No food, by itself, causes diabetes. Diabetes is caused either by the body's inability to manufacture enough insulin OR when there is enough insulin available but the body's ability to use it effectively is reduced.
There are two main types of diabetes.
Type 1 is when the body cannot manufacture enough (or any) insulin. This is usually a disease diagnosed in childhood, teenage years or early adulthood. The exact causes are not known but it is possible that a virus infection of the pancreas may be one cause. Type 1 diabetes sufferers will need to take insulin (normally by injection) for the rest of their lives.
Type 2 diabetes normally occurs in later life (after the age of 45). It may be due to gradually decreasing insulin production but may also be due to the body cells developing insulin resistance. A very common misconception is that sugar causes diabetes. Except for the fact that sugar is a carbohydrate, this is not true.
The most common risk factors for Type 2 diabetes are:
1) a diet high in calories and especially the frequent consumption of total processed meat especially bacon and hot dogs.
2) being overweight,
3) an inactive lifestyle
In addition, there seems to be some genetic and racial predisposition to the disease. People with a close relative with Type 2 are slightly more at risk and people of Middle Eastern, African, or South Asian descent also have a higher risk of developing the disease.
To minimise the risk, therefore, it would be sensible to take plenty of exercise (be active), eat only enough calories for your daily needs (both of which should ensure that you are of a healthy weight) and to avoid processed foods in general, but especially processed or preserved meat like bacon and hotdogs.

No one food causes diabetes it is one of two things your genetics and or the over use of carbohydrates, fructose, lactose and cellulose so basically don't eat a lot of carbs, sugars and processed foods where the complex carbs are broken down.

It's not so much a matter of cutting it out because our bodies do need sugars and carbs but more of a balancing act. Each person is different and metabolizes at different rates. I have had to diet control gestational diabetes (caused by pregnancy and goes away once child is born). By keeping track I was able to see that I burn off more during the hours of 12pm-5pm then any other time of day meaning I could eat a little more carbs at the time. I also saw that I needed a high protein snack before bed time. Now my mother who has had full blown pancreas doesn't work at all diabetes since she was a child (genetic) it doesn't matter her body doesn't make any insulin so she needs shots no matter what she eats.

So that means that certain types of food accelerate the problem and that those persons suffering form Diabetes should be aware of it and that they should have a strict diet and change thier ways of lives.

white flour - aka maida, aka self raising flour. Best avoided. Use whole wheat and brown wheat wherever possible. And of course lots of fruits and veggies. All of these foods u have listed are unfortunately made from the same white flour, so go easy on them and indulge in one a week if you seriously want to keep diabetes off. Is it heriditary? That predisposes you kind of :(

Why not try to drink banaba tea? I heard it is good for the liver and reduces the risk of having diabetes. I haven't tried it yet but the benefits appear to be too good to ignore. It helps reduce weight as well.

Foods do not cause diabetes!!! Diabetes is caused when the pancreas no longer is able to produce insulin to break down the sugars in foods during digestion. Once a person has become diabetic there are foods to avoid eating in quantities. Those high in sugar or carbohydrates, which break down into sugars.

I was going to answer, but discovered that the post had already been answered as I would have. You are right, steelers, foods do not cause diabetes. It is a common misunderstanding though and many people say "don`t eat this or that because you will get diabetes". Unfortunatly, noone takes the time to explain waht you have just said. Welcome to mylot!
