I'm interested in writing articles to make money online. I've researched and found a few products that look promising. Anyone know of any good websites or any tips for a newbie?

Yep,it is legit and they have three programms namely ''standard'',''Premium'',and ''Elite'' and i think you'll earn more if you become an elite writer.
BTW i am not a writer but my professor used to earn money from the webite which pays 2$ and some cents for every 300 words.

It really depends on whether you want to earn from page views or you want to sell what you've written. One method that you can use to earn fast money from the articles that you've written is to sell them as private label rights article.
I've heard some writers doing quite well selling this way. What you can do is to join a forum that has a section in it for you to sell your products. One forum I can think of is the WarriorForum.
You know that many webmasters are looking for content to fill their websites so here's where you come in. Prepare ten articles on the same subject that is about 500 words each and then sell these ten articles as a pack to just 50 people for $10 or $20. You can easily make at least $500 to $1000 if you manage to sell the pack to 50 people.

Writing articles is not an easy thing to do as you have to have a good grasp of the language and some good writing skills that will make your content interesting and readable. I never thought I would be good as an article writer but once I did my best I actually succeeded at it and this is now my job. Besides I have established several contacts with people and companies who require content to be written, and I have a team of writers to whom I provide this work and they get paid per article. If interested you can join us, new writers are always very welcome

While it sounds like easy money, writing articles does take a lot of time and effort to do.

@Admin..sites like Triond, Bukisa, Shvoong, hubpages, expertscolumn, etc. are a different category ...
Here, it is like you spend first 5 years creating content..your time is spent on content creation, with virtually nothing worth that comes into your account...thereafter there is a regular income...for lifetime...provided the content you create is substantial and something that people would be interested in. For example, people would look up the net for December 16 rape case as of now, and likewise Richard Headley's case..so if you write about them, you will get more views.

I heard of Triond but many people give negative feedback that their articles never get approved.

If you really wants to make money from your articles then I suggest you to submit your articles at Triond, Redgage or Expertcolumns. since I have read about this site and many people are making money also on these site from their articles.

You oversimplify things too much. But the is the end and gist of it.
