It took me a while trying to get the hang of this wonderful site. It was not easy though. There was so much I had to read, learn and even face some opposition here and there which sometimes made me think whether this is the place for me to really unwind. I did not give up and finally I can say yes, I do get the relaxation that I need after the hectic activity in my real world. How has it been with you? Did you also have hurdles to overcome? How long did it take you to say that you know it all or are you still groping in the dark?

It's been a great first year for me here. A lot of learning in the beginning and not too much opposition as I purposely avoid such possibility as much as I can...
I'm sure I'll probably still find things to learn more here, but I can safely say that I pretty much get the hang of this site on my own rhythm to suit my own enjoyment.

Craning one's neck is not a wise thing to do here and you knew it right from the start it looks like!. So you have your own rhythm. Is it in sharps, flats or natural !
@echo - I see you are treading cautiously here. Good going there!

Hi ak!
It is a great place for me to unwind and make me feel diverted from the agonies and problems of day to day life. I have learnt a lot here through various discussions and am still learning. I did not face much hurdles as such. I avoid participation in those discussions which could raise conflicts or could go controversial. I also do not believe in starting discussion on complex issues. I more or less find discussions of my choice to share my thoughts, whenever I come here.

You may term the non controversial stuff as tame stuff. It is your perception.
I do not believe in entering into controversies in real life also, as long as I could avoid it.
My star is 'red' since ages and am least bother about it.

So you go for the tame stuff. Do you do that in your real life too! I started very well here straight off with a 9 star with hardly any input and then later a 10 but I know what affected my rating here. Those things do not bother me any more not after I went through:

I've been very busy lately but still everyday I open my account to check who responded my own discussions and the notification which post of mine responded by fellow lotters. I am glad, for more than 5 years still I am here interacting with different members from around the globe.

Congratulations on being a father.
If a person as busy as you could come here it does speak a lot of this site being a respite for those seeking relaxation from their hectic lifestyle. From your participation it seems you have been here for some time now.

If you worry about earning that will make you tense and you will not enjoy. Let your main aim be to enjoy and while you are doing that you will see you will be able to perform much better and that performance will earn you.

To be honest, I signed up here three years ago. I stopped because I was very busy, still busy now but I have few times to spend here. Anyway, surprised that my account still exist and I'm back.
I'm still not very familiar with everything here. I don't even know what the star beside my name and avatar means, lol! I'm so stupid, sorry for my ignorance. You are right, this is not an easy to understand-it-all site. This is so unlike other social networking site. Not that user friendly I must say. But I'm sure we'll get the hang of it sooner. I hope so. Have a nice day!

The star that you see is your user reputation.
The user (activity) rating is is the number in brackets alongside our username.
Both are explained here:

Hover over your star and you will see 93/100.
When it reaches 95/100 it should then eventually turn blue which is the highest.
It all depends on how others rate your activity.

Rewards come to those who do not give up. And the hardships we faced in the beginning is one of the things that makes staying on here feel worth it. I remember my first days too, i was so upset about the earnings as it was going so slow at first, until I've read this discussion made by mysdianait entitled the secret of earning in mylot. It said not to look at earnings and true enough, it worked. The time i spent looking at earnings became more priductive and i am having more fun than ever.

Now that I have settled well here - for me earnings have never been the objective - I thoroughly enjoy this place and in fact I think I am addicted to it. My cupboard is in a mess and it needs to be worked on and that job is pending since long thanks to my spending time here!
One should just concentrate on having fun here and earnings will automatically pile up. Good to know you have learnt the ropes too!

@Hatley Yes it is me hatley. Thank you. although it is a glitch as i have uploaded that picture from last month but deleted it after two days because i realized that there are so many people on here that are from my country and i felt as if some of my responses on mylot are very different from how people see me over here in real life. I am more honest in mylot and could not afford others to recognize me. But then i guess you could still see my picture. I wonder what i can do about it?
@allknowing i have the same experience too because mylot is the first thing i do in the morning now. By the moment i wake up, i check my email and see if someone commented to me responses. I have to go to the clinic everyday at 9 am and sometimes i get so focused on responding it is so hard for me to put down my device and get ready for work. There was this time where in it was almost 9 but i hadn't even taken my bath yet. Now i limit my early morning mylotting and set an alarm for me to actually put down the device and get ready for work. It is so addictive i think i even mylotted in one of my dreams. I meant, i dreamt about responding to a discussion.

I don't grope in the dark at my age
I don't know it all either and I still have a user who calls me m'am and points out errors that I make when explaining about how things work here. Thank goodness they are watching all the time!
When I rejoined second time around after getting booted the first time I made certain that I would do my best to get it right as this is the best place online to settle and make a home. I love it here and I am nowhere else (except Fb reading the news, band updates and listening to music).
I have so many friends here now that I would be lost if myLot was to disappear or if I was without a connection

What!?? I can't believe it
At least you did learned your lesson. Most people who get banned from a site, come back, cause more trouble, and then can't figure out what they did wrong. You're the first person I heard of to understand their mistake and correct it.

