Today my grandson called and told me that he could come for lunch bringing his girlfriend. I really wanted him to come: I`m so proud that he made the conservatory. He will study music. I had some ideas for a Summer lunch but the day started cold. So I searched the fridge and found a gorgeous cauliflower, some cheese, eggs and milk. A put some potatoes to boil and made a cauliflower pudding. I put some regiannito grated cheese over it and to the oven. They almost ate the glassware!!! They applauded, said all we cooks love to hear! They brought yerba mate and we talked for a long while while sipping mate. It was absolutly perfect!

In our modern life, having quality time with family becomes more rare. Everyone has his life, his worries, friends...Seeing the family is in low priority.
It's a real extra value to have such a friendly grandmother who likes to see her family, grandsons, make them food.

Thanks to both of you, my friends. But I am sure that us, grandmothers, are more open to recieving our family and young people just don`t fiind the time to be with us. I hope that this post is read my the younger generation. We all need each other.

You mean getting to know Valentina`s family? No. It`s much too soon and they are both much too young.

The girl is very nice and interesting. I had a lovely time talking with them. But I can only say that she is suitable for him at this stage of his life. They are both very young and anything can happen. Still, I`m glad that he`s happy and that she is so nice.

You are such a nice person and a grandmother. You told us 24 hours ago about the dish you like to do with the vegetables in the mixer. Did you forget to make it for them ? O.o
My grandmother always make us lunch. We eat at her house every day: me, my mom, my sister and sometimes, my cousins. The lunch makes us very united family (from the side of my mother). Keep doing it more often, Marguicha. It will come back to you when you all celebrate together and you will be lucky to know how your grandson grows up, success, have stories to tell you and always appreciate you.

No, I did not forget. But gazpacho is wonderful for a Summer lunch. My grandson chose to come on the only cold day we have had in the wholwe Summer. I thought that they`d be happier with something warmer.

My mom met her grandson's girl friend when we invited her to dinner with us to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. We all enjoyed the food, especially my mom since it was at her favorite restaurant. But my son's girl friend was very quiet and did not eat much; perhaps meeting the whole family was nerve wrecking for her.

My grandchildren used to find me cool as a grandma, but I`m not so sure about what they think about me now that they have grown. I will have to try extra hard now as they are harder to please now.

Oh, the meal sounds divine.
I could actually go for a snack, but I'm not certain that my cat would be okay with losing his human pillow right at the moment. He's already irked enough that I'm resting my arm on him so that I can type.

Wow, that is really so wonderful. So sweet of them to drop
by and visit. You are definitely a great cook, I can imagined
how delicious it was. Great job! My mum is
always delighted when his grandchildren drop by to visit her.
She is even happier when they brought their girlfriends to
visit her!

It`s wonderful when grandchildren make their come back to grandma! It is my experience that at the beginning if their teens, all my grandkids have behaved in such a way that their ol`witch (granny) would like to spank them.

I don't think that I've ever had cauliflower pudding, but I do have to say that it sounds like something that would be very nice to eat.
It is great that your grandson feels comfortable enough with you that he wanted you to meet his girlfriend. I know that when my grandmother was alive, I was very leery of ever letting her meet my boyfriends because I didn't ever think that they would be good enough for her. However, I do have to say that she really did love my husband and was always singing praises about Tom.

I think that grannys usually want their children to be happy in the first place. And my grandson is just 18 years old so there`s time to change. Still, this girl is very nice and I like that. If you scroll up, I explained in detail how I make my pudding to a mylotter who asked for the recipe.

It is wonderful that he brought her to you. It looks as if you have a great relationship with your grand son. Well done!
Now you got me curious about the 'pudding' you made... I have never heart about vegetables ingredients for a pudding...? Please tell me about it? Was it not a vegetable dish you made? I am not suggesting that you are lying, it looks different and I would love to try this recipe!

It`s very easy. Place steamed cauliflower flowerets in a greased baking pan. Dice cheese (the kind that melts) and sprinkle the diced cheese over the cauliflower. Make a small amount of white sauce. Beat 3 egg whites until soft peaks form, add the yolks and slowly the white sauce. Pour over the cauliflower, sprinkle with some reggianito cheese and heat at the oven (medium). Remember that there`s no need to have it for a long time as everything is cooked. Et voilĂ .

You and I understand each other, Jo. My older grandsons had a couple of abnoxious years, but I didn`t dispair and they came back. In my country we have a name for the way children change for worse in their early teens

I was very happy. The children had fun, I could see. If they hadn`t, they could have invented awhite lie about having something to do after lunch, but we spent hours talking after lunch.

That sounds great! I love yerba mate too, do you have one of those special things you drink it out of (I forget the name). It's probably healthier than coffee I imagine. I have tried many herbs and tea's. My favourites besides yerba mate are kratom and kava (for anxiety and pain relief).
Nature often gives much better medicine than doctors can prescribe, and with much less side effects.

The "cup" is called mate and the "straw" (usually metal) is called a bombilla.
