the things that need to be done before bedtime
(which is usually night, right? hahaha), I can always sleep at night. Maybe you should start doing those things that you do at night during the time to reverse your cycle. But I'm glad you were very productive during that sleepless night though.

That's a good idea sure! I might try that actually. I admit that I can sleep through the night more than I used to though, I used to pull a lot of all-nighters where I end up doing heavy housework and baking and all that fun stuff, but that night my mind wouldn't let me sleep so I ended up in a relaxed, comfortable state more than anything.

At least you did something to occupy the free time instead of looking up the ceiling and counting sheep!

Oh man it's torture wanting to sleep but can't sleep! and counting sheep or anything don't work for me. Knitting and watching documentaries do work but man this time it didn't work too well, my mind was just too active. At least I wasn't that lump-of-clay tired which is a good thing, otherwise I wouldn't be able to even knit :-p

That turned out to be something positive on your part coz you were able to achieve something even if you have to be up all night.

Lol you're probably right I did end up keeping myself busy, but I do enjoy knitting as it's nice and relaxing, but on the other hand I did fell asleep with a book in my hands. Better than some nights where I'd actually throw myself into agressive housework, I mean super-cleaning, cleaning the oven, baking that sort of thing. But that recent night no I didn't do housework except to clean up the kitchen a bit.

Well atleast you were able to find things to do to occupy your time since you couldn't sleep. When I can't sleep I just lay there until I fall asleep because I need atleast a few hours of sleep to function at work. I don't have the luxury to sleep all day if I have issues sleeping at night. But atleast you were finally able to get some sleep though.

Ya, I wouldn't know what to do when the kids get older and I decide to try my hand at working. I mean I'm a housewife as they're special needs children so I do have to be able to wake up for surgeries and appointments and all that fun stuff. Oh well, at least my all-night marathons aren't as frequent as they used to be when I was in my late 20's, man I was so active, brain-active type thing so I read books a lot back then, before I had the computer :-p

Glad to hear that you were able to keep yourself busy. I know that when I can't sleep there are a lot of things that I can get done during that time frame. I'm sure you would have been able to sleep all day after that. Hope that your schedule will be able to get back on track. Have a good night.

It's easier when you're a housewife but still I have to watch it since i have two special needs children and need to be alert for appointments and calls from the school. For example, my son has an eye specialist appointment tomorrow so I need to be up bright and early then. But ya, knitting is my favourite way of keeping busy, I often bring my knitting with me even to waiting rooms and buses anywhere that'll allow me to knit.

LOL and what's really funny is seeing the before and after pictures! Tee hee!If you look closely you'll be able to see a little hole thingy (I find they look like hurricane holes you see on those hurricane track maps) so they're not perfect but funny to do. It didn't show up well on the whiteness of the cat but here's another where I took a picture from her darker side, you'll see what I mean.
