Hey guys, whenever i go to any bank or ATM, scary thoughts always develop in my mind. This is because i have heard how people r chased after they come out from an ATM or a bank by some unsocial elements and in the process either slain them or take away the money by cheap tricks.
This has happened many times in my city and hence every time i go to an ATM, i make sure that no body is looking at me and hence i always avoid drawing more money from the ATM. Even i had reduced going to banks like i used to go before due to this. It was said that there was a group who used to stand in front of an ATM and bank and used to keep track of who are withdrawing money so that they could chase that person and take away the money. many of my relatives have also been a victim of this situation. So whenever i go to any Bank or ATM, i feel very scared unless and until i have not reached home.
What are your thoughts about this guys? Do u feel scared like me in your city as well? What could b done to avoid such things? Please do share your thoughts!

I don't blame you if you are bothered by scary thoughts especially if money is involved. I guess we all have the same feeling as yours because most criminal minded people have upgraded their techniques in doing their ill deeds. All we can do is, be very careful and stay on guard always especially in withdrawing money at ATM machines.

Yes, if we can not avoid to withdraw from this ATM machines the best we could do is, have a friend with us most especially if it involves large sum of money. Or you can withdraw in banks where their machines are located.
And as kiki have said, it's safer too if you have a debit card so you don't have to carry cash if you want to buy something.

@stanley777-
Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Yes u are absolutely right the situation around us has forced us to carry such thoughts in our mind especially when v r carrying cash in our hand. As u said it is better to stay safe and keep our senses and mind open so that we can at least avoid such ill things from happening with us.

The best thing is to go with someone else if possible. Living with the fear of crime seems now to be a way of life in many countries. I much preferred to get money from the bank than to stand in the open to draw cash. These machines are not really there for the benefit of customers, it would be better to have more servers in the bank and more security on the doors.

This is a normal feeling of every person. I also fear while going to any ATM to withdraw money. I live in delhi and this thought makes me more cautious. to avoid all that events, i carry with me some sort of weapon that i can use in case of such bad incidents. I think you should also carry such thing with you so that you can feel more secured. hope that will help...

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Well i do not know about Delhi but in India the situation has become alarming as the looters are moving around and might break free and attack and then take away the amount at any time. As u have said it is better to carry some sort of portable weapons with us so that we can avert such incidents.

Actually, I feel the same way as you do. So to be able to get rid of being scared in going to ATM's, I always go to one secured ATM in the mall which happens to be inside a bank. It is always fully guarded. And I try not to draw out money at night.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Yes even i get scared every time i go to an ATM and as u said that unless and until the ATMs are not guarded properly the fear of getting looted will always persist in our mind. I wish if we had such security over here n that is the reason why i draw less amount both at night and in the day time.

Yes, I limit the need to use an ATM as low as possible. There are times I only use it once a month, and even that I always use the one in front of the bank inside a mall during day time when there are plenty of people and guards around. This is possible for me because most of my transactions can be done online or with non-cash.

Thanks a ton for sharing your valuable response. Yes u are absolutely right it is always safe to withdraw less amount n avoid carrying more amount in your hand especially while traveling. The ATMs that are heavily guarded are much safe for transaction purposes and i hope things change in the coming days.
