Using the internet can be hazardous to your health. . .

Or at least to mine. I guess maybe it is not using the internet, but rather where I use the internet that is bad for me. I am at the dining room table tonight, on my laptop. After a certain time I find that all I want to do is snack. I do not want to snack if I am not at the table so this is just terrible for me. How about you, do you have any place that it is bad to be online?

Hiya GG, When I have cleaned and mopped the Floors and as the air runs so little here I have to have all the doors open to dry the floors quicker and there is a huge cold blast on my back if I try to sit on the Computer so I get up and move around a bit. I can get nervous too and feel like a snack but I do try hard to kerb that as well but I can get to give in but I don´t overdo it usually. xxx

Hiya Hatley, Has happened to me lots of times too grrr page just goes skating off. Above all I avoid those energy drinks which are really loaded with sugar. I read the labels now and have to make the best of what there is. Two weeks ago I bought some Satumas and only now they are just maturing and now they have more juice so I just get all the juice out of them that I can every time I have one of those sweet tooth moments and make me a nice hot peppermint. I can say that I am very lucky that I am able to do that. Most of the fruit here is exported and the rest is sold to us practically frozen. Apples I bought are now ready to eat and I bought those ten days ago as well. All these are the only fruits that are affordable. I don´t really control intake of food well I do but not to the extent that I get faddy about it all. xxx

Me again, Hats its because I live so far out of anywhere and I have to rely on others to take me anywhere. One lane is full of loose nasty Dogs and the other is a race track for kids with those flashy cars who don´t give a fig for anyone who goes walking anywhere so I have to buy what I can when I can its really frustrating because if you forget anything that time like your favourite snack you have had it. That is why I try and get the best food and fruit that I can. Well okay I am writing about potatoes when it should be about something else going off track here. Nearest shop is miles away reckon that is a good thing or bad thing lol? So a nice hot drink calms me down fills me up and relaxes what else can I ask for?xxx

It does not matter where I am, I still have the desire to consume snacks throughout the day. As a general rule I use my desktop computer while at home, which is in a spare bedroom that I have used as an office. This makes it quite convenient since I have a desk, chair and filing cabinet etcetera, My laptop is used either while away on holiday or as a second option if I am running a long task on the desktop at the time. There is no specific place that I would tend to use it, so the issue of location does not arise. When I first read the title of your discussion I wondered if you had downloaded a virus and needed medical attention.

If my computer was powered by a treadmill then I would have to ask my avatar to keep it going, otherwise it would shut down if it depended on me. We would be happier here in England with a computer operated by rain power, although it may struggle for a couple of hours during summer.

New medical specialty for dealing with online viruses. I wonder if our computers would benefit from the flu shot. I wish I had a computer that was powered by a treadmill, I would do great.

oh my g you gave me an idea I have one of those little pedal things for toning the leg muscles but I never use it because my feet in orthopedic shoes will not fit in it and I hate using it bare foot but if I put this under my desk and pedaled while I typed I would get the exericise the dr., and my son are always harping on. I tried to convince my dr. that typing was a great exercise. I took my fingers and flexed them up and down and he laughed and said'"no I mean real exercise." but if we had to pump the treadmill to made our computers work wow we would be slim and trim for sure as much time as I spend on here.Speaking of flu shots maybe this year its helping me or the new more potent multi vitamins specially for seniors I take once a day.the things look as big as the pills I have seen vets give to horses. wow.hi asylum your little man is still going and going he will outdo the energizer bunny

I have a habit of snacking any time I'm on the computer if there is something handy. If I stay in the office and keep the food away, I don't even miss it, but if it's there, I'll eat it. Doesn't matter what room I'm in!

I was eating lightly salted nuts when I posted this. That was what was handy. If I am upstairs away from food I do not miss the snacks either. I do not keep chips much, although I like salsa and tortilla chips, and I do not have pop. We have water, tea and coffee.

Well it's the internet that keeps me up well into the early hours of the morning, I get so engrossed with what I am doing that the time speeds by, but not that engrossed that I don't snack whilst I am working away and they do say that it's the worst time to eat before you go to bed, late at night, because you are not moving around or taking real exercise to burn it off. I do try to eat fruit if I can, but then my fingers get sticky and that's not ideal when I want to use the keyboard!

The staying up late is not good either, and I will do that as well. I find if I am not careful with what I snack on at night I get a lot of reflux. It is a new year so we need new habits, perhaps.

