i know. i know. it's taboo, but it's true. not all children are beautiful. just like there are some adults that are not attract. we just shy away from admitting it, when it comes to a child. take for example, one of my nephews. i hate to say it and would never say it anywhere outloud, but mylot. he is a funny looking kid. he really looks as odd as him mother (my sister in law). we really don't even know if that is our nephew, because he doesn't look ANYTHING like my brother. they keep sending me pictures of him on facebook. i don't know how to reply other than like. i feel like they want to me to comment and say how cute he is, but that's is not the truth. i guess if it were in person, i would have to do what everyone else does and just lie and say that he is cute. boy! is that the funniest looking kid i ever saw. he has a face only a mom could love. lol. what do you do when confronted with having to comment on an ugly baby?

During my working life I helped deliver or did deliver many, many babies. Probably well over two hundred. In all of that time, I saw only one that I thought was pretty. Most all babies are ugly in my opinion. It takes a few months for them to develop into their 'cuteness'.

this baby is almost 2 years old and still hasn't developed into any sort of cuteness.

Here I sure it was only me who thinks this way. Especially when they're first born, they all look like some freakish aliens.

This woman asked me before about her baby "Isn't he cute?" No, that child was so horrendous that he could melt your balls, but I was like ".....um.. sure!" and hurried off.

When I was on my childcare course I had to look after a four week old baby boy as part of my training, I would never say he was ugly, because I know what it's like to be called ugly, but I just didn't want to be around him, I would rather play football with the 7 year old that was more fun than looking after a helpless baby. To me babies are just crying, pooing and vomiting machines and that is what makes babies ugly to me, not the way they look but what they do!

Lol i could totally relate. I do have friends whose baby is not the cutest but of course you could not say it out loud as they will get upset! I just comment how healthy looking the kid is..that is quite a safe answer.

In my opinion, all babies are cute, even if they are 'funny looking'. Some just look cuter than others. Your perception is not truth, however. Your perception is just that, 'your own perception'. Opinion is just that -opinion. That baby may be very cute to others. If I were you, I would refrain from saying the baby is ugly. It's just rude.

Oh, MoonGypsy! You had me laughing so hard with your post. I am not making fun of those children whom pople might think to be not so cute. But by the way you posted your discussion, as if I am really hearing it as well seeing the reaction of a person telling about it. Too bad I do not know how you look.
But, yes, not being mean , but there are kids who are not as cute as others. But since they are kids, I have a heart for them.

i do know what you mean that not all babies are cute but i have to say that as they grow and develop a personality, that is what makes anyone beautiful or cute and not the physical attributes. And that goes for adults too. i can not tell you how many people that on first sight, i have thought...wow what a handsome man or beautiful woman ...then you get to know them and the very sight of them makes you want to vomit. This works in reverse as well. i think we've had this discussion before and you know how i feel about it. i feel like you are judging that poor little kid based on the fact that you hate his mother. i hope someday that you value the relationship that you have with your brother enough to support him in his choice here before you don't have a relationship with your brother either. i know you feel very strongly about this so i won't say anymore.

Children don't always look like there parents because of there DNA. Two people treating one person and the dominate genes normally win. My kids look nothing like me but they look a lot like there dad. I do agree there are some babies that are not cute but I would never say it to the parents and especially out loud to other people about that baby.

we absolutely hate her and would hate it very much if that baby truly turned out to be his. he is certainly accepting it as his.
