Already planning the garden, 4 months before I can plant.

But this is something that takes a lot of planning anyways in order for it to work well this year.
Last year was pretty good, but since I hadn't planned well, I didn't have the best garden.
This year I'm already planning on what to do out there.
We have a clothes line in the middle of the yard and a small garden plot under it. I'm not going to be using that this year. I'm going to move all the rocks out that are used as a border and put them along the fence line of the main garden. This section will be seeded and only be grass.
The smaller garden area by the back patio will be squared off, the way it was supposed to be. This way I can put down grass seed by the shed and have a well defined garden plot.
The main garden will have rocks along the fence line so I can add more soil to the garden. The clay soil is useless for growing, so I need better soil in there. I'll be ordering a couple of yards of good soil to be put in there.
I will square that garden off, the irregular shape of it doesn't allow for even and straight rows. I will be running that section of garden up to the patio stones so there's no grass in between it and the stones, less for me to have to worry about when I cut the grass.
I will, since I'll be removing the middle garden section, be able to extend the main garden out at least 5' so there will be more room for what I want to grow.
The problem I still have to deal with is the weeds, not an easy task as they are extremely invasive. But I will do what I can to keep them out of the main garden space this year.
I have to reseed the backyard, so I will be edging the gardens, this way when I cut the grass, I don't go into the garden. I have to level the backyard before I seed it, but I'll have enough soil for that when I get it for the garden.
I'm not looking forward to the hard work, but I am looking forward to the end results.

You sound like you have a nice sized yard..lucky you. I bet it's exciting to even think about starting your garden and getting out there in the nice warm sun. I agree though, it is a lot of hard work but worth the effort.
I live in an apartment so there is no chance of a garden for me. I did have a nice garden for years when I was a child. My elementary school was next to a garden center and we were able to have gardens as long as we took care of them. I loved it and found it was so much fun and rewarding. As I grew up and had my own house at one time I had a big garden then too.
I miss all that stuff but try to carry on a little in my apartment with houseplants and some herbs. Not quite the same but at least some nature is better than none.
Think Spring!

I can't wait for spring, I hate winter so much. It's always too cold here.

I see you're in Canada...brrr, yes it is cold there. I'm in Ohio and we just had a mild spell for a while and now it's in the teens. All we can do is wait for spring and I wish you luck with your garden this year! Sounds like so much fun!

Brrrrr is right Kashmere! We poor Canadians are freezing our butts off! The one thing I really hate about Canada is you never really know when is a good time to get the garden going. Frost overnight have often hurt my poor flowers dearly!

Is there such a thing as planning the garden out to early. I'm already thinking about mine too. I won't be able to put it in until May. Last year I tried a pumkin patch along with the rest of the veggies we put in. It was going great until a crazy raccoon decided he might like pumpkins. But I think I'll talk to the garden center and see what they recommend to keep him out. I have to protect my veggies well the wildlife here is very aggressive. We usually plant tomatoes, squash a few varieties, corn, green beans, cucumbers, peas, and peppers to list a few. Can't wait for spring. Good luck with your garden.

I can tell you for sure what to do about this raccoon problem.
Go to your local garden center or Home Depot or something and pick up a product called Critter Ridder. This stuff works well to keep those pesky raccoons out of your garden. Pepper is a main ingredient in this product, and they can't stand it.
Also fencing your garden helps, or planting a raised garden bed that's not easy for them to get into.

Sounds like you have it all planned out, and it will be an amazing garden. We just have a little one at the front of our house under the front room window. We had roses, pansies, and sunflowers over the summer. We haven't quite planned out what we are going to do for this year yet, but we have some ideas! Best of luck!

Gardening is a good hobby. I am wondering if still I can have lot for my own garden. Unlike before we have a big garden with in the block of our house but now, the new place I reside with my wife, no excess lot around our home.

I plan and dream a long tiem before I can actually plant. Sometimes it doesn´t work, but still the dream part is very satisfying. My garden is small, but every year I plan on flowers, some veggies and a piece of grass. My grass is mostly weeds and I gave up on that. But is I keep it cut, it looks nice anyway.

I also think ahead, plan and dream a long time before I can plant any seed. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn´t. But still, the dream of the result part is more than enough to be satisfied.
