When I was having a behavioral assessment, the facilitator asked me the question above. Without a doubt, I answered confidently: Ouch! Surprisingly, she looked at me with disbelief...hahaha. What should I say, definitely to apologize right after saying the ouch! How about you?

They were probably trying to check if you had common sense and good manners. Believe or not some people would not even apologize.

You are so right, there are very many people that are pretty crummy with their attitudes while out in public.

I agree on that.

Mirita, I agree with you. There are some elements who would bump into you, give you a nasty stare, as if you committed a crime by being in their path, and then they walk off grumbling!

hahaa depends on the situation... if I was the one looking and still he bumped me.. because he is not looking... I don't apologize and i give him the "look" (if he is cute... with batting eyelashes and pouty lips and pearly white teeth) if he is not cute .... with one brow higher reaching my forehead, pout and and sharp teeth.

Ouch it seems that you gave your facilitator the wrong answer! I hope you didn't fail just because of that, if I bumped someone and it was genuinely my fault I would apologize, it's up to the person I bumped into to accept my apology graciously.

Excuse me or I'm sorry is usually the mannerly thing to say. And Ouch! If I hit something. Why would you say 'Ouch!'?

As well you should but if you are the one who bumped them then you should say 'excuse me' or 'I'm sorry!'.

If it is my carelessness to bump on someone, I would surely feel embarrass and spontaneously say "I am sorry" and give the person a smile.

i generally say, excuse me. sometimes i feel silly because theres times its not my fault and its a natural thing to me to say excuse me, im sorry even if its not my fault

I do think that people have different reactions, if they bump someone. I do sometimes being so silly, depending on the mood.

Apologize of course. Someone mentioned people being rude and not doing this. That come from both sides. Only twice have I ever bumped someone, said I'm sorry and they accepted. Most times they will scream at me and try to start a fight. Then I want to throw a punch in to that bump.

I agree, it depends on how they will accept the apology. If they reacted so rude, I will respond the same thing.

Of course the usual line is, "Sorry." Is there a better line than that? I'd like to hear it.

If i bumped someone i will first smile and say sorry ! Only that and i think that's enough and that says it all. Sincerity to say sorry can be seen in our eyes and gestures.

I don't think I'd smile at first. I'd make a concerned face and say, "I'm sorry! Hope you're not hurt." Then if the person responds positively, I'll put on a smile.

Haha! You probably frightened her. haha! When I bump with someone I don't know, I apologize and then smile. But sometimes if I am having a bad time and bumped with someone, I tend to be aggressive and rude.! Haha

When I bumped with someone and it is my fault of course, I will apologize for being clumsy. I was thought to be like that whenever I made any mistake or clumsiness.

The roommate was sitting stock still in a riding cart when this woman, talking on her cell phone, ran her cart into her. She said: "Watch out where you are going!" The roomie replied: "I was sitting still, you ran into me." The woman walked off in a huff.

I'm sorry is the first thing that comes to mind for me. If it's just a little bump that is all that is needed, but if there is possibility of harm to them I would certianly extend the conversation according to the hurt.

I think she should have said she was sorry, but some people just don't care anymore and think they have the right of way and push others around. I would say sorry, so I would expect it from anyone bumping into me.

I would casually say, sorry" and go on my way. I would not make a big deal out of it unless I really felt I had hurt this person. In this case, I would go up to this person and ask the if they are okay. If I hurt this person, it would depend how badly they were hurt. If I hurt them badly, I would call emergency.
