I hate it when my insomnia attacks. I can stay awake even for more than 24 hours. And worse, I look like a creepy zombie. I've almost done every possible solution but still, insomnia is there. Last option would be sleeping pills but I don't want to start taking one. Any insights on how to solve or treat insomnia as well as comments about experiences using sleeping pills?

When I was working during the night I found it hard to sleep during the day. Until the time that I can sleep in a normal way during evening. For me based on my experience, I felt relax and drink milk few minutes before sleep. Vitamins can also a great help

I am also having problem with insomnia.
Working on graveyard shift for many years gives me hard time to sleep at night.
It seems my system got used to sleep on the day and stay awake at night.
Some times I am too sleepy at night- but my mind keep awake and that gives me a headache

I have insomnia problems from time to time. It usually has to do with something on my mind and I can't shut it off. I know how horrific this can be especially if you have to get up early to go to work. What I have been doing for a long time now is I will read part of a book that I am reading at that time. Then when I'm getting sleepy I will say my prays. I end up falling asleep sometimes in the middle of my prays that is how good it works for me. You seemed to have tried so many things maybe this one will help you.

I'm not really a book worm, I mean I read at times but it's not really a hobby for me. But, I'll try that at times. Or may be I will watch a show or movie. I just wish the television would be back in my room so that I could watch just before sleeping.

Try to do some type of exercise before you go to sleep at night to make yourself sleepy.

Well I try and concentrate on sleeping but I was also told that trying hard to fall asleep is not also nice. So intead, someone advised me to get up from my bed and do something that will tire me then I would go back to bed and fall asleep easily. Yes, relaxing music can help.

I also hate insomnia because I was there before. About how the treatment has done I don't remember but I didn't took any pills. Only I did was to make myself busy at day try to calm myelf and learn to relaxed. Really annoying but we can't do nothing. Pills is not good advice on the first hand. As I observed to myself why I had insomnia was my stressed. Deep thinking especially if I had unsolved problems. And I am also sad today because I begin to stress again.. :(

Hmmm.. It really feels awful having insomnia because even after we rested we still feel tired. I try to tire myself during the day so that I could sleep easily which sometimes works but is worse when I am unable to sleep then I become more tired. Well, we are both stressed, so let us try and practice more relaxing techniques. Don't be sad. Be positive, life is still wonderful.

I love drinking milk before and may be I should start again. Reading a book for me does not help much because I tend to het excited about the next chapters especially if the story is going nice which leads me to sleeping at a later time.
Since you are pregnant, I guess it would be nice to take warm shower before going to bed to help in relaxing especially your muscles strained because of the effort to carru your baby. Moreover, try and ask your hubby for a massage. Massage for me is a great solution but I don't always have someone to do it for me.

I think it is better to go to a doctor if you have sleeping problems. Not sleeping for more than 24 hours is not good. My friends and family thought I also had insomnia before. But then I just started work late and went home so late so of course I usually slept at 3 or 4 am. Normally, most start at 8 in the morning, mine was the opposite. I started my day at 2 in the afternoon and would be home around 11:00 in the evening. A lot of my friends and acquaintances thought I was suffering from insomnia coz my schedule when I am on a break would remain the same. I would feel so tired if i don't follow it and still end up sleeping so late.
Never take the pill without going the doctor first if I were you.

Thanks for your suggestion doroffee. Well, sometimes, even though I don't have anything in mind I still find it difficult to sleep. Yes, I have tried listening to music before going to bed and yes it does help most but not all of the time. I will try and note on visiting a sleep expert or professional.

yes insomnia is a disease that sucks, I also have the disease.
when I had to go to school, I could only sleep for 1 ½ hours, it's very annoying, when my eyes like school less blind eye: D
every time you try jogging during evening or early morning, and avoid napping.
sleeping pills can make you sleep but over time your stomach is not too strong to digest sleeping pills.

Well, I am not really a sporty person but I do play volleyball and go for a swim sometimes. The only problem is I don't always hve someone to olay with in volleyball. On the other hand, going to pools here is qute expensive if I would want to do it most times of the week. I just wish I have my own private pool. Thanks for the suggestion!

I am not sure as I mostly sleep well at night. Maybe green tea or a hot chocolate or a hot soak in the bath. I tend to get sleep with all either of these things.

I do drink hot milk or sometimes hot choco, and also enjoy a warm bath before going to bed because it is relaxing. As for green tea, it did not really work for me, maybe because of the caffeine in it that tends to wake me up. To add to that, I have frequent bathroom visits since teas are known as having a diuretic effect.
