My husband and I have debt. Before my husband and I met he borrowed some money, and he invested it in stocks. Unfortunately things didn't go as he planned and he lost all of the money. It was a pretty large amount and it will take us 3 more years to pay off the debt. In 2016 the debt will finally be gone and we will have more money to spend every month. At the moment I work in the weekends, because we need the extra money, but in the 2016 when we finally get rid of the debt I won't have to work in the weekends anymore and I look forward to that. We have our own house and need money for that every month, but fortunately we don't have to pay for the car every month, because have already paid for it.

I have one credit card (still active) that i still need to settle. It has grown huge because of the interests compounded. Argh hate it! but i pay 100% more than the minimum amount each month, still am not able to finish it off. We used this card 6 years ago when we were really "poor" and had to roll the money that we have. Luckily, we were able to maintain membership and still enjoys perks from it. I have not thought of loans to pay it off as others have done here, as it is acquiring another problem to solve a problem. On our assumption we could have paid it off by early next year (yey!)

Actually, I have to say that our family is actually finally beginning to find ourselves in a much better financial situation than we've been in for the last several years. You see, we only have to make one more payment on our huge credit card debt and then that is going to be a thing of the past. In addition to that, we also are almost done with our trial payments on our loan modification and that means that will be a change for us that is made permanent and that is something that is going to be saving us some money as well.

I guess sometimes it is not how many people we owe but also how much we owe. So when you are if we have a lot of debts, which is the unit of measure on your mind? I won't even dare declare the debt (in either dimension) I have. It can get demoralising.

I share the similar experience. I had four credit cards previously and I owe a lot to each of the banks. I also had a lot of bills to pay every month before like for the internet, cable, and telephone. It seemed so stressing for me to think about all of these bills each month so I decided to clear all my debts. I terminated my internet connection and just transferred to a prepaid connection. I also closed three of my cards. Now, I feel less worry since I only carry one credit card which I just use for emergency purpose and I only pay for my postpaid phone since I really need it. The lesson here is just to spend for things that you really need. Do not be an impulse buyer. Manage your finances wisely.

I have to honestly admit that I do have a lot of debt. I don't know how or when I became so financially crippled. I am trying to better myself and climb out of this debt. It is a slow process but I am determined to make it.

Who doesn't these days? LOL! Honestly, yes i have, and probably it would be a continues cycle on my part as i got 10 mouths to feed and i'm the head of the family and even though i'm good, in fact, very good in math, budgeting has been impossible, lol! But then again, once in awhile some things come up to make both ends meet.

With me, I don't have debt. I remember when I am employed I get tempted with the loan offer. I got big money instantly I bought so many things with that money. However, I did not expect to lose my job so I worried about how to pay that loan. Luckily my sister had a project and she provided the amount so I resolved that debt. Since I started earning my money I promise not to borrow money if possible or spend now and pay later scheme. My internet bill is prepaid. It's a headache so it's better to budget your money.

I think one big debt is enough. Do not over did. I only have debt for housing. That is enough to make a headache. Will not add the debt in the near future

Hai, I am in debt trap due to some personal loans and credit cards. For last 4 years I am struggling for life. 75% of my earning has gone to pay the interest to the banks. I lost every thing. I could not buy a two wheeler till now. I could not give a good family life to my family. I have cleared several loans and credit cards debt now. But the problem is that due to the low credit rating (CIBIL) I am unable to take any type of loan now, even for vehicle loan. 5 yers back I have purchased a flat which sold during these period and now I am staying in a rental house. With my experience about these debt problem, when I am guiding others not to take c cards and personal lons if not necessary, several people has accepted by my guidence. But who has not given any important of my words has fell in the same trap and now crying and asking me how to come out of the situation.

When I was 18 I stupidly took out loans and got credit cards, I used to be in a lot of debt which drew me to sites like these. How ever after being very careful with money and nearly 10 years on i will be out of debt by christmas and never again will I be foolish to spend what I can't afford.

Well, I do not have a job, no money, but luckily I did not even debt! And I am careful not to make it! However, I am maintened still by my dear parents, I know that at my age of almost 38 years is not a very wise thing. However, my future is all uncertain. I live in Italy, my country is going through an economic and deep crisis, so that it is very difficult nowadays to find work (as well as you have pointed out in your discussion.) Debts? No thank you! I much prefer running out of "vices".

I am a bachelor and no need to be troubled by debts problems. But, I helped one of my friend[?]my cheque as guarantee to avail a loan of Rs 50000/ [ About 1000 dollars]. He never paid it, and now have no income to pay. It is now a court case against me too. I think settling internet bills may not be a big issue to you.

I don't have any debt. But it doesn't meaning I have a lot of money. I will not borrow money if it is something not really important for my life. And I will not in debt if I cannot pay it.
