Am I being pricey or smart? I don't want to be sweet but dumb!

I posted this under make more money and it seems to be the wrong place. Re-posting so I can get more advice, I so need some opinions please! Ok, so I take these classes that teach specialty topics like handwriting and phonetics and stuff. I am very dedicated and hard working, and have been very successful at accomplishing results in every case. Now when I started out about a year ago, I was very flexible and would even sit 1 on 1 and teach at no extra fee and basically I ended up working 7 days a week and many batches had as low as 1-3 students so I was working on back to back classes and commuting and walking and basically having a raw deal. You can imagine I was not earning much because of the numbers per batch, but I wanted to see if I could handle this line of work and also it was to prove to people what my potential was. Now I am gearing up for another year but this time I am insisting that I need a particular batch size and if anyone wants a small group or individual attention, they will have to pay extra. Am I shooting myself in the foot and will this actually slow down what was moving on or is it the wise thing to do as I really need to see more money come in for the kind of quality and effort I offer. Please give me your sincere and honest opinions, mylotters!

Do what is best for you. Get some confidence!! You are your own boss now, you make the rules. People will walk all over you if you let them.

Yay. Yes, that makes me feel sure of what I am doing. Guess it was a low spell and certain things just started not working out just as I hiked my fee, so I got a bit concerned, it has tided over now and I am sure I am on the right track. In the meantime, thanks for the great advice, both of you!

you're just doing what is right. you will be able to pay more attention to each student if you handle a smaller class so this means more quality and a higher pay. as much as we want to be altruistic, we cannot cannot disregard our need for money too. we work because we need it for ourselves and our family. since this isn't your first year, your old students will be able to attest to your expertise on this field and you will have more enrolees. if you don't do this, some people might even think that you're not really that capable because you settle for less, if you know what i mean. we sometimes have this notion that cheap goods do not have quality.

Yay. You an I think so alike! I am glad at least one person thinks just like me, these are exactly my points of justification. So I will stick with my decision and let's see how it goes.
