Hi all! There are many of us who are deprived of sleep and always try to catch up with their sleep. Sleep deprived people could be found daydreaming on the toilet, in the bath, at the cinema and sometimes dreadfully behind the wheels. Some sleep deprived persons doze off at unlikely places e.g. in a coal mine, staircase, examination hall, while waiting in a bank for their turn or while matching a football/hockey match etc. Have you ever fallen asleep at an unusual place. If yes, what what was your reaction when you got up? I sometime fell asleep when getting my hair cut and/or getting oily head massage ...... Lol! Would like you to share your experience. Thanks in advance.

Hi dpk, Happy holi/holidays!! We attened a housewarming function of a close relative (before my marriage) and in that full fledged house, during the puja, i found myself sleeping very comfortably in a store room with so many unpacked packages scattered here and there. I remember that i was reading an intersting newspaper item and due to the loud voices of ladies and the priest chanting all mantras, i shifted myself to the store room. But i didn't know how i slept in that store room without even a fan. LOL. Later when most of the guests left the place, my aunty was looking for me as i didn't had my lunch but she couldn't find where i was. Then somebody happen to come to the store room for unpacking a carton and that person started laughing seeing me sleeping like i'm very very tired, sweating like anything.

Hi Viju! Thanks for your wishes. Your experience of sleeping in a store room, without you getting to know/realize about it sounds very interesting. I think you would have been very tired and due to various activities during the special occasion and presence of so many relatives you would not have realized that you were indeed tired and were short of sleep. Therefore, when your body was in a resting position, it automatically went into sleep mode. Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience.

hi dpk oh I had gone back to junior college in my mid thirties and was taking movies as literature as one of my English classes,. The film our teacher showed us was for some reason incredibly boring and all of a sudden a classmate who sat behind me touched my elbow and whispered "Mrs Hatley you are snoring wake up please." Oh my I was so embarrassed so I sure did study the rest of the movie as I knew it would be on a test soon.In spite of my falling asleep I did manage to get an A in that class.

Hi Hatley! It is interesting to hear about your experience that you slept in the movie theater, that too when the movie was part of your subject. It is appreciable that despite missing the movie, you could secure A Grade. Thanks for joining.

I fall asleep on a whim, so it can be almost anywhree. I did fall alseep when I was in church, and I guess I was snoring as my son poked me and told me I had fallen asleep. Wow, that was embarrassing, especially when the pastor was preaching .

Hello dpk, On one part of my job before I had to get up really early in the morning and had to catch the train to Birmingham. I was really tired and kept falling asleep on the way there because I was not used to being up so early. But then I got the hang of it and managed to avoid dozing off as there were many Stations between mine and Queen Street Station. I once went with a Sister in Law to a Specialist the treatment she was having made her very sleepy and she fell asleep in the Hospital and started snoring her head off lol and I could not wake her up either. The Specialist only laughed good job he did.xxx

Hi Love! So you have an experience ot sleeping the train while travelling early in the morning. Hope nothing untoward happened, when you used to sleep. The second instance about your relative is all the more interesting that she fell asleep while undergoing examination/treatment. What kind of treatment she was taking by the way? (lol)

Hi love! OH I see, your sister in law was suffering from meningitis and she was given medicines for induced sleep. I think in that case she would have automatically gone into sleep more. In your own case - a pest keep bothering you, when you used to travel through train. You must have very beautiful and attractive so as to draw his attention towards you.. It is good to hear that finally you got rid of him. (It is interesting to know that even at the age of 16, you know what that man's intentions were).

She has an injury caused by meningitis in the brain and it causes her to have uncontrollable fits. The medication is to control the fits and other problems caused by this malady. Hence it makes her sleepy sometimes she cannot control the nodding off to sleep so she sleeps anywhere a lot of times. No nothing happened to me while I was falling asleep thank you but I did have a "pest" bothering me a bit when I was trying to learn all that I had to learn as I was on a two weeks training and he was a married man on top. Luckily I was protected by two other men there who told him to "buzz off" lol and in the end so he did. Was lucky he was not on the same train as me either. I was sixteen then but I knew what was what and I let him know it too.xxx

Erm, a couple of times on my keyboard. Of course my head did not land on the keyboard but I just closed my eyes for a little while. I would call it a very, very short nap.

