Not all of these reasons are acceptable. For one time, it is ok, but for a few times it seems to be unacceptable. If it is because of traffic jams, then you may leave for work earlier when the traffic is not so busy. Well, even if I live and work on campus, sometimes I am a little bit late, but if I am late for a few times, I will feel very sorry for it and will try not to be late again.

Well, due to medical reasons, and there no .longer being a bus that goes by where I work, I am always late 3 days a week. I am actually trying to get something going more with my own business to where this would never be an issue anymore. But we do have people who work here, including a supervisor who is always late and it does get old. You would think they would do something more to help get this situation taken care of, especially when it means someone else has to stay over as well.

If the reason was because of a family emergency, then it is accepted, provided that is is true. But running late because of traffic is lame. Traffic is always there. So one should leave the house early or at least wake up earlier.

Tardiness or being late is a really a no-no when you are working as an employee. The company/employer is helping her in providing the money she needs to buy food for her family, clothes and material things for herself, etc. She, in return, should be helping her company or employer by meeting their expectations and one of these is by reporting to work on time. The tasks can not forever wait for her. She must have been late for minutes or so but the time wasted could have given her more time to prepare for his work, to plan well for the rest of the day, and to do other things that could better his job. My thoughts.

Hi, you are right. Some people have the habit of being late. They are not time punctual. They don't know the importance of time. Your boss should give warning to the latecomers. There may be some reasons. but you start before time.

I admit, sometimes its my habit, not sometimes almost everyday this month. I want to change that bad habit of mine because I think I am not that so professional when it comes to working already. Punctuality is much needed and more observed in the company. It is one factor of the company to boost or to be successful. I feel guilty every time I was late even though my boss is not that so strict when it comes to late.

I must say that being late to work is a bad habit and it will have a negative effect on other employees. If just let it be, then everybody can have a reason to be late to work. This is not fair. I think the boss shall have a rule. Such as if an employee is late to work within 15 minutes, then he/she will be fined some money for it. It is alright if you hardly be late to work, however, it is not normal to be late all the time. If you wake up earlier, I am sure being late to work can be avoided.

There are people in this world who will never change their habit of being late. Just like there are people who will always be on time no matter what. If she claims its traffic problems she should be leaving extra early to make it on time. I like to be on time or early no matter the occasion. I use to work where I was suppose to start at 8am but I was usually there by 7am. I rather be early to start the day in peace and quiet then rushed and everyone in the office being loud.

I do have a colleague who has been also always late and even is always absent. She has a lot of excuses. But, her reasons are valid since she really is sick. That's here only reason. But, with your coworker, we just can't say if it is true right? If she is lying, then it's up to your boss to investigate and do some actions.

It is a bad habit but it is your boss who has to decide what to do, not you, and he can have chosen to be permissive it she is a good employee. Speaking of local habits, it would be rude in the area where I live now to start a meeting less than 15 mn after the scheduled time, so it is also a habit to be a few minutes late for meetings.

Well, I, in the field of work, I have not a lot of experience. However, in the few times in my life that I have worked, on the time, they had zero tolerance! I remember in particular in a company where they were given to me only 45 minutes in total delay of a month. I know that sometimes it is almost impossible to be on time, but that does not care that much to those who give you the job!

It's your boss' prerogative. I am sure that the company have its own rules and regulations when it comes to absenteeism and tardiness. He can have her sanctioned or even suspended for extreme instances. Or her tardiness deducted from her pay every time she comes in late.

it is one of the bad impression for the employee as being late to work, because it makes works delayed and workflow will be affected also if one employee in the company are always late. your boss should give her proper disciplinary action on not to happen it again.

Well to be honest habit of late when it's comes to work is not expected in anyway possible if you are doing business and getting paid. So yes there's no tolerance, they must be punished somehow so that they understand that those habit is bad. It's different if we had some troubles occasionally but to make it into a habit it's just feel so wrong.