I'm okay if I am online at the diningroom table but cannot stay there long as one leg in particular swells. So I have my laptop on my stomach and am lying on my bed propped up with cushions. This is awful as I feel hungry all of the time. Not good as I am regaining weightg and this is not hbealthy for me. Haved to just make up my mond to do a cleanse then eat sensibly (after my lunch on Friday)

Have a wonderful lunch on Friday, then pick up more on fruits and veggies. I have been eating more soups and salads so I am finding myself less hungry. It is not hunger but habit if I am at the table. I think to help your swelling you probably need to move more. Take care of yourself, we need you.

I don't want to snack to often when I am online. I am more likely to not eat at all, which isn't good either. I guess it hits all people a little differently. Although when I see recipes I am always thinking about when I might be able to make a certain dish to share with my family.

I do the worst while at work. I cannot accest myLot via my tablet as no Wi-Fi there, but do access it from my phone. I am always munching on something it seems then. Probably out of boredom since it is slow.

I recommend that you relocate your on-line environment. Sense it involves a laptop, it shouldn't be too tricky to do. Take your little laptop and put it on your lap in the living room with a pillow to protect said lap. Presuming the living room is not an eating room, you have solved your problem.

I carry my laptop all over the house. Tonight I am upstairs, far away from food. I had observed before that I had this tendency to eat while online but I violated my own personal rule about it and took the computer to the table again. I have a really nice laptop stand to use upstairs.

Snacking is good for me. I need to snack, or I won't get enough calories in to maintain my weight. I wear a size 0 or 2, so maintaining my weight is sort of necessary. I tend to sprawl in the living room with my netbook. If I'm swiping my boyfriend's laptop, I am either in the living room with it or the bedroom. I have a tendency to snuggle up in bed and use his computer long after he has fallen asleep.

Using the Internet became hazardous to my assets. I had my computer upstairs which we called our office. Excepting the computer it was never used for any other 'office' work. Our 'office' was our dining table downstairs. I had a maid who I had got married after she worked with us for 9 years. In fact we had sponsored her future and so even got her married. When she was with us she was a paragon of virtue and I thought she would be so even after marriage. She would occasionally help me out. I had full trust in her but while I was busy on the Internet upstairs she robbed me - heavily. The price I paid for not being vigilant about the change that would come over her with a rogue husband was huge. I have now shifted my computer downstairs (I still use the desk top) and all is well as I am more relaxed here which is next to my dining table. No I do not get any urges to eat. I am a disciplinarian when it comes to my diet. Heartfelt sympathies GG

I am so sorry that marriage changed her in such a way. I am sure that is disappointing. I tend to feel like snacking if I am tired, so it is a combination of location and being tired. It could be that it is the way for me to know it is time to go to bed.

hi I do finally know when to quit when my right hand goes numb from carpal tunnel syndrome so then I have to stop and wait for the feeling to come back. And if its close to nine I just shut down for the night as my roomie had forced m e to go to bed at ten pm. much to my disgust. I am used to a 11pm bedtime and not used to getting up at 6 am although years back I did that all the time but too I was young and slim and vigorous.

I keep my pc on practically for the whole day and since I have shifted it to my work area I go about my chores and get back here off and on and this way I am always walking around which includes strolling in the garden. Therefore I have no health issues. Hatley - I don't find you less vigorous even now!

I carry my laptop from room to room with me. I have a bench where I can sit and look out the front door, and that is my favorite place. Seeing the food and being close to it is why I eat at the table even with my laptop. It often really means I need to go do something different, like sleep. I do have a desk I can use in my bedroom.

the desktop pc is in one area of the dining room and it used to annoy me how my sister would always eat all kinds of meals while using it and never even cleans the table. there was a time i was getting bitten by ants one after another and finally noticed a line of them traveling along the keyboard cord! i used to turn around and eat at the dining table, even if it's just a snack, but guess what, i'm now doing the same! sure i clean up afterwards, but eating your words never tastes good!

I don't think it is the internet for me, it is whether or not I am bored. For example, if I am here, on FB, or even working on my story, hours pass by me and sometimes I forget to eat. But when I am working on my schoolwork, most of which is "BORING" I tend to eat a lot more, so can I say "school" is bad for my health???

If I am not sitting in a comfortable chair it is bad for my back. I have had back problems for several years and sitting in an uncomfortable chair just kills my back. My comfortable chair was brokey a few months back and I am now using a kitchen table chair. It is really bad for my back. I can only sit so long before it goes to hurting.
