Just Recently Chinese government published a map to show what part of their territory will be and that map shows very near to every claimant country. They also accused the Philippines, to be the land grabber or usurper where the Philippines, claim as their territory. I don't understand what kind of thinking of this chinese government where those land is inside the Philippines territory.
What do you think about chinese government in claiming all the island in the south china sea?

I don't think it is mighty fair of you to brand China or her government to be "land grabber" or "usurper" when your country is entitled to prove every way possible in the international courts to refute the claims of China.
It is clear that China is no where close as far as the perpetrators of both world wars are concerned. Also, the international court's doors are opened entirely for your country to address the issue. I don't know or understand your country's failure to counter the claims made by China with their historical documents other than having none.
I really do hope that war will not break out like the eventful Falkland Island and that both countries would not stop exercising diplomacy at all times.

I'm not branding China as Land Grabber, but they are the one say that, friend. They say that Philippines, is a usurper after the Philippine government, file a diplomatic protest on UNCLOS to resolved the issue.
Chinese government really undermined any diplomatic solution because they always threaten the a weak country by showing their Military force along with the disputed island. There is a diplomatic talk between the two countries, but chinese government seems not recognize those talks and agreement.
They are entering the Philippine territory, and must not be that way if they are a man of honor. The Baho De Masinloc, is part of the Province of Zambales and this is a part of the Philippine territory.

@aerous Chinese government had showed willing to talk peacefully with philippine government, but philippine refused to talk with china, and even change the name of "south china sea" to "west philippine sea",and protest on UNCLOS without any neogiation with china,so how dare you say chinese government donnot recognize talks?

Well part of China's territory includes Tibet, yet I would think there are Tibetans who believe they should have their own government. The there is Inner Mongolia. If the people there are Mongolia, shouldn't they re-unite with Mongolia? China is also upset that the do not control Taiwan. Since China has many different dialects and people, perhaps the future of China lies in fragmentation, the same as the Soviet Union.

Yup! When they failed to reclaim Taiwan, they start claiming all the island. The future of China, still depend on the hand of elite individuals that form a government that no one oppose it...
China, is now powerful than soviet union and I think nothing will oppose them at this time because all the Asian countries, has no capability to deal with China. They have influence in the United Nation and all of the country, because of economic reason.

Hi aerous,
I am also a Filipino and even as much i hate the Chinese Government for taking over some of our Philippine territories, i also hate the Philippine Government for not being strong enough to step up for what is rightfully ours in the first place. I know China can do whatever they want to do because they want to rule the world, haven't you noticed it yet? God made the moon, the star, the earth, but the rest is all China made. LOL!

Your comment reminds me of things the Russians said during the Cold War. Some of these were true, but whenever a new innovation or major invention was made, the Russians would say "We had it first."

I just remember the time of late President Marcos, where the Philippines, once a powerful country. No one will ever to challenge the Philippines, before but after the fall of Marcos, Chinese government will secretly invade our territory and the government nothing to do with it to suppress them. Because all the Jet fighters of the Philippine Airforce was junk...

Hi,
I remember the same mentality about 1939 when Hitler came to power and claimed all of Europe to be a German territory, then there was Hirohito which claimed all of the Pacific, Saddam Hussein who want all of the Middle East. All of these moves led to world wars more or less. Maybe, if we don't do something about this, history is going to repeat itself.

Looks like it's China who should remind of their history. In fact, they should have been the role model of the East besides Russia, now they are repeating the mistakes of Imperial Japan. I don't want to live a life time were i got to experience war or something.i think governments who like to promote ethnic nationalism really tends to change history to try to create their own

We hope so that there is a diplomatic solution with that problem. But China, always insist that filing a diplomatic protest is not acceptable to them. I think they doing those thing because they know that their country is powerful enough to rule the entire Asia.
They billions of strong military personnel and this will be a huge enough to get what they want by force.

I agree with you.Chinese government has problems with all its neighbors including India,Japan,Vietnam,Philipins and Japan. It has already usurped and annexed Tibet. Now it is eyeing on India's northernmost reigions.India had lost its thousands of kilometer land to China in the Indo-China war,1962 thanks to the shortsighted policies of the then Nehru government.

Sometimes diplomacy is a function of how strong a country is. Hopefully, that won't be the case here.

In terms fo claims, it's always a murky water when one party say it's from historical reasons.how much water will it hold water into modern times and modern maritime laws.

Saw this on the news lately. I think it's not just about money, but their desire for power in that region. Time alone will tell if this is going to be a repeat of the scenario that led to World War 2 when the Japanese attempted to occupy & grab the whole of Asia.

Hope it won't. There are still many people who outlived the war and frankly, I don't tihnk this will turn into anything useful. But I eprosnally hope that this matter is resolved quickly. It's not good politically nor economically.

Of course the regime in China is greedy, they are make up by a bunch of communists, what else can you expect coming out from a group of bandits ??? If you have done your school works and know the nature of communist party in your history book on Asia, you shouldn't be too surprise that communists will make such a claims on all the land in Asia and the whole South China Sea whenever necessary to expand their territory, it is just a matter of time communists will claim they are the original owner of our planet Earth, let alone Part of Philippine's island is belong to them. Many time they not only making ridiculous claims, they also like to act on those claims to realize their political goal. You will never get to understand the thinking of this regime unless you are a hard core communist at heart, it is beyond all reasoning in the context of civilized world governed by international rule and law.

Tyrants always feel they are justified in taking what isn't theirs.
What I find disturbing is that there are elements within my country that support socialism/communism as a viable alternative to the Republic we were founded to be.

Hello Aerous, I don't know anymore but one thing i do know is that we screw up big time and now has allowed the chinese to scare us because we didn't upgrade our military early. they believe it's their time to "shine" just like North Korea thinks its' their time to shine by launching a NUKE as a test in the US. it's our fault and our Govt's fault that we allowed this to happen. I feel sad that we are being stepped on again

Greed is the number one reason why countries behave that way. China is already a rich country and it has become more aggressive and more ambitious to become a superpower at the expense of others. I think it wants to conquer the whole world if we allow it.

seems to me , like they need to all work together to come up with a plan. Not one country making those kind of decesions.
