Hello Lotters,
One of the teachers from a local public elementary school caught some of her students stealing and cutting classes because they went to the river.
her punishment was to have these students scratch each other's ears. when they got home their ears are severely wounded. it's a form of abuse and the DEPED is going to do something about it.
though she apologizes given by the statement of the Principal, the parents might file a case and possibly have her licensed to teach remove or fired from office.

How did it become the teachers business to intervene with punishment for these kids. I'm sure she is in alot of trouble with authorities and parents of the children that she abused. I don't understand how she thought she could do this and get away with it. I hope they take her teacher's license away from her for good. Teachers like this we don't need in our schools. She should have just called the parents and explain what the problem was.

Hello lelin1123, I don't think she could have done it right away, but i think she lack the proper way of giving a strong message to the children that they shouldn't do that. lack of experience has probably prompted her to give that punishment. which i believe now that is not right.she apologized but an investigation needs to be made here.

My third grade teacher is the most cruel elementary teacher in existence. The teacher on that story is way too vanilla to my 3rd year teacher, she hit my head with a broomstick and it splits into two. I wish i reported her back then but that is during a time when our country lets teachers punish their students. Kudos to those students for reporting her because I chickened out as a kid when I have an abusive teacher as a kid,

Hello Captainalbert, they were students that were actually straightened after such punishment was given to them. but in most cases, some never actually recovered, though some are greatful, not sure of others. right now, we have bantay bata and other ngo's to support those stdents who are being abused.
How could have the guts then? no one would actually complained if they were in your situation.

I think during the 90's there is no law against teacher beating students. I really dont know why did my parents forced me to be in public school during elementary when my family is not even poor. They did enroll me in a private school at highschool though. But for some reason , they were a bunch of cheapskates when I was a kid, I experienced both Public and Private schools, both suck! Once I am a parent I will homeschool my kids.

Hi Letran Knight: I won't even consider this person a teacher. Is sick and it's sad that someone has that charge and treats children this way. It's sick and it's evil. Did she think she was teaching something good using violence? It's barbaric.

She should be fired, for sure. I don't know about pulling her license yet. I think she should have to take classes of how to deal with kids. I feel there is room for her to learn to do better.

Been hearing news on cruelty of some public school teachers and it's really breaking my heart. Teachers are second parents of children and should do tough love. They can discipline a child without hurting them.
That teacher should really be removed from the service and take her license off.

I am a qualified primary school teacher. In my home country us teachers tend to ignore the bad unless it is dangerous and then give praise to build the child's self esteem. Some schools have a golden time and typically it is on Friday afternoon. Time can be taken off if a child misbehaves. No teacher is allowed to physically punish a child in the current time in any of my home country. Things were totally different when years ago when I was at secondary school. The head master hit naughty boys with his cane.
This teacher caused the children to scratch each others ears and that is horrible. The children could have written something like I must not go to the river when I am meant to be at school. The teacher taught violence and that should not be on the curriculum. That teacher would get a criminal record in my home country if she taught here. She would never be allowed to teach again.

If the kids that were punished were your kids, although they did something wrong, how would you feel if your kid were the one who was punished , I will be so mad because no body has the right to lay their hahere is no patience tnds on children especially other people's kids. i send my children to school to learn not to be abused, will be my sentiment. although the kids were out of line and broke rules, there are other ways to deal with situations like these. This teacher should not be in this profession if there is no patience, a prerequisite for teaching elementary kids. knowing full well that not all are angels.spoilt brats and undisciplined children are part and parcel of the mix.

I think things like this should not be tolerated at all. I mean students go to school to learn not to get punished. Punishment is very bad since you are like showing them how to be violent. For me teachers like these should be jailed for a decade.

I'm an arts and crafts teacher at a non profit for under privileged children
They range from 5 to 18 years old
I am always hearing horror stories similar to this
IT INFURIATES ME!!!
as a mother myself I would make VERY sure that teacher would be sued and lose her job!
no teacher should be allowed to be responsible for a child with an abusive attitude!

Hi friend, sad to hear about this punishment, really this punishment is very cruel, the students activity is not right, banning the class is deserved for punishment, the teacher may tell about this to their parents and principal instead of giving this kind of severe punishment. Surely the teacher is deserved for punishment for the cruel activity

it is not up to the teacher to hand out a punishment it should have been turned over to the principle of the school and I think that the parents have the right to press charges and be sued

That is actually very sad. Teachers nowadays are stripped off the right to discipline students no matter how bad they behave. I am not saying that teachers have the right to hurt students, however when a student disrespect a teacher, no policy protects her or him from humiliation and even violation committed by students against her.

Any wrong doing of teachers should relieve them from their duties. They took this profession to be able to help mould the children's minds and act as role models. If they would become monsters, how can these kids improve themselves?

This is not the first time that a teacher was complained of punishing their students. But i am glad that because of the new innovations, the cellphone with camera and video, this could not be denied by the teacher , if ever she denies it.
This case was really abusive. The teacher deserves to be terminated and be also sued. Serves her right, Letran.

personally no matter what the students fault the teachers should not punish their students physically and emotionally.. because it will be forever remembered by the student who`v been punished and might affect him or her as a person.. there are ways to discipline a child in a manner that is more appropriate for the age of the student..

One of my students were very very very very naughty. hiding under the table and doing a lot of stuff... running out of the class. He is just in first grade. I had an activity, introducing yourself. When it was his turn... he could hardly say what I taught, the worst is, he shouted so loud in the microphone.. that everyone in class covered their ears. I got so pissed off... stood up from my chair.. really really upset... upset to the max
I approached him wanted to give him a punch and pinch and upper cut and pull his hair and choke him.
Instead.. I hugged him...

I experience and witnessed same cruelty from a Public school teacher. I remember my high school teacher always gives us brutal punishment everytime we're late in her class. She'll get 2 pcs of eggs and we have to eat the egg raw in front of the class
