I was by myself at work, and have to do the deposit by myself.
A cop was driving around the parking lot stopped and walked to the machine with me. Now some may not think this is unnormally. But around here you don't see cops for months.
He was saying a few stores had been robbed at gun point, they never caught the people. I just shook my head morons from teh city move up here, and the crime comes with them. When I was done work the cop walked me to my car, I remember walking miles home from babysitting as a teen in the middle of the night, and noone flinched or worried.

That's scary. It's sad when places that were safe come to this. Hopefully the police will catch whomever is doing this, and they can find a way to prevent this from reoccurring while letting people feel safe at work.

I actually don't think the fact that the cop was willing to accompany to your car and such is a bad thing at all, in fact I think it is quite the opposite and this particular police officer was going above and beyond his call of duty.
When I was in college, we were able to call the campus security and they would accompany us to different places on campus if that was something that we so desired. I never took advantage of this service as I'm a very independent person, but I do know that there were several people that would do that and we were living in a very low crime, upscale area in Louisville, KY.

You're probably still as safe as you ever were, but the perception of danger has increased around you. City people bring their fears and paranoia with them.

Unfortunately times have changed, but thankfully good policemen still do their job. You were lucky to have an escort and if he deemed it necessary perhaps you should think twice before you take deposits to the bank by yourself. Crooks watch times and habits when people are vulnerable so it is better to be safe than sorry.

everywhere in the world is getting more crazy , crime rate is getting higher , the crazies are out . I would not walk alone at night no matter what part of the world I am living .
My parents used to be able to walk late and enjoy the innocent of life but we never have that in this time , those days are long gone .

Days of walking home for miles for anyone is over no matter where you live in my opinion. Today crime is up everywhere and you really can't trust anyone in my opinion. You have to be so careful in today's world. It is so different from the days when I was going to school in the 60's and 70's. I feel so bad for the children of today because most don't know the freedom we had as children back in the day compare to today. The innocence is all gone and I believe children have fear nowadays.

I am not sire about your town but it seem just like every
other place...life changes and so do people places and things.
Some of the things that I did when I wa young I would certainly
not even attempt to these days...Some of the places I use to
visit, I would just not go there these days..People are just
so different these days..
I am glad they excorted you to and from the deposit box, that
can be very dangereous..Be VERY careful...
