It's not easy to quit smoking. It's like telling people who don't smoke to stop breathing. Impossible, isn't it? But it can be done with much determination.
It's great that you've been thinking about quitting. First thing you need to do is to get support from the people around you. Tell everyone you're quitting and that you need their support and help.
Next, consult your doctor. My doctor told me that there's a medication that you can take to help you quit smoking. Talk to your doctor.

If there is a will then you cannot stop. The addiction to nicotine is really hard to stop smoking. Some people tried to sober, eventually they came back for not enduring the agony of not smoking. Some people used to stop by decreasing the sticks in a weekly basis, then all for gone to do it any more.

I think that in this situation, different methods work for different people. For instance, my greatest successes were when I was pregnant. But of course, you can never be pregnant. Have you tried the different pills and patches. Of eating sunflower seeds, chewing gum or sucking on mints when you feel the urge to smoke.

I quit for 10 years. The first week was so-so but it got so much easier and I didn't even miss it. I had people from church pray with me to quit, and I offered up the suffering from the desire to God for the healing of addictions throughout the world. Any time I got a craving, I would pray. Unfortunately, I did go back to smoking. I didn't pray when I started again. Now I have to quit again. I have a rattle in my throat sometimes. Might be too late now.
Good luck! You can do it, it just takes immense will power and God to help one to quit.
