Did anyone else know the Pope was a Nazi?

February 11, 2013 3:59pm CST
I was scrolling through Twitter and came across information regarding the beloved Pope...he was a Nazi. I'm not sure if anyone else knew, or how long it took them to find out. I can't be the only one who didn't know though. Have any of you heard the news? Or did you already know?

Are you just saying that because he is German? My boss is of German lineage and she is surrounded by people of color and she aint a Nazi. can you elaborate or at least show an evidence on how he is a Nazi, he is only guilty until proven. There are German members here and I dont think they will love what are you saying right now.,

I'm sorry to have offended you, that was not my intention. I've read it and wanted to see if it were true. I shouldn't have asked on here, I realize that now, my apologies to everyone.

Yes, there has been speculation about this. However, neither the Pope nor any member of his immediate family joined the NSDAP (Nazi Party). In fact, his father was critical of the Nazi government

No, he wasn't. Tweets gone wild. Just because he was a German Catholic doesn't mean he joined the Nazi party. And just because Susan Sarandon called him a Nazi doesn't make him one either. http://atheism.about.com/od/benedictxvi/i/RatzingerNazi.htm

I read it on Twitter and wanted to check with everyone to see if it was true. No offence intended.

No offense taken. Just setting the record straight. Just because it's on the internet does NOT make it true. And French models aren't always French models. (

Hi, He is a German growing up in Hitler's Germany, there's no reason he could avoid that fact. Maybe he knows a thing or two about Nazism but that doesn't qualify him for that title unless he made it to the higher ranks of that infamous political party. I am aware of the midnight initiation rites, the ancient ceremonial traditions of the Hitler Youth, eventually into Himmler's SS but I doubt if the Pope made it there being in the seminary most of the time. I myself is an ex-seminarian, being inducted into military life in my college days via the ROTC program but was not absorbed into the organization having a different view about that kind of life. I think he knew about Hitler, about his slaughter of the Jews and the world war. But then, there's nothing much he can do about it then or risk his own life.

hi VikkiiEvaans.. Seems Sarandon is the latest movie star to bash the Pope...and there are still many others who bash Catholics..not speaking of you because I noted you called him 'our beloved' Pope... I am a non practicing Catholc and although I criticise the Church for many things I think it's sad when some make up things ..good grief isn't there enough to criticize that is true?? Here is a little info in case you or others want to read up about it... ....."The pope, born Joseph Ratzinger, grew up in Nazi Germany. This next bit is from a 2009 Los Angeles Times article: 'In the 1997 biography, "Salt of the Earth," Ratzinger said he was registered against his will in the Hitler Youth by his seminary and had no connection to the group after ending his religious studies. He was later conscripted into the German army, at age 16, for what he called "relatively harmless" infantry duty from August 1943 to September 1944. According to historical evidence, he shared his family's anti-Nazi views and never joined the Nazi party......." - See more at: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/2011/10/susan-sarandon-nazi-pope-benedict.html#sthash.SiuxwyGT.dpuf

He may be a Nazi and he may not be. point is people are just tweeting about things because they can. Maybe it's a joke or they heard him called a Nazis so they say he is one. I mean do you believe everything you read on the internet? My husband has found wrong things on the internet and it's been on the news that people lie on the internet. I mean if someone say o yahoo chat chatted with you and told you he was a gorgeous french model like in the commercial i saw once. people joke and lie on the internet and put things they believe to be true on there just because they can. Now twitter anyone can tweet anything they want just because they can and you don't know who it is because you don't see their face and don't know their real name or location so they think they can get away with tweeting things like this. Have you ever heard of the man in the moon? This is true now there really is a man living in the moon. Also the moon is made of cheese so he will have something to eat. there are ways to find out if something online is true. I mean did anyone tell you that is friend or family to you did you hear it on the news or read it in a news magazine or hear this from people that know the pope personally what? Go find out some where legit and not the internet if it is true before having this discussion.
