I like the movies alot more than the books. My husband has all the books and I tried to read them, but I didn't find them very interesting.

I've read the dune series. And by that I refer to the 6 books that Frank Herbert wrote. the others were written by his son Brian Herbert. They were one of the best books I've ever read. Frank Herbert made a Science Fiction novel without even using a lot of science in his universe.
And for those who liked the movie so much, read the books and stop saying that the movie is better than the book. No movie ever got better then the book he war made after. So start reading if you still remember how.

Sorry but I wasn't referring to you. There were others that considered the movie better than the book, and they didn't even read it.

I have understood first at what books were you reffering too and after that i found out that you were saying about Dune. I haven't read the books but i think that a movie was diffused at tv which had the same subject as the book but i am not sure. Good luck!

I've read just the book which gave origin to the film Dune by Lynch, when I had already seen the movie.
It was a delusion for me to discover that many of the things I liked of this cult movie were a director's invention, and the wonderful character of the navigators was just superficially mentioned in the book: it was a nearly original creation by Carlo Rambaldi/David Lynch and what a creation!
In general I prefer the book to the film, but in this case I think they are two different and independent things.
I agree with you about the fact that, in order to read a book by Frank Herbert someone needs a lot of time and quiet.
I think that a book can be a good work even if it is not so long...
When I was a child I've read the book which originated the movie: "Star Trek the motion picture" (the first of the films deriving from Star Trek the original series), and it was a 200 pages book, but it was even better than the film.
bye bye.
