My daughters love Dora the explorer and the wonder pets, dora teaches them alot, my 3 year old has picked up the spanish words and likes to count and things with dora, my 18 month old loves to dance and sing to the music, the wonder pets teaches them about sharing and helping others, & my 3 year old also loves Max & Ruby, i guess it kinda teaches them about how to help their sibling but i have to ask a question...Where the hell are max and rubys parents and why does the grandma just let 2 little kids live all alone???lol

Even the cartoons we don't necessarily perceive as educational are teaching them something. They help improve their vocabulary, colors, numbers, and they often have some sort of lesson in the story line.
This is assuming they are cartoons made especially for young kids. The Simpsons are another story! lol

Um are the doodle bops those yellow round bodied cartoons? And if you mean the Wiggles I like them. I think they have some really good valuable stuff. Except Captian Feathersword. Blah. Not sure who Charlie and Lola are, maybe if you could clarify for me?

My daughter loves Dora as well, and Max and Ruby. My daughter also really loves Sesame Street which is good because as we all know, that is a very good and effective educational show. I loved it too when I was her age. I also have the Little Einstein DVDs and both of my kids love it.

My 4 year old loves Max & Ruby but like you, I'm not sure there is an educational value in it. It is a cute cartoon that seems to keep her attention. I suppose not everthing has to be educational though, so I suppose she likes it so much just simply because it's entertaining!

The problem Im worried about is there are too many kids shows that dont seem to have educational value, I was hoping people could comment about shows their kids like and if they see educational value in them that I dont recognize. Id like to know if Im missing something or just thick

Yup I certainly can see value with Dora and Diego and actually wish my daughter had more interest in them like she had before. Would love her to want to continue learning Spanish. Thinkin like a parent here. Id call that the most educational cartoon on TV today. Unless someone else can suggest a better one.

My daughter also loves Max and Ruby to the point i bought the dvd i guess mostly just regular episodes and i have watched most i guess it kind of teaches manners but not really max does whatever he wants in one episode louise has to ask her mothers permission to do somthing with the bunny scouts and ruby only had to ask bunnyscout leader if max could go.....no parents? grandma lives 2 doors down though i dont know little bear teaches teamwork and sharing it says and max and ruby only teaches inter and intra personal relationships
