I grew up in the county called Kent in the South Eastern corner of England. I used to delight in day trips and short breaks to France and Belgium. They were just across the water and I could go by ferry or hover speed. I was very exciting for me when the Channel Tunnel opened. I used it to travel to Belgium and the Netherlands. I went to Brussels on the Euro Star and there changed trains.
I lived within easy traveling distance of London Airports. I was able to travel to the one in Sussex and the one in West London. I found the ones north of London very tricky to get to. Now I moved my nearest airport is Bristol and it has European flights to short haul destinations. If I go to the beach I can see Wales over the other side of the water. Wales is part of my home country.
Which countries do you live near?
How far are you away from the sea?
Would you like to visit any countries close to where you live?

i live in the country that have the most island in the world, Bali is the most and the well known overseas from my country. And one of my favour of local destination for vacation, but not when holiday season because the price for everything it's more than twice than usual and the worse they using dollar too not local currency.
lots of sea around my place and for vacation too, mountain, and others about nature.
The close one is lion country that have one island only ...
sometime the flight price is cheaper to go to lion country than to bali from my placed .. it's depend on the time you visit, when holiday time or not ..

I loved visiting Sumatra when I was 21 years old. I know Bali is a much more popular island for tourists. Yes, in the peak season prices must be very high due to all the rich tourists. When the price is more than double the usual it can be shocking for the budget. I like the shoulder season for the lower prices and busy crowds are not my kind of thing.

I was born in China, in the southeast part, the nearest country is thousands of miles away. When I was a child, I can not hear that any people around me have the chance to visit another country. I once believed that China was the only country in the world.
But now as the process of internationality, we have many ways to know other parts of the world. More and more young people in my country try to study abroad.
Visiting foreign countries is one of the dream of my family. This year I have planned to visit a new country together with my mom. It may be South Korean or Thailand, depending on how much money I can save before the summer vocation.

It is fascinating to hear that once when you were a child you thought China was the only country in the world. I hope that you will be able to visit South Korea or Thailand with your mom. It is superb some Chinese students get to study abroad. My Lot is an international excellence I believe. I like it that so many different nationalities are members of wonderful My Lot.

Since I live in the North of England, Ireland is the nearest destination to me, with either The Netherlands or Belgium being the next closest. I have never visited Ireland or Belgium, although I did travel to The Netherlands on time by train and ferry. Quite a long journey by that route, but rather enjoyable.
My nearest airports are Manchester and Liverpool, which makes travelling to Europe pretty straightforward. The only time that I flew from London was when I flew from Gatwick to Moscow, this was because there were no flights from the North. The journey to Gatwick seemed more laborious than I expected, after which the flight to Moscow seemed short in comparison. I now stick to local airports rather than travel so much before actually flying.

Thanks for your wonderful response. It was great that you were able to visit the Netherlands. I know what you mean about the flight to Moscow only being available from London so the journey from the north seemed long. It is fantastic you now stick to local airports.

Hi maximax! I'd love to tour the countries in South East Asia, surrounding my country. We live a few minutes away from the shore and seeing too many beaches makes me wonder what it looks like in a desert. I've been to Japan and Saipan and wish to travel to a lot more countries. I actually want to tour the whole world if given a chance.

You might need to take a flight to reach other countries from where you live. Malaysia and Singapore can easily be combined on the one trip. Your cheapest flight might go to Hong Kong. I know prices in Japan are high so careful planning would be essential. Good luck with getting better finances in the future.

In Denmark our neighbour countries are Sweden, Norway, Germany and the UK. I have visited all of those countries, but I would like to visit them again.
My husband and I would like to go on a road trip in Norway and Sweden. It is possible to sail from the north of Denmark to Norway and we would like to start our trip there. We will visit a couple of places in the Southern part of Norway and then we will continue to the Northern part of Norway. When we have visted the north of Norway we will cross the border and visit some of the places in the Northern part of Sweden before we drive to the South part of Sweden. From the Southern part of Sweden we can cross the bridge and get back to Denmark that way.
I have lived in the very north of Germany (Flensburg) and I have visited Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden, but I would like to visit other parts of Germany in the future for instance Munich.
In the UK I would like to travel around for a couple of weeks and visit several different places. I have lived in Scotland, but I have never been to Wales and there are also a lot of places in England that I have never had the chance to visit.

Norway and Sweden are incredibly beautiful countries. I loved traveling by train all the way from Stockholm up to Narvik. I hope that you and your husband will do a road trio in those two lovely countries. It is great that you have had a time of living in Northern Germany. Bavaria is full of wonderful sightseeing opportunities. I loved seeing castles on day trips from beautiful Munich. I studied in North Wales and now live close to South Wales. Yes, it is just across the water.
Good luck with your future travels.

I live in the Philippines. Ilive in a rural town/province which is more or less 240kilometers away from our country's capital city. There is a city nearby butit is still far from the town where I live. My province is called the melting pot of central luzon. It is called so maybe because it is usually hot here in the region. Farming and planting rice is the basic source of living of the people here. My province have hectares of land and we mostly provide rice for the whole country. beaches are far from here.
Philippines is in south east asia. I wish to visit all countries and cities nearby if budget will allow. I would like to visit Hongkong and Thailand first.

I very much enjoyed reading about your home country and where you live in it. A flight is necessary from the Philippines to get to any other country. I like the sound of the airline called Cebu Pacific. I hope that you will visit Hong Kong and Bangkok on affordable flights in the future.

I encourage first some people back home to travel around the country. there are many great places in my place. as tropical island. Then go to the nearby countries like Thailand, Malaysia, HongKong, Singapore... we don't need visa in those countries so why not explore either cultures. Yes it it is nice to see other countries.

I always dreamed of visiting places like the UK, US, Europe and also Africa. It's nice that you're surrounded by some awesome countries and the country you live is also great.
Talking about neighboring Countries, there aren't many nice places around us keeping in fact I'm from India where you have tons of places within India itself for visiting. But places like pakistan, bangladesh, nepal, srilanka doesn't draw me that much towards them even though they also have their own diversities.
The place where I live is far from the sea or you can say its actually surrounded by lands, so no chance, but In the UK you can enjoy that, I mean most of the UK is surrounded by the sea.

I am surprised there is not a ferry between India and Sri Lanka. I know there is a bus from India to Nepal. I believe Pakistan might be a little dangerous to visit. Yes, Great Britain is an island surrounded by sea. Good luck with achieving your dreams to visit places in the Europe like the UK, USA and Africa in the future.