One time I dozed off for several minutes when I was working on the computer at work. The worse part was that my team leader was sitting in the cubicle right in front of me and I think he actually noticed. I thought that was pretty embarrassing. So glad those days are over, hehe.

How about falling asleep while waiting for your train at the platform! Ah, but needless to say, it is Indian Railways which in those days was always late and never on time. I still had 4 hours before the train arrived (after being delayed) and as it was quite late in the night, I did not feel comfortable to re-check-in at the hotel just for a few hours. But then, at the end, when the train arrived we ahd already been waiting for it for over 6 hours... I later felt, I should have checked back in at the hotel. I guess that is not an unusual place to fall asleep specially in case you are travelling via trains in India.

Hi thesids! I am trying to understand from your response whether you actually fell asleep while waiting for the train or you forced yourself to keep awake all night while waiting at the platform. I feel either way it would have been inconvenient and troublesome because sleeping on a platform with your lugguage while waiting for a train could turn out to be a risky proposition. Thanks for sharing.

We reached the p[latform on 12:00 am as the train was expected to arrive at 12:30 am. Then there at 12:20 they announced the train is running late and would arrive at 4:00 am. So I fell asleep and others were awake. and then when they woke me up it was nearing 6:00 am and the train had not arrived until then. As we were 4 together, I could take the liberty to fall asleep otherwise, I would never have dared to think of sleep at the Indian Platforms.

@thesids 4 hours is a long time to wait. If I had to wait that long, I would go somewhere in the mean time ... maybe go for coffee or the shopping mall or perhaps go home and come back later. But seems your time was not wasted cause you had enjoyed a very good sleep. Did you snore?

During 4 years, I took a train early in the morning to go to work at 120 km of my home. The travel was direct with no halt to any other railway station ; I was sleeping in the train and I was awakened by the brakes when I was arriving. However it happened twice that I continued to sleep and the next stop was 100 km further.

@Marcyaz I have been late to work only 2 times in 4 years. I was awaking at 4h30 am to take this train at 5h30 am and I was not back at home before 8 pm, so it was not easy to sleep 8 hours without sleeping in the train. I was young, and I would not do this again today.

It would have been embarrassing for you to fall asleep in the examination hall. Thanks God you slept only for 10 minutes, had you slept more the result of the exam might have been different. Beauty parlor is one of the best places to sleep, specially when you are getting your facial done. While getting your facial done, you fall asleep because you need to close your eyes and when we close our eyes and we are tired, we tend to sleep. Sometimes when I get my hair cut and facial done at barber's shop, I also sleep for sometime.

If a bus is an unusual place to fall asleep, I am guilty. Usually I am very careful and do not fall asleep anywhere...especially when travelling long distance or with luggage or kids alone. When with my husband, I fall asleep whenever I want to. But I fell asleep on a bus trip once when I was travelling alone with my older son. I had to do report cards the night before and had not slept for a bit. I couldn't help myself and fell asleep. Woke up suddenly and didn't know where I was. But got my bearings soon enough. Fortunately nothing untoward happened in the meantime.

I fall sleep in a movie theater once. My friends and her sisters wanted to watch a movie and they asked me if I wanted to join them. I was tired, but I still thought that a movie sounded like a nice idea so we went to the movie theater. The movie was really funny, but I wasn't able to stay awake and I fell aleep during the movie. I have also fallen asleep in the bathroom once. I visited a cafe with a friend and I was very tired and I fell asleep in the bathroom. There was only one bathroom at the cafe and I woke up when a group of girls started banging on the door

Hi Per! It is interesting to hear that you fell asleep in a theatre while watching a movie. Movie theatre is a good place to doze off, as lights remain off and there is a kind of silence as far as people are concerned, only sound of movie could be heard. Sleeping in a toilet that too when there was only one toilet could be tricky, as people who are waiting outside will start shouting .... Lol! Thanks for sharing.

I have always fallen asleep in a bed - well, of course, as a baby, I might have fallen asleep almost everywhere, but for as long as I can remember, I can only sleep in a bed, no matter how tired I am. I couldn't even sleep on a bus or on a plane or on a train or in a school class like so many of my classmates and people I know.
