dear friend, i can't agree more about the harms of smoking. As now more and more health orgnizations advocate the actions to fight against smoking as this is disturbing others' living environment. Also we need to find right ways to help the addicters to stop smoking so that we can make our world more wonderful.let's work together to help the smokers.

In my country public smoking has been banned - and this means on the streets - anywhere in public. The result is that smoke related diseases like asthma have been dramatically reduced resulting in less people going to emergency departments at hospital. Because we are in tourism, tourists are allowed to smoke on the hotel beaches. People get addicted and it is hard to give up.

This is an addicting activity that most are finding it hard to stop. They know the fact that they have to quit, yet they are craving for it.
Our government cannot impose law to stop smoking nor to prohibit the manufacture as it is a violation of our right. What the government can do is to inform the public of the negative effects and this time, to increase the tax so that the amount of this thing will also increase.
Stopping will solely depend on us.
Have a nice day!

NO - Smoking CAN cause cancer - CAN CAN CAN, not does.
We all possess the genes that can cause cancer and smoking can trigger these genes to mutate and cause life threatening cancer.
You increase you chance of getting lung cancer by 50% if you smoke...
As you original odds are only about 2% or 3% anyway, the risk isn't that great.
Don't fall for the anti smoking propaganda.
A person has a right to smoke and smoking raises billion in tax.
No one ever beat their child because they had been smoking with friends all night.
Celebrities do not go into rehab because they have spent the last two weeks smoking
Charlie sheen is not crazy because he smokes....
There are bigger fish to fry my friend than a person having a smoke

I have seen people who eat almost only veggies and fish and have high cholesterol levels. And I meam high. Yet others, because they are genetically build differently, can eat a lot of fat and will not have bad cholesterol levels. I happens the same with everything, including smoking. I wonder how many people die in the world through violence (including wars). I do know that there are 2 billion people in the world who are either undernourished or dying from hunger (by the way, there`s enough food in the world to feed them all). I agree with robspeakman: there are bigger fish to fry than a person having a smoke.

Smoking is very addictive. Once hooked it is so hard to stop, even though people who smoke know it is damaging their health, unpleasant for other people around them and a dirty filthy habit. Smoker's hair and skin smell like cold full ashtrays and the smoke sticks to clothes as well. When people smoke in their house the walls absorb the smoke and nicotine stains the curtains and upholstery. It is difficult to get the smell out. In many countries governments make rules about smoking. Where I live smoking is forbidden in restaurants and bars, hospitals, stores and offices, so people stand ouside on the sidewalk and smoke. Now there are some buildings that forbid smoking within a certain parameter and there is a movement under way to make a law to forbid smoking in public parks. Yet, so many people cannot get rid of the habit. I know how hard it is. I used to smoke. I am thankful every day that I was able to kick this filthy habit.

Perosnally speaking I do not like smokers. I hate the smell and I feel that it is very disrespectful for the boys to smoke in front of females. Everyone knows what it does not only to those who smoke but also to those who are with them. Best way I feel for this problem is what Bhutan did. They banned all tobbaco product in their country. We should do this so new generation do not fall prey to it.

I don't smoke. I find it pointless, dangerous and unhealthy, oh, and a total waste of money. Yer I don't believe in restricting those people who want to smoke in a way that they couldn't do that. Just they shouldn't smoke in buildings, or they should have a smoking room, in order not to expose non-smokers to the fumes.

Yes, Smoking kills! It is a dangerous habit that expose harmful chemicals not only to the smokers but also to other people who inhales the second hand smoke coming from this harmful habit. It's hard to break this habit because nicotine is addictive, but with determination and strong will, anyone can be finally free from nicotine addiction! Take it from me, I used to consume 3 packs of Phillips a day, four years ago.

It takes a very strong will to quit smoking. In my experience, I think I've already quieted more than 30 times and yet, I still haven't fully quit. There was a time when I did stop smoking for a while, but then when mother people start smoking, I get really annoyed. I used to smoke, because I felt like it helped me think. I'd get a lot of ideas when im smoking and when I'm in awkward situations, it calms me down and prevents me from looking like a weirdo. I'm trying to quit again, hopefully it works this time.

I think they are very irresponsible. I know parents that don't give up smoking even if that affects their children. They are so addicted that they can't stop. It's sad but...

Smoking is harmful to the smokers and people nearby, but giving it up needs determination, perseverence, and self-discipline. So although everyone knows it's harmful, only a few can make it. I never smokes. Tried once, when I was little, and it's awful...

This is more of an individual preference. Laws should be brought out to make sure people who do not are smoke are not effected by passive smoking. This includes making public places a smoke free zone.
Why people smoke even after knowing it is bad?
First of all it is addictive which makes people quit smoking very difficult.

The problem with it is because if a person started smoking then it is hard to stop with right away. Therefore what they can practice is that on how to minimize their smoking habit.

Any governemnt or law has nothing to do with this. it's an addictive habit and the only thing to make it stop is when the person stops smoking. It's an entirely personal matter that shoudl begin with the smoker. Any external measures are just obstacles to be fought and won.

It’s hard to transition someone who is addicted to such smoking habits; most especially that it has nicotine which puts someone hype over such addiction.
Another thing why some would smoke because they are blinded by others who do such activities and out of curiosity, they will try it out resulting that at the end, they will become addicted to such.

As far as your first q is concerned, i think its not less than any style. I find at least 8 out of 10 lovers in campus do smoke ... As far as stopping this habit is concerned, it requires a solid reason or in other word it require a compulsion. I had to stop smoking just b'cos my wife has allergy of smoking. After each meal and dinner i was smoking and in the same time my wife was vomiting. This thing compelled me to quit smoking. So i think compulsion is must to stop it. If your doctor will tell that you will die within a week, if you dont smoke, then definitely you will say bye bye to smoking, else very tough to avoid this beautiful stick.
