A cat's normal life span is 12 to 18 years, depending on the breed. Some have lived up to 25 years. If yours don't live for even a year, you are not a suitable person to be caring for any animals!

Is your cat an outdoor cat or an indoor cat? That seems like a very young age for a cat to die. My cat is sixteen years old. We keep her indoors day and night. Why? Because we have coyotes in our neighborhood. We feel that our cat would not live to a long life if we let her outside. Also, we feel that the weather could shorten an animal's life----the rain, the cold air, the windy days etc. Also, we would worry that she would get ran over by a car or a truck. I really don't think she would live to this age if we kept her outside. What type of food do you give your ca? We buy canned food for our cat and once in awhile we feed her from our own foods that we eat, such as pieces of chicken, salmon, tuna fish. I think it is important to watch a cat's diet. I have heard that one should never feed their cat or dog chocolate.

The life span of a cat will vary, depending on many factors. First is if the cat is an outside cat the lifespan is about 7 years. If they are kept inside where they are protected it can be as long as 25 years. Murphy, my lynx point Siamese, is 19 years old now. Ralphie, the semi feral cat is approximately 17 to 19 years old. Dinglebeary, my Maine Koon cat is 13 years old. Murphy is strictly an inside cat, although I have a screened in patio where the cats can go to get fresh air and the idea of being allowed outside. Along with the factor of whether the cats are allowed outside or not; diet plays a huge part in their life span. Buying and feeding them the cheapest cat food a person can find won't lengthen the cat's life. Also, giving them plenty of love and attention helps, plus making sure that they get plenty of exercise... and of course making sure that they get their shots and aren't exposed to any cat viruses that could shorten their lives. People wonder about not allowing their cats outside at night, but beyond the chance of being hit by a vehicle there is the possibility of being attacked by predators. This includes dogs, raccoons, other larger cats, and other indigenous predators in a person's area. Plus there is the chance of the cat catching a deadly disease while they are wandering the streets...or eating something that is poisoned. Taking on a furry little bundle of kitty person is a wonderful job, but it also is a bit demanding at times, like making sure that our furry babies are safe and well loved. I am so sorry that you lose your babies so quickly, maybe some of what I wrote will help you out.

A cat who is well fed, taken for its yearly injection to the surgery, allowed to sleep in the house to avoid the dangers of the night, can live for many years. My cat lived for 15 years until his kidneys began to fail and the vet. advised me to have him put to sleep because he was in pain. If a cat is not neutered its life can be shorter, tom cats get into fights and get infections from bites and scratches and femals have litter after litter which weakens them eventually. There must be something wrong for your cats to die when they are still so young. Is someone putting out poison?

Oh we have a cat , a very old one now , age is like 10 years . He is already so big , standing like a tiger . He rarely not fulfilling his task in catching rats because bit old before he was a good rat catcher . He loves to eat fish and meat. We don't give him a left over food. Try again your luck in cats , you will find healthy ones just have extra care with it.

all cats can live up to 10 years old, if you give them the proper care and if you are willing to spend money for their health care. if your cats cant last for years, you are doing something wrong. Cats now can live more up to 20 years if you are willing to invest money for their health care. also feeding them leftovers is not healthy. feed them cat food.

Are you getting your cats fixed? That can help keep them from wanting to go outside. Now, my youngest is about 7 months old, but the oldest cat I ever had was Sassy, who was 20.
