I've noticed in Korean TV series, most the actors used to have sign of peace in front of the camera. I am not sure, if they are making peace to the world. When I traveled n China and Hong Kong, some of the locals do the same thing. What do you think?

Well i don't make gestures while taking pictures.I think this is little unmature for me,but not for everyone. So i suppose this might be some culture sign and there are some people don't like do that.Anyway, depends on certain people.

I do think it is in their culture. I can't do it, but some of my friends do. I just find it weird.

A pleasant day Shavkat, I do also noticed it at times. And I even do it sometime but for me, that is a simple hand gesture and no meaning behind. And to others, I have no idea why they are doing that pose. I guess, everyone has their own reason.

For all I know it is a sign of peace, it became famous during my high school days. Since it a catholic school, it is inevitable not to put meaning about it. I don't for them. Good day!

Perosnally, don't do this because it was y too cutesy for me. I am the stiff upper lip and I try to emulate the Mona Lisa when someone is patient enough to take my picture. I don't smile (okay, a little bit) but I do that stuff. I think ti;s their way of saying they are approachable or cute. or a trend that just got passed from people to people.

I don't, but I guess people would laugh at me if I do as trying to act half or even a third of my age...

Yeas i also notice that. I think is a part of their style. K-Pop style I think. My children are also fond of doing such thing because they are following the style of the k-pop stars. There are just things which I do not understand with the new generation and I just leave it as is. I know they are enjoying! Have a nice day!

Yes maybe and they emphasized it through their slogan but are they true and sincere enough in making peace with the world. The action of China is different he invoking trouble claiming places far beyond there territorial jurisdiction is far from peace.

Even i don't understand this. I have also seen people using a satan sign that is popular rockstar sign. I don't know what they want to explain through those signs, but i guess once or twice i have used both of them. not knowing why i did it.

I also notice the same thing to them. Other Asians do it too which is funny I think they feel comfortable when they make such sign as if it makes their photo more presentable.

I don't see anything wrong with that I mean maybe it's culture. Or they think they look cute with those hand signs on so nothing offensive so it's okay.

I think this sign not only means peace but also means other thing such as OK,good, victory or we are ready.

Before I made this sign when taken photos by someone, but as I get older, I find it silly. But in China, as far as I know, it stands for victory rather than peace. And peopel who make this sign say " ye" ( similar as the word cheers) when they are taken photos by someone.
28 Jan 13
well for me, I get used to it when we take pictures. It's kind of cute I guess. But most of us Filipinos do that every time we take a pose. :)

I dont understand why some people automatically raise their hands to show the sign of peace when photographed. This action is quite puzzling.

Because.....they don't know what else to do with their hands and they figured its too boring to just leave them at their side or fold their arms? No I don't do peace/v signs since I'm an adult. If you see me doing one, then I must be drunk or being silly.

There is a reason for it...when a person looks very nice or is better off, others feel jealous. It is suggested as a remedy for supposedly "evil eye".:) So whatever be the case, the other person's jealousy would not affect the people in front of the camera. Such things happen only when pictures are taken..lol Weird..but it is only superstition...it started with only rich folks being in a position to get their pictures painted, and photographs taken. For some reason, their homes got robbed or something nasty happened...so ...

Since we first saw these from Japanese pictures... me and my friends call this sign 'japan-japan' . It's kind of cute. Especially when kids do it.

I have also noticed the same thing with my classmates in Japan. They would be putting up that peace sign with their fingers whenever their pictures are taken. I do think they look cute. But I have never done that. I feel awkward! If I were to do it, it seems like being "trying hard".
