Some sales ladies don't want to leave me alone to shop

I rarely shop for clothes because usually, I make one. But I decided to shop and buy my friend a gift for her birthday. I noticed that the sales ladies now keep on following buyers. Don't get me wrong, but I don't like the way they follow and ask over and over again what size do I need even I have not picked a dress yet. I know it's their job to ensure that customers are taken care of but the way they are following and asking questions non stop is annoying like "Is it for you? What size? We still have different colors?" She asked me this over and over again and I said I'll ask when I have my pick on a very nice tone. But she keeps following me and asking me so I left the shop. Unfortunately, the sales ladies of other shops are doing the same.

i HATE that.the shops around here do that-not to help, but to make sure you're not stealing.that is one large reason i buy more things on line nowadays.if they're gonna hassle me,i'll take my business elsewhere.

At one time the over zealous sales persons were an irritation. Now it seems like whenever I shop it's just downright difficult to even find a store employee out on the shopping areas. So many places are cutting employment. I've gone online several times to complain about lack of help when I need it.

I understand what annoyance these kind of salesladies bring to customers. I also hate such kind of sales ladies. I always meet one like that and in most cases to avoid getting annoyed, I just leave the shop. Why can't these salesgirl know their limitation? I mean, the customers can always call them if they need assistance anyway so they have to just leave them alone.

I can't even think clearly with her beside me asking me questions all the time. I was thinking of my friend's body structure so that I know if it will fit her or not. I guess they are required to do that now since other sales ladies in other shops are doing that as well. Thanks for responding!

Hahaha! this is what I do not like about some shops i go to, because they won't leave you alone. I like to see and check out some dresses or clothes on my own, and If i need something I will call for them... so most of the time when i did not call for help and then they are bugging me, instead of trying out something, i would end up just leaving.

I can see it is quite annoying that the sales ladies followed you and kept selling to you like that. This is not a friendly selling method today. Usually customers are afraid of too friendly sales persons because it seems that you have to buy something due to their nice service. It will give you a force. So if the sales person asks me what I want, usually I will just reply I am looking and then I will leave. I don't want to stay there since I will feel unease there.

It's great to get a sales person that wants to help you.....to a point. I can't stand one that is overbearing or trying over sell something when you're just in to take a look around. I have left stores before because of it. With them being so aggressive have to wonder if they work on commission? I wouldn't know any other reason for them to be so pushy, but it's highly annoying.
I'm not a big shopper but when I do go it's out of the house, away from the kids and it's supposed to de-stress a person. I'm not finding it too relaxing when being badgered by them.
If I want someone to follow me around and annoy me...I'll go home to my kids

well, it is their jobs, some buyers like to be treated like that but some don't like.in my case, i don't like to be cared like that from the buyer. when i choose what i like, i will ask them about my size, color, price...so that when i get in a shop, if a seller asks me something, i just told them that i will look around and see first...then they don't follow me and ask me anymore...till i wanna ask them.

LOL! I understand your feeling , their irritating sometimes but when I am on the same situation I tried to control myself and tried to understand them also that they are just doing their jobs. Maybe they don't want also what they are doing but they have no choice if that is the instruction of their boss..
Maybe their bosses should consider also the feelings of the customer, that some of us do not want a " stalker" in the department store .. hahahahah LOL!

That's kinda like a part of their job description. It's one way of making sure the costumer is being accommodated but sometimes they tend to overdo it. If the same situation happens and you told her/him the same thing, be assertive and tell the sales personnel to stop following you. They should know that they're are being too accommodating to the point where the costumer is annoyed with them.

yeah, it's very annoying. I think that's how they trained by their supervisor but they didn't considered if customers would like it.

I also find some shops the ladies simply coming and asking what you want and not allowing to look at the things that I want to shop. Sometimes it is too irritating. I often just left the shop and tries not to go the shop again because they are too irritating and sometimes they would not allow to see the things also just simply giving long explanations of the products.

Oh, I hate this kind of behaviour of sales assistants. It's so annoying. I'm not saying they should not offer help, but if a pick out something to look at it, and I change my mind and put it back, I did put it back. They shouldn't treat every customer like people who have no power to decide what they want or who can be brainwashed, or people who are going to do as they tell to. I know, they have to make their sales, but they are gonna lose them, if they would continue being aggressive and continue seeing me stupid...

I know exactly how you feel. I also get annoyed when I am trying to decide what I like and then there will be someone behind me who keeps on mouthing this and that. I just can't decide. I usually tell them that I appreciate their help but I would like to look around by myself. And when I need some assistance I will definitely go to her. But then on the side of the sales ladies, maybe they are just trying so hard to make a sale. Sometimes though, it is effective. With their persistence, they can manage to convince a customer to buy something. It's not all bad, but as long as they gave you your much needed space, then that's fine.

Hi greenthumb018. Yeah you're right. I experienced that too, though most will say it's their job to assist their costumer but for me, it's really annoying some one is always following me while I am looking for a certain displays. For me, I can manage and I will ask assistance if I needed to, but following me while checking items, I'm not comfortable of that, but there are times I keep on going from one side to other side and repeat it, for him/her to stop following me. lol!

Ohhh I feel you haha. That is so annoying. That's why I kinda hate shopping bcoz of that. Its okay if they will follow you but to keep asking what do you want and need? its really something else.
