I have money in my Paypal account. I have for a few weeks now., I'm letting it build until I'm ready to cash it out to my bank account.
However today I'm irked because I received an email from Paypal entitled You've got it now spend it. Now Myself I don't think that just because i have it there means i need to go shopping. I think that a business such as Paypal needs to keep their nose out of my business and not be pushing me to go spend my money. Why waste my time with pushy emails????You've got it,
now spend it!
"Hello saundyl(ok i replaced my fullname with the nickname),
You have money in
your PayPal account.
It's yours to spend any way you want. There are millions of places for you to use your money like Starbucks, eBay, Cineplex, and many more websites around the globe. "
Do you spend your paypal $$ as soon as you get them? Do you let them build? Would it bother you to get an email pushing you to spend what yiou have in your account?

The funny thing is, when I have some money, I almost don't want to spend it. Right now, I am just letting my money stay there until such time that I really need to spend on something.

I neglect their emails. Many times I got it from them but it won't allow me to push myself to spend my money anywhere else. I want to save and build my Paypal funds for a specific purpose. I have plan already on my money. They should wait me until the day I am ready to spend it.

It's because in every country there are certain laws or rules to be followed. Paypal are very strict in transferring funds to credit cards and bank accounts.
Sometimes I understand Paypal why they encourage us to spend our money to different online store so that we can used our money and not letting it sleep inside our account.

They should not be sending those kinds of. emails out. Its your money to do what you want with. I definitely think they should mind their own business! For some people that would make them want to spend that money...

Yeah, I got those emails from time to time. It's usually when I have not used my Paypal balance for some time. I also let the balance to accumulate in my Paypal account and only use it for some online transactions which are really rare. They try to 'remind' me that I have a balance there. Maybe they are afraid that I'd forget my own money there or something...

I actually saw an article (work for a law office now) about estate planning and the internet and how not having the will/executors informed of current passwords, pins and urls can affect the estates. Even things like keeping a blog up or taking it down - when its a purchased domain are covered in some wills.

I havent lost any money so far from paypal. I have heard of people who have had trouble with them.
The biggest problem i had was i had a credit card that was no longer valid and paypal wouldnt let me delete it - 2 years after the expiry - as it claimed there were still pending payments on it. I had to jump through hoops to get it removed.

I don't use my paypal money on spending online I just withdraw it and when its on my bank I just spend it or save it for my daily expenses. Right now I have some money in my paypal and I'm just waiting for another site to pay me and then I will withdraw it.

I do feel that pushing people to spend their money is out of order.I would never spend money from my bank if I had any in there, so I would never spend money in my paypal if I had some in there.
I think that it is really wrong for people to try to get people spending their money or even suggesting that they should, all because they have some in their account.

I normally don't spend it either the money in my paypal account unless there was something that I saw that I would really like. Now I'm thinking of doing the same as you and just leaving it in my account and let it build up and whenever I'm ready to use it then I will. I would have the same feeling if I got some email forcing me or keep reminding me that I should spend my money that I've saved up in my email account. I think that you are right that paypal should mind their own business and who cares if I don't spend the money that I have in there.

They wont let you withdraw it to a bank account until there is 15 dollars in it. I had 14.82 the day i tried and found that out So its been sitting there ever since! I find it kinda funny that you can put a dollar or two in but have to wait to a higher value to take it back if you dont want to shop.

Well fortunately they just offers you the notification. For some peoples knowing some offers with discount rates might be interesting but for some it's annoying.
I think Paypal just do whatever they had to do to receive more revenue because that's what they doing.
Regarding the amount of money which can be withdraw to local bank account. I think there's a fee to pay if we withdraw less than certain amount. So It's not funny at all if we withdraw less than that amount and the fee equals the amount of withdraw we made :).
By the way I always withdraw my money as long as the amount surpass the minimal amount of money which can be withdrawn without fee to my local bank account. Because if you accrued your money in Paypal you won't get any interest, Paypal did.

Ah...that luxury ...I havent had for several months now. :) Our Central Bank withdraws our dollars the day it is credited into our paypal accounts. We have no rights to retain it in dollars. If I want to save in dollars, only myLot can help. However, here too there is a limit. Given the constraints, I can only hope for better times ahead. :)

No, because money's not worth anything UNTIL you spend it!
The only reason to 'let it build' is to spend it on something BIG!

I never receive this kind of emails from paypal but if so, probably i would just delieve it and take it as never being sent to me.
So do not bother by it and it does not force you to spend your money on buying any stuff. You can also take it as kind of a scam

If you don'ty want to spend it on their Fool and Money account, put it where it will benefit you. Invest it or put it in a high yielding account such as a Money Market.
Don't take their comments personal but rathet move it to a place that will benefit you and thumb your nose at PayPal!

I let my paypal and my amazon build up all the time. I am in no rush to spend it. The other thing I hate is that any place I have ever shopped online tries to get me to come back and shop. they are everywhere, saying Spend!, Spend! Spend!

Yeah I've received those annoying emails too it's just their attempts to entice members to spend there money, it's become quite common with paypal I just ignore those emails until I'm ready to spend, paypal is affiliated with a lot of other online stores they want members to funnel their money back into their affiliates it's all about money going back to them.

Well, I have been receiving such an email from Paypal every month. I really don't bother to read them out as I have read it previously. i just delete them as soon as I see them! For me, I have been accumulating my online earnings in Paypal. I don't still need the money so I am targeting an amount wherein I can waive the fee once I withdraw at a certain amount level. That is why I have been consistently getting those notification emails as you are. But still, such mails don't actually bug me up. I'd rather receive such mail rather than get phishing emails and spam ones.

Hi saundyl!
I also received those kinds of emails but I would just disregard those mails. I also never open my paypal account through the links provided in the email.
I am also saving the amount because I wanted to transfer it to my bank when it reach a certain amount.
Have a nice day!

Hi friend, i am not interested in spending my money unnecessarily. I am from India and paypal will automatically transfer our account balance to our bank account due to our country rules. Every time i will get my payment in bank account asap. I will save it in my bank and spend it whenever necessary

I do not leave that much funds in my paypal account. I either spend it to something that I really need or just transfer most of it in my account. I have a friend who just leave her money in her paypal account. I once asked her if she knew if her money there earns any interest. Then after a few days, her account was hacked and her money was all but taken. Until now, she hasn't recovered her money yet.
