What's the silliest excuse for a reality show?

I tend to hate reality shows, especially anything involving the Khardashians or Iced Loves Coco or the Simmons Family Jewels. Then you have Redneck Island which is just a take off on Survivor. Daytime TV is flooded with courtroom shows and HLN adds to this by showing real courtroom cases. There's gator and critter getters, moonshiners, cooking contests, storage auctions, movie make up, and pawn shop shows. Now the latest show is coming from AMC. AMC has made such great shows like Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and Breaking Bad but now they are going to show Immortalized, a competition between taxidermists. Where ddo they get these ideas?

I am furious with AMC. as you mentioned they have produced so many fine shows until they decided to air a show about taxidermists. Who in the world will be watching this sickening useless program? and in competetion form yet!i really hope it's cancelled after the first episode As to where they get these ideas from, it really doesn't take much to produce a so called reality show, all you really have to do is think of the most outrageous topic then find people willing enough to allow you to video tape them either at work or at home.and of course they're paid ridiculous amounts of money for doing this so, of course they agree to do it. it's getting to the point where the airways are so filled with this junk, it's hard to find a program that isn't a reality show, pathetic!

Yea and they also have another new show coming out. Freakshow. I wonder how the so called Sy Fy channel missed that one. Gradually it;s coming out that a lot of the so called reality shows (Auction Wars, Ice Road Truckers, Amish Mafia, Bachelor, Man vs Wild, etc.) are all faked. I just thought more of AMC that this. I thin PBS is gradually being left as the only real network.

Actually, I've read lately that Ramsey's other show, Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares could be faked. There have been a few reports in newspapers by a writer who were present as customers when they were filming. The reports stated that some of the customers were bogus and were hired to be there. They were instructed to complain loudly about the food, whether it was good or not. Ramsey also did not provide any interaction or advice to the restaurants operators when he was off camera. He is also being sued by a chef from New York who has had problems getting hired after being criticized on the show.

I have to admit i do watch a few reality shows especially the competition ones like Amazing Race Survivor & Hells Kitchen i enjoy these types of programs and at least their real. i'm not surprised that the ones you mentioned may be faked especially the Bachelor i also beleive Storage Wars may be faked as well since so many people show up at the auctions and yet it's always the same 6 or 7 people winning the lockers. AMC needs to revamp their whole program lineup since before long they'll be losing viewers by the millions, i'm just surprised they haven't already.

The Amazing Race I sometimes watch in part to see when they send the contestants. Survivor tends to have a lot of back stabbing. And why do they always put people in the tropics. Is it to make sure that the women all wear skimpy clothes. Why don't they put the contestants on an island off southern Alaska? When it comes to reality shows what did Ben and Kate do except have 8 kids? Yet Kate winds up on Dancing with the Stars and talk shows. Plus the kids on the show were not paid. Then they would upset the kids by making them do different things. The worst case was when they filmed a Christmas show before it was Christmas. The little kids didn't understand why they were allowed to unwrap Christmas presents and then had to give then back because it was not Christmas.

I love some reality shows , never watch the ones you mention though because I dont like to focus on one celebrity and what they doing . I love the amazing race , top model , survivor and big brother . I like reality shows with competition and elimination . I do have some I watch even though I hate them lol , like Jersey shore , bachelorette and the bachelor .

Jersey Shore is most likely scripted and involves a lot of people that I can't stand. A lot of the contestants on The Bachelor(ette) say the shows are scripted. They are told what to say and bullied into saying things if they refuse. The force different contestants into being villains and actually have started hiring people to fulfull different roles.

I believe they are scripted too, I dont think people would really just act that way on tv for no reason .

I think some of those shows like Survivor pay the people to be on them, in addition to the grand prize winner. The paid losing contestants sign contracts to not disclose what they are paid.

I have not many reality shows. The only one I watch regulary, when it is in,is Deadlest Catch on Discovery. About the Alaskan Carp fisherman. It is a great show! With others, I can't stand the Bachelor or Bachelorette! Some never find love on the show and if they do most of them break up soon after! It is crazy! I have lot of friends who are inot reality TV like with Survivor,American Idiol and yes the Kardashians! As long as people are interested in reality shows they will continue to keep coming! I will stick with Deadlest Catch!

I'm with you on anything to do with the Khardashians or Iced T. I can't stand them. I have to say though I do love The Simmons Family Jewels. Its a very interesting show where I learned what an ambition and generous man Gene Simmons is. He is totally different from the man I thought he was. A competition between taxidermists, give me a break with this garbage already! I'm one who loved regular TV programing whether all of my life, regardless if it was drama, comedy or crime stories. Now I'm down to watching three shows on regular tv a week. Scandal, The Following and Body of Proof. I even stopped watching American Idol. I'm watching movies from my Apple TV on most nights now because TV stinks. As long as people with no brains continue to watch this crap they will continue to give us the same garbage because people rather watch mindless TV then intelligent well written entertaining shows.

I have a few network shows that I watch. I watch Blue Bloods (in part due to Tom Seleck) and I watch Person of Interest (Michael Emerson has another interesting role after being on Lost). The Following with Kevin Bacon looks like it will be good. Two of my shows, Fringe and Last Resort were cancelled. It gets me sometimes at night when I go through 70 or so channels and can't find any dramas or worse yet any movies worth watching.
