Why it is so

I have put my real age and my real place but i not put my real name and my real photo in avatar. I just tell my real name to my best friend and if someone want to see my real photo they can look at my profile.

When I checked my profile, I even wrote my hometown. LOL. I made this account four or five years ago. I wanted to change my address before but I don't know how. My profile picture is just fine. I like it so I don't have to change it. Have a great weekend.

I have nothing to hide. I do know at least one person who doesn't want people to know who she is on here. She posts personal things that she doesn't want to get back to people. Another I know is just very serious about maintaining her privacy. Everybody's different, I guess.

I have my own picture, age and country as you well know, Bhuwar. I did not stay in mylot to earn money which is not enough to buy bread everyday. I came to talk with friends and I feel that stating what I am helps others answer to my posts and accept my points of views. There are many times when I have checked a person`s profile, specially to check the age. Depending on that I will give an answer. Take care!

The picture in my profile picture is the real me. But i don't put my real name. By being such, i still have my privacy, professor. I like my friends to take a cue of my age from my discussions, though.

Hello Prof ! I am a real person but i can't place my real name in public because sometimes i discussed very emotional thing , i believed i need to protect myself , my reputation. Often i poured all my emotions here and not all can understand that that is why i need to hide . Hope people can understand . Have a great weekend !

Well my details are all real. The only thing I havent done here is put up my photo. I am not very comfortable doing that though I trust Mylot.

I don't have anything to hide and that is the reason that my user name has a large part of my given name in it. That is the reason that I choose to not hide my age or my location in my profile. I am the same person on the computer as I am in real life and that is the reason that I choose to not hide any of those facts about myself. I sometimes think that those people that do hide those simple things about themselves are either out to try to hurt other people or they really do have something that they are trying to hide from on the internet.

This is a place where users can discuss everything threadbare specially when they do not reveal their identity. Many want solutions to their personal problems and remaining incognito helps. There is also the fear of morphing if real pictures are uploaded specially where ladies are concerned. The cyber world security discourages about uploading of real information.

I did not hide anything here except for my avatar lol. But, it is not actually hiding, before, i use my real photo and post as my avatar but then, I see this present avatar of mine in Facebook and I found it so very cute. So I copied it.

I used to leave out my personal details because i want to remain anonymous. I am far too honest on mylot and i dont want to risk the people i care about because I've been too honest about them as well. And the Internet is a piblic place, anyone can have access to your data if they wanted to and if they were skilled enough. I forsee that the cons outweigh the pros for me by putting my identity out in the open to people who i wouldn't know personally. I'd give it though if the person who interacts with me gets close enough and i could trust them.

Maybe we hide that for some reason. but if all people could be understanding and reasonable enough then was not reason to hide those things.

i am nobody, I have nothing to hide, even my information is public, nobody know who i am. hoho

Since myLot is a site viewed by thousands of people and there are discussions that are somehow personal, others may still want to have some sense of privacy by not disclosing some personal information and to protect their selves as well. Also, it adds mystery to the identity of the person you're interacting with. Though the last part, I'm not sure :)

the picture you see next to my username is me, as no one knows who i am anyway, so I just decided to take a picture of me with my rescue dog. I haven't given my nme though, as i am leery of doing that, but I given my age so users know who they are dealing with as far as age is concerned. I think it is up to each individual whether they want to post their real name and picture as their avatar. In a way, i can understand it as there is a lot of identity theft on the internet so it is okay to be cautious. Take care, and have a great day.

I too have nothing to hide. My picture is the real me and I have my real name on here. I guess cause I couldn't think of any other name to put on here. Now that I think about it, I have plenty of names I could of used. But oh well, it doesn't matter, I like that I have my real name on here. Plus I have my age and were I am from on my profile I don't mind at all.

Hello Professor Ji, Personally, I prefer anonymity. This is one of the best thing at myLot. I come here to discuss on all the topics and with all the people. I've grown up in a country where people categorize you by caste, by gender, by region etc and that's something I've always hated. That's why I always wanted a place where I won't have to mandatorily provide this kind of information and fortunately, here at myLot people don't care about my gender, country, caste etc..they just agree/disagree with my comments and share their own point of views. The perfect place I always imagined.

Perhaps people prefer anonymity because it frees them to write about quite personal matters without fear that someone might recognise a situation they describe. As for age, well we do tend to judge people and their opinions by their ages, for instance a young contributor's comment may not be valued because he or she has not yet acquired the wisdom of the years. An older person may be equally dismissed because they are 'past it'. It is quite nice to write something and know that it is taken on face value alone.

you therefore your real name is professor? really.. that's a good name. gramps my profile is hide also like other users. I dont want them to see my real name and my especially my picture.. because I cant say that there might be a time that if I do mistake here, maybe somebody disappoint to me.. Im only a kid so its better its not impossible that it happen..
