Hello everyone!
I don't know if this post will be deleted soon but I don't really care. I just need some serious help from you guys...
Two days ago, I accepted my first ever writing job from a company. Since it's my first time, I really don't know what to do because they give an instruction that is unclear to me.
They just stated that the job they gave me is a SEO article...and they gave me a keyword that needs to appear on the body of the article.
What confuses me is that they did not give me any topic or something. I'm really not sure here.
I want to put the exact instruction given to me but I just can't.
Please help! Thank you very much!

I wonder how much research is required before writing? I can not do it unless of course I am extremely interested in the same subject as the person paying me. If I am don't tell them that or they might not pay me.
Let us know how you are doing with this devonavis, please.

I wish they have sent me some information about this company, but they didn't.

hi, son! I used to write for Australian companies. And they never really told me what should the topic be about. You just need to know what kind of company they are, what are the products and services that they offer and also add some "juice" into in by stating how is the company different from its competitors.
I hope that would help you. Good Luck!

Hi mom! The one who gave me the job is not the company itself. It's like an enterprise, that's what they're called, that collects writing jobs from various companies and they're the ones to distribute these writing jobs to writers(like me for example) so it's not only one company. I hope I did not confuse you with this.
If it's okay with you, I will message you the instruction given to me, hope you can help me.

I see.... It was different from the job that I had. Since I work for a Web Developer who happens to have a lot of clients. And with his service he also included social. media marketing. And that job was given to me. They just sent me the link to their website or a copy of their brochure, then it was all up to me how I'd make my articles interesting.
So in your case, you need to make a little research on the company assigned to you and then come up with something really exciting and interesting for people to check on their company.

I already gave up. I don't like article writing anymore haha! I'm aware that my English is not enough but I just hate it when these English grammar freaks start to talk about things I don't even understand!

hello there,
I was also in your shoe 2 years ago when I started my online writing career.
Now I don't write anymore as I found an offline teaching job.
Similar to what you said, the company I worked before gave me some keywords and its up to me to come up with an article.
For example, if the keyword includes car loan, loan, loan a car, credit etc. I will write something like "how to avail of a low car loan"
So this would be my topic and so the article revolves around this and it is for sure you can incorporate all those keywords given.
Hope this will help you and good luck to your new career online.
Please let me know how your writing is going.

Exactly, that is what I had been doing and it was accepted with no rejects.
You have to write however the keywords as is was written even if it looks grammatically wrong in what you know.
and follow exactly their instructions to you.
It is also safe to submit your articles 1 day before your deadline so that you are given time to fix in case their are some modifications.
what I mean in offline teaching is the actual classroom teaching

Oh Yes! I think this really helps. Thank you so much! They just gave me this keyword and I have no idea what to do with it! So nay maybe I can just write something that is related to that keyword they gave.
Anyway, offline teaching job? How is that? You might want to introduce it more...

The first job they gave me has already expired! Haha! I have to wait for the next one, need to give some excuse for this missed job. Haha Thank you for the tip.
So you are a teacher? Wow! I really look up to teachers, not because I also came from a family of teachers but I really appreciate what they are doing. Without teachers, there will be no great people!

If they gave you a title that is supposed to be the title of your article and they also gave you a keyword that needs to be within the body of your article, I really think that you have the answer to your question right there. The topic of the article that you are writing is going to be the title that you've been provided and it should be written from an angle that you are able to use the keyword that you have to use in a meaningful way within the body of your article.

If they don't give you a title, you must come up with it. I did this a lot when I did copywriting/ghosting.

It would be awesome if they're gonna provide both the title and the keyword/s. But most of the time they just give the keyword, that's all.
Anyway thank you for the response.

I used to do a lot if ghostwriting. I would be given keywords and I would have to make the topic fit their keywords. In other words the relevant keywords were your topic.
If you have questions you need to clarify with the person who gave you the assignment. If it is something you bid on like at eLance.com you can contact the client. It's your obligation to satisfy the client. Don't be afraid to contact him or her.

Sorry, don't think I can be much help to you other than to say I've experienced the same kind of dilemma. It is not always clear what the person wants. You are never sure about contacting them either with question in fear they might be bothered by that or other people are submitting as well as yourself so I’ve struggled through it. I have also gotten rejections.
I do not see any reason why your post here will be deleted. I think it will stay it has some very good information on online writing which can be helpful to others that wish for the same kind of information.
Certainly, I do not want to discourage your efforts by saying that this style of writing might not be for me because of things like this but that is for everyone to decide. Is that your real picture? Just asking you don’t need to answer that question. Good luck in your endeavors.

I like your writing very clear and understandable. I do and have done the same thing here as what you mentioned. Getting your thoughts together and putting them down is always a challenge for me and demands practice.
For me and please do not let me influence you one way or another in regards to your goals is that I enjoy writing and do have many interests and things I want to write about. However, as a job, specially where you are restricted by so many things I am not too excited about really. The money would need to be awfully good and even then not sure I would be able to keep it up.
The only exception might be an editor that would accept any articles I write and supply help to refine them.

Oh! Thank you! That means a lot to me as a beginner. I honestly do not like to write but I thought I can really earn from it so I decided to practice. I have a lot of interests but the problem is that I'm not very artistic in writing and a very limited vocabulary. I actually prefer talking than writing something down. Ahhh! How I wish I will meet a very good writer soon who can willingly mentor me! haha!

Yeah, and I'm very thankful that this post was not deleted. It's really difficult to make anything out of something you are never sure of. One thing more is that I'm not really good in writing and my English is not so good so I always have this fear of being rejected. But I have to give it a try, I really want to try online writing or even offline and I think this will be a training ground for me. If it's my own article then there would be no problem, but writing for other people? It's a different thing.

I don't think that your post will be deleted :) Your job like SEO more than Writing Online. I think that it's more easy for you when the company don't inquire exact topic. You can write anything which are attractive to get more viewers.

It would great if this post will not be deleted. You think it's better? Because I'm thinking of the opposite. But thank you for responding here anyway, I think I'm gonna research a little bit and write an article about it.

If you're going to write for a certain company specifically that involves online and internet marketing, it is obviously that you need to write for the company. You are also required to write the products and services that they offer, and of course, you need to make sure that the keyword is on the top of the search engine site.
You will also be the one to write any topic. Just make sure it has something to do with the company marketing and operations. Sound hard but if you master this, it's an easy thing to do.

I wish I have this "writing gift". Aside from my limited English vocabulary, I also have this difficulty in expressing myslef using other languages. It would be better if they gave me some detail, but no. They just gave me the keyword with something like a name of a place. Really shocks me but as you have said, once mastered it will be easy. Urgh!
