Working overtime, exhausted myself

Yesterday, I was asked to work overtime on my regular job. So I came in early in the morning like 6:30 A.M., I expected to work a couple of hours then we can go. But our supervisor was in need of the new product to finished within a certain time period. so, instead of 4 hours of overtime, we work 8 hours extra. Until 2:00 P.M. in the afternoon, So we can leave. Good thing is, I am glad I can make more extra money; bad thing is, I am gonna exhausted myself, since I have another job after 4:00 p.m. After I grabbed a quick bite from McDonald, I went straight to another job until 11:00 Last night. By the time I got home, I was like almost pass out. I couldn't remember how many cups of coffee I drank in the morning and afternoon to try to keep me awake and energized. Life is tough, sometimes, I think we slave to the money.

I hope you get enough sleep this weekend. It's bad for you to be exhausting yourself too much. Yes, you will earn more money from your work but if you do this often, maybe those extra pay may not be enough to buy you medicine.

That's well said...slave to the money, we try to work as much as possible to get a better income so we may pay all our bills. As more we earn, more spend. But working all around the clock, we also spend our time (working) and our health, loosing not only our health but also social life. What would we do having a lot of money without the time to enjoy it? A few years ago I tried to reduce my outcomes to a minimum so even earning a bit, I may cover all my bills and earning a bit more I will be able to save for a holiday or something else. Reducing outcomes helps to avoid being a slave of the money/working system.

Oh no that is quite a lot of hard work you do there. Well i understand what must be your condition. Even i work mostly till 3 to 4. am in the morning i am not forced but then the amount of money i earn, forces me to work on till the mornings and then i can't sleep the next entire day i have to still get up at my regular time that i do daily i have other work to be completed as well. Really life is too tough. And our needs are rising which has made us slaves to money.

I hope that you are able to get some extra rest in after that. I agree with you. I think that there are more times than not that we are slave to money. Especially when it seems we aren't making enough like we would like. It is important that we strive to reach a balance.I hope that sometime I will be able to reach that balance. As it seems I'm always working some way online to earn some extra money. I though don't want that to be all that I do. So I hope to get a good savings going and then I hope I will be able to step back a little from working so much.

It is very much understandable if you do not love your work and based on your info I conclude that you really do not like it. I know by my own experience how dificult it is to be just present at your unloved job. Particulary in the corporate environment with all those meetings and personal plans, you know. The only way out is to do what you love. If you managed to make a match then you are a happy person. But how many really can do it in their lifes ? Look around.

to much work is not good for the health.. you must get rest. the energy in body can be recovered but the effects on our body will make us suffer. please do take some rest. do not exhaust your self.. a friendly advise..

stress - stress symptoms on health and body
That sounds like too much hours of work. Be careful about rendering too much hours at work because it might take a toll on your body. The extra money you earned might just be spent for medicines. I have a friend that works a minimum of 12 hours a day, now he is hypertensive and his money only goes to his everyday medicine, he is only 29 years old.

it is quite hard and we need to shuffle and most importantly there is no time even to refresh and get rejuvenated .All the time we are on the prowl getting back to things and life

Sometimes we have no choice but to render those extra hours for work. Once in a while and as long as we get compensated for it properly, it should be fine. But I hope you don't have to do this all the time. It can take its toll on your health and it would be pretty bumming if the extra money you earned will be used for your medical bills.

Hi, kingparker. Working too much is not healthy and advisable. We are living for happiness, not for money. Money just keep our life running, so we don't need too much money. Health matters in our life. I wish you will work regularly and have a healthy body. Live a happy life! Good day, friend!

I don't think its a good idea to work on restdays as they are meant for rest and to relax your mind and body from all week stress. But if you will go to work on these days also then when you will rest and ultimately it will start affecting your work also. Don't go after money too much that you start avoiding other important things in your life. I hope you will not make this as a habit. Take some rest

i think it must be balance between our work time and our free time, because if i have extra work time i would be bored, but if i have too much free time i can't get enough money for liveing. so better you keep this two balanced in time.

Yes there is always a tradeoff. Do you want to work less and have more free time but less money, or more money and less free time. I would personally opt for the former option. Its ok to work hard for some time if you have too, but if it becomes a long term habit I would suggest that some changes should be made.

kingparker That is indeed a lot of work. There are times however that it is worth the extra sacrifice. As long as you don't harm your health I admire your willingness to work hard and make extra money. When I had times of working harder and longer than usual I was careful to eat properly, do some exercise, reduce stress and get as much rest as I could. It wasn't easy but the money was good..
