Atlast the mixed emotions I felt last time, now it's already gone. My wife delivered my baby boy last February 01. It takes almost 12 hours labor. We stayed a week in the hospital because of the baby's Urinary tract infection (UTI), came from his mommy. Yesterday, we go out from the hospital at 6pm. Now, we enjoy caring our baby. Very happy

Congratulations!!! Are you a first time father? I know how exciting it is to have a baby. My eldest was also left in the nursery for 1 week, but he didn't have UTI. But it is because I had UTI in my last trimester of my pregnancy. They gave him preventive medicines and had him monitored because it is highly possible that I will pass it on to him too. But our case is, I was discharged after the 4th day (I'm CS by the way). So it was really sad for me to go home without him. We just visited him every day, until we finally took him home 27th of June 2010. Congratulations again! And best wishes to your family!

We are advice to discharge after 3 days but we choose to stay for the sake of our baby. We move to another hospital for my baby and we stay there for almost 4 days. The UTI was passed through his mom.

Maybe from the food you eat I have doubts she got the UTI from the foods my wife eat during her pregnancy period. Actually, she delivered our baby in a Public Hospital but after we found out that our baby has problem about the UTI, we decided to move in a private Hospital. We don't care about the bills at that time, until we found out we got a huge amount of hospital bill. Better I have my Philhealth which I paid more than a decade already, since my first job and then even I was outside the country.

That's really highly possible. But we moms do not also know where we got the infection because we are always careful when we are pregnant. We didn't extend our stay in the hospital because my room rate was very expensive. And even though we stay, we were only given schedules on when we should visit him. SO we decided to go home and just visited him daily. Good thing my 2nd baby was okay. he was room-in a day after my cs delivery. And we were discharged the 3rd day. Enjoy your parenthood! Take care of your health as you need to wake up in the middle of the night for feeding time so you really need enough rest and energy. But when he reaches 5 or 6 months, he can already sleep straight.

Hi, congratulations! It's cool that your baby made it on the month of hearts , more exciting. I just wonder, if the mother has UTI, she will pass it to the baby? How it was treated since the baby cannot have anit-biotics, or I'm wrong with this one? I have UTI also and your answer could help me.

Good that you were able to wait for it to be delivered. The feeling is different when you are actually there to witness it happening. I think you will really enjoy the first few days of that. The next few more days will be an almost sleepless nights since the feeding pattern of your baby will be erratic and will demand most of your time there. Congrats to the new proud parents.

Yeah... I remember mine would be every two hours we have to wake up at night and we would usually alternate with my wife doing that for the next 6 months or so before his sleep got longer like us adults. I sure hope that you can enjoy more time with him since I remember you were about to leave for work abroad?

I want to leave now but I am also worried about my wife and son so I need to stay for awhile to make sure they are all okay before I leave them. Although, I have good and helpful in-laws but I cannot depend on them. They are my family and it is my responsibility to provide them their needs not limited to financial but also emotional.

What were you feeling? You didn't go into the living room? My husband has seen a couple of my deliveries. Another one was witnessed by multiple family members (Ewww!) But my husband literally slept up until it was time to deliver.

I was waiting outside the delivery room from 6:02am until 4:30pm time my wife and my baby came out from the room. I was so excited. I hug and kiss the baby immediately. I cannot express my feelings for the first time I saw my own son.

Congulations on your new baby. 12 hour labor not bad and not two long compared some other mothers I've heard of or know. Take care of yourself and your family. Get lots of sleep when the baby is the sleep.

When we arrived at the hospital it was 1cm only, 2 hours after it become 2 cm. We arrived at 2:30am in the hospital but during her IE at 5:30am, it was 4cm. She entered in the delivery room after the IE. My wife stayed until 2pm she deliver our son.

My friend gave birth to her first baby 2 days ago and she was in labor for 22 hours. I was in labor with my first for 16 hours and then 6 hours with my second baby. I was having contractions for 3 weeks with preterm labor before I went in to active labor so it was annoying and I was so happy it only took 6 hours the women in the room next to me was at 10cm before I was and I as at 9.5cm and started having my son. Because he was my second baby the women next to me it was her first and she wasn't pushing right so the doctor stayed with me because it only took me 10 minutes to get him out. So mine and her kids are good couple of minutes a part.

Oh, he is so absolutely adorable and of course congratulations to both you and your wife on your beautiful new son. I know that there is no other feeling that you will ever experience in your life that is as great as the moment that a child is born. The moments when your wife was in labor with him are moments that will probably live on vividly in your life for all the rest of your days.
