Or maybe I hate iTunes. I have already tried troubleshooting, maybe one of you with an iPod can help me. First of all, any time I try uses iTunes, it freezes.
I got my daughter an iPod shuffle for her birthday. I have been trying all day to charge the dumb thing and I put some music on it. My computer SEES the iPod and it sees the music and I can even play the playlist - THROUGH the computer. I can't play the playlist on the iPod though because as soon as I disconnect it, it doesn't stay powered on. I have no idea why. I checked the trouble shoot thing and it said I had to reset it and so I did.... I even did whatever takes everything off it, and I made sure the latest updates were installed. I think I 'repaired' it too... whatever you do when it blinks green then orange then green - but it syncs and is recognized.
I was thinking maybe I need to transfer my music through iTunes instead of dragging and dropping from my music library, but that's how I've always done it on my players. I don't HAVE an iPod and this is why!! Is everything a different format or something? I'm wondering if maybe it's not charging through the usb or not holding a charge... or something weird?

Their service is good... but this is the first apple product I've ever actually owned . The problem with apple is that you have to filter everything through a secondary app - such as iTunes. I have never had to do that with my other music players - I had an rca lyra and then I got my sansa. Both of them were pure drag and drop from my music library straight to the music player with no extra software or step. My phone is the same way. I assumed I could do that with the iPod, no dice lol.

I see no problems with my Apple products. I think you should just contact an Apple store so that they can assist you directly. It may be a factory defect or improper plugging that caused such. They're usually easy to use.
Have a great mylot experience ahead!

Usually I would agree and say that Apple can be tempermental, I know I have had nothing but trouble from my Imac computer, however a few weeks ago I went into my local Apple store and purchased an Ipod shuffle, I connected it and was able to transfer from Itunes tracks that I wanted, and it also charged it up, you have to charge it for the first time for a minimum of 3 hours. I hope you have sorted the problem out, it can be very irritating and frustrating when it doesn't work properly or there are error messages that you simply can't fathom out.

It's me... I'M broken lol. The iPod is great. Once I realized I HAD to filter EVERYTHING through iTunes, it worked fine. This is a test for me.... if I can find a cheap iPod Touch, I will get one of those for my daughter next. The nice thing about the touch is that you can download games like Angry Birds and a text app, which means she would have her own games and be able to text without having to give her a phone lol. However, it works like the shuffle so I guess I better get this right before I buy another apple.
