Yes, you read it right, Energy Gum. Wrigley's coming out with caffeinated gum that will be equivalent to a half a cup of coffee. Check it out at this link money.cnn.com/2013/03/08/news/companies/wrigley-caffeine-gum/index.html I guess the popularity of energy drinks is now going to be in gum. I use to drink energy drinks and most of them would give me energy. It gave me energy in the mornings to do the things I needed to get done. Wonder if energy gum will make a person chew their gum faster? lol I can just see some one chewing their gum really fast, not getting anything done, just chewing their gum faster!

You actually made me laugh out loud with this post. Not exactly rolling on the floor but out loud laughing. I had one energy drink in my lifetime and that was enough to not want any again. Surely won't be buying any of the gum. I'd definitely be chewing faster.

Wow this is something new for me. And I read your discussion topic many times to be sure that I wasn't read it wrong. Hmm I am sure that with newest technologies it would be possible to make energy gum, but I think that only what will work will be name of gum not it gum action. Did you know that energy drinks is bad to our health and heart?

I saw that. I think it's absolutely a horrible idea. I mean for money making, it's a great idea. People love their energy drinks. Energy gum would be cheaper. But for people's health? Such a bad idea. I saw the commercial for it and thought, oh boy. My dad commented how he saw teenagers in a gas station just gulping down those energy drinks. That's so not a good idea. Too many people drink them like they are water.

Not surprised a gum company would do this; however, I'd consider buying it for additional health benefits if Wrigley's put vitamins in it instead. There are cough drops with vitamin C, and in mints too. I've heard of lollipops that give you energy (unsure if it's got caffeine). Caffeine in gum just turns me off.

I just don't like all of this energy stuff coming out. People use to take speed and all kind of things like that to get a rush, and now they are putting it in drinks, food, and candy. Just doesn't seem good to me. People need to just start eating and sleeping right.

I like gums and I think I chew a lot of these when I was in highschool. But that eventually stopped when I started working. Anyway, I was never fond of energy drinks. It does give me the energy rush after an hour of consuming it but after a while it makes me feel so drained and so tired it's not even worth it. I guess I will just have to reply to good old coffee and power naps.

ha, ha, ha. Hope you are no longer depending on the energy drinks. I've read several articles that say that they are bad for any one, especially the teens and preteens.

Just asking. Has anyone made any research about this gum containing steroids? I notice all and sundry are into adding steroids in the products that they offer as energisers.

hi dear Jodee, I wonder how long it will take till its available here in good old Germany. Would be something I would get me as soon as its on the market to try. I hate energy drinks and coffee makes me run to the restroom too much on a workday so the caffeinated gum would be a great choice for me.

I think its a really good idea tbh. You don't have to stop anywhere to have a drink of coffee or an energy drink, you can just be walking somewhere and chew away. Not sure if I'll buy it myself since I don't really drink coffee or energy drinks, I never find the need for extra energy. But on the whole it seems like a neat idea.

I'm not a big fan of those energy drinks, and energy gum doesn't seem that bad of an idea, but it also sounds a bit silly. I do like the taste of caffeinated drinks, or anything with coffee, for that matter.

I still drink coffee. That works for me. But I can imagine someone doing back flips and somersaulting over buildings after chewing that gum. It would be easier then carrying about a cup of coffee with you or drinking energy drinks.

Wrigley is coming late to the party...Lidl stores here in the UK have had their own brand Guarana Energy Gum out for several years now -Branded as JET,I believe-....I dunno how much caffeine it's supposed to have in it,but gum's not really been my thing for a while now,so haven't had some in ages.. I probably won't be trying Wrigley's take on the product,as I haven't had any of theirs in a longer time

That's funny, chewing gum faster because it will give you energy to do that. That is a bit weird, why would you want to chew a gum that has caffeine in it? I'm not a big fan with gums so I think I won't even bother trying out one.

I dont like energy drink it taste weird in my mouth. I prefer to drink mineral water. If energy gum become famous just like energy drink there will be more chance for us to stepped on it if someone by mistake (or deliberately) throw it after chewing cos there will be more people chewing energy gum

Somehow I am interested with that energy gum. It's convenient and easy to chew. I am usually lack of sleep that's why I need energy for the day. If this will be created, then, that's a good news! But practically, if this will be expensive in the market, I will still be sticking with wheat bread to gain energy and enough vitamins and minerals for my body.