Some have a one track mind I see! There is no reason why you should not be groping in the dark your age notwithstanding!
When one starts here it is not known how deep one's commitment to this site would be and once there I have hardly known anyone getting away unless they have totally misunderstood the site coming here with the idea of looking for their 'El Dorado'!!

I think everyone in the retirement center should mylot. Old people are full of experiences and I'd really like to learn from them. I think it will help them as well as i dont think you do a lot of things in a retirement center. I know old people like talking about their experiences and it sure will be useful especially to a lot of younger people who still have a long way to go.

I've gotten more interested in the site at least. When I first got here it seemed like everything was about such childish topics as "What is your favorite color?", so I didn't stick around much and didn't log in for quite awhile. I've been a member 5 years and only cashed out twice because of that. I come back and things seem to have really improved.

I joined here in October 2010 and must say I have been paid several times. I have had the opportunity to work on tasks that paid well. myLot is strict in that poll type topics are not encouraged here. All guidelines violations just disappear and more get deleted if they are reported.
There is no other site that is packed with goodness as much as myLot!

Many of us feel the same way. This site provides an opportunity to interact with users at a global level exchanging and sharing information and while gaining knowledge we also get paid for that. This online activity does provide us the relaxation we need to stay away from our hectic real world occasionally..

I have made so many wonderful friends here and learned so much too. =) I am so glad I came here and decided to stay around.

I have yet to meet a user here can say that they know everything about this site. That is quite an intriguing revelation! I do know there is ambiguity in certain areas and that is where Admin takes a decision specially with regard to a post being a guidelines violation or not. In other words we all are still groping in the dark!

I'm still pretty new at this so like you I'm still in the dark. I'm getting pennies, and I don't know when they pay you. Do you know how much you have to make in order for them to pay you? I've been on this site for about two weeks and so far have made 71cents. I know they send money to pay pal but I never got asked for my pay pal E-mail number. Do you know anything about this? I write about two or three discussions a day. How much do you usually write in one day? If I knew I waas getting a lot more money, I would spend more time on this site.

Hi, Happielady. We are paid the 15th of each month, as long as we reach our min payout ($10.00) by the end of the month. If not you'll have to wait til the following month.
To add your pay pal email go to preferences payment information.
# 1. This is not a question and answer site where you just pick the best answer and move on. This is a discussion site, Respond back to as many people as your able because this will make it more likely that people join your topics By the way , its not about how many posts you have, but the quality of said posts.

Hi allknowing! I settled pretty well here right from day one because it was absolutely new to me and I had no expectations whatsoever.I met friendly people but initially it was just one or two.Slowly, I started getting real friends; now these friends whom I used to interact with a lot are not here but I am still comfortable in the site with whoever is remaining . No other forum has engaged me this much and not a day passes without my peeping in here.

I think I turned to myLot with a mountain full of problems. I came here as a depressed individual..or nearly one. I had recently learnt something unpleasant about my mother's life, and to top it all, everybody was forcing themselves or their children on me...the very people who had been bad to me, or indifferent to me. So I had reacted, and it did not feel that good at that point of time. But things got sorted out because of the patience of people like you, Kala, Deepu, Dawny, Hatley, Perga, and people like Saphy and Lamby and Sunnycool kept me away from my painful thoughts. Now, things are settled in personal life. I did have differences. But nothing that I had to huff and puff...and get angry about. I am not angry with anybody out here. You all are angels...how can I be angry with you all..:)
My saviors..:) And myLot has helped me to turn into a more positive person. I too want others to feel positive about their lives with whatever little help I can offer from this site.
I have also shed some of my notions when I came here. When I arrived here, I used to think that divorce hurts the children, so the women should hang on, for the sake of children. Then I read about abuse in marriage, which I had not seen, and I also correlated some of it to what went on in my life. In the past, I had not spared much time to think so much. I realized why it can be wrong to be in such a marriage. Likewise, I realized that not every drunkard's family is ungrateful one. So in a way, I have become a more rational and broad minded person thanks to people here. :) I hope to grow more in wisdom going forward. :)

Yes...I mean...those days I was saddled with news and raw with pain...and nobody to turn to for moral support....most people I know here are a whole lot younger, and others are elderly still entrenched in the "family" concept, and of course the relatives who simply wouldnt side me. Really really needed friends...who would stand by me through thick and thin...having isolated myself from my set long ago due to financial problems...I mean I did have very very lean times, and I didnt want my friends to be pitying me. So I started avoiding them...and over the years, we drifted apart. Now, I have friends again in my life. And nice and kind and caring and people with no ulterior motives...and people who are honest and not afraid to tell me the truth..love you guys...a lot.

Most of us are sailing in the same boat. My pc gives me a bit of trouble when I close it and then open again. I now keep it on throughout the day!
And to think that some leave this place disgruntled. They do not know what they are missing. The trouble is they do not wait to know the value of this place. They come here with a feeling that one can earn big!
