your appearance says something about your knowledge

do you believe that appearance speaks a lot about what we know? just curious.. for me I find it true whenever I observe people. It's not that I am judging the book by its cover but let us all be honest here. when you see someone, you can sense if the person is knowledgeable or smart or not.. the way a person speaks and dress, it all says something about who he/she is. I don't know, it's just my own observation but I've proven it many times.
yes one can make him/herself look smart in dress but once a person speaks we can easily say if he/she is really smart or not. what's your view here?

Well, for me, I will be able to tell whether a person is smart or not after I have the conversation with him/her. And also, for me, a smart person is someone who has the knowledge and can apply it in his/her behavior. Appearance is always number two. I observe people, but I don't want to judge quickly if I haven't talked to them. A new staff in my office was deceiving. She has a great appearance, she dress nicely, but apparently she's not that smart and worse, her behavior is so disappointing. Another one is one of the tutor. He dresses very humble, he's very quiet, but he's smart.

I completely agree with you MissPiggy! You cannot know someone by the way they dress or look. Once you get to know them then you can know who they are and what they are about...

Pfft...I didn't get any notification about this so I didn't know there's a comment. And yes, just like the man your husband met, look can be deceiving even in a good way.

I think it is judging a book by its cover. It is not always the case. My husband once met a guy who looked like he was as poor as the homeless from appearance. Then the guy invited my husband over for dinner. My husband accepted and was shocked when they pulled up to the double gate and gorgeous house he lived in! So, it is not always the truth. The guy told my husband he dresses that way to find out who genuine people are, if they befriend him looking the way he does then they are worth talking to...
So, there goes the theory about how people look you can know their personality. I dress differently every single day, depends on my mood. Sometimes I dress more casual, sometimes I dress more sophisticated, sometimes I dress more sexy, sometimes I am in Mommy Wear. So what does that say about me?

You have a thousand character!!! You're right. And hat off to that man. Sometimes I imagine myself as a rich person and that is exactly what I would do. Dressing up like a tramp to know which people who really genuinely care to even talk to me and which people who don't even bother to look. As for now, even my look is deceiving. For someone who sees me the first time, they will think I'm a real angel. But well, that's strike one.

Even the most scruffiest person can be knowledgable, knowledgable in the ways of the world, life and experience. You can have qualifications, but that's on paper, and you can still lack common sense. No one knows the real person just by looking at them, and as you said you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. I have known smart looking people that have little knowledge and I have known people who have been unkempt, and unattractive yet they have been very clever. And how do you know when you see them that it is their day off? Some businessmen who are have high paid jobs might be seen at the weekends unshaven, badly dressed, and you couldn't tell that they were highly paid and knowledgeable.

I can't determine a person's intelligence by how they look. Because I know some people who dress like a hobo but is actually very smart. (my boyfriend)
Usually smart people dress well... smart! But that isn't always the case.
I can determine and sense someone's intelligence through their manner of speaking, the contents of their thoughts that they share to people, and it is very evident when they write it down. I can sense there are tons of smart people in mylot too!

Hi friend, we can guess about a person using his/her appearance, but it is not a good thing to judge a person using the appearance. May be the physical look and activities will tell something about the person, but some persons knowledge is far different from their appearance, some great persons seems to be very simple and normal, but they have a great knowledge. In my opinion appearance don't have any connection with our knowledge

I think there are some cloths that a smart person will never wear. And I never met one single exception. I am referring to fakes of famous brands, eventually written similar. (Abibas shoes)
Except this, I didn't noticed any other pattern. Everybody have days when is more inspired to dress well and others when the combinations are not so happy. But this doesn't actually matter. I would be tempted to say that women or men who spend, in a visible way, too much time for appearence, aren't very smart. But this is not accurate at all. I see that appearence can be a self confidence boost for some, so they invest time and money in this. For others it isn't.

Well, that could be true somehow. We tend to have an instant image in our minds of what a person is most likely to be. But there are still those who pretend to be someone who they are not. So we really need top be careful on "branding" a person just by seeing how he/she presents himself/herself.

I do believe that the way people speak tells a lot about their education, the way they look say less. So I would not say that appearance Always says something about the knowledge. Also being rich/having a lot of money doesn't say anything about the knowledge. As soon as you hear someone speak you know enough (plus the way they behave, manners, way of walking ...).

Hi friend
Appearance says something about knowledge is true but only to some extent , it is not correct all the time here the proverb suits better ( All that Glitters may not supposed to be Gold ) so only with appearance we can't judge a person's knowledge , after speaking only we can confirm about the knowledge .

I think it is a pity that we judge one another by the way they speak or dress. By speak I suppose you mean accent. In my country you can tell the background of a person and their education from their accent. It is easy to make judgements from that and be wide of the mark.
Some people may have a lot to give but do not find it easy to open up because they are shy or inhibited in some way. It is a shame to overlook them because of this. It is said that still waters run deep and this certainly applies to people.

Yes appearance says quite a few things about someone. However, sometimes appearance can be quite deceitful as well. I like to observe people and try to figure out what goes on inside their heads. I never judge people based on their appearances, I judge them according to their actions instead. Honesty is above all important in order for people to trust you and believe in you no matter what.

Don't you think this is too prejudiced to the world. A wouldn't know what a good potato unless you peeled it. It could be so perfect on the skin, but once peeled, you will see the little worm eating inside it.
I am sorry but I disagree with your little theories. A person working in a corporate world, must dressed and stood in a very corporate manner. This is the "call of the society" but it is not always "norm".
An ordinary fish vendor would smell like fish and dressed (like fish no its a joke) simple entering in a simple restaurant would not mean the brain is as small as the fish' brain. You can never tell, wait until this person speaks, and listens to this person's words, this person could be a better manager than the one wearing tie and suit.

Yes, I think how you look, speak, and carry yourself will reflect your intelligence. I could easily detect such people and I know that people can easily see me and the real essence of me because I gesticulate a lot when I speak.
