3 cats at home, all females, the oldest one is pregnant again, third time, 1st batch i managed to find homes for the kittens among my friends, 2nd batch i had to take the kittens to a shelter, running out of friends who liked cats.now i think in a few days another litter is on the way and when they are weaned off from their mother's milk i am going to have to do something, i live in an apartment and 3 cats is already a lot,now i am worried about the other 2, 2nd one just came of age and will be in heat and i am seriously thinking about having them neutered yet i have always been an advocate of allowing natural progression so have a slight dilemma within me, should i or should i not.?

They should be neutered, not only are there enough kittens and cats in shelters it is suppose to prolong their life and unneutered cats are suppose to be at risk of breat cancer and other cancers. I am actually kicking myself now. I was very selfish with my cat Storm. I was always putting off taking her to get neutred because I couldn't stand to not have her with me for those 3 days. Well now she has lumps or cysts around her niples that even the vet is unsure of what they are. I finally had her fixed before Christmas and she had a cyst the size of a walnut on her ovary. Now the lumps around her niple is bigger. They took pictures today to send to a specialist to lok at and they drained 20cc of brownish fluid from the site. So I am siting her waiting and hoping it will not be bad news. I want my girl to be with me forever she is very special. The only thing I hang onto is the fact that it doesn't seem to cause her pain. She doesn't mind it someone touches iy. So i say yea. Get her fixed or stop leting them outside eithr one.

after giving it some thought , it may be kinder to have them fixed, i saw the middle one go through her 1st time heat just 2 weeks ago,and she was meowing non stop writhing or wriggling on the floor with a confused manner not sure what is going on, coz she has never been out of the apartment since coming as a kitten and never met male cats before.with 2 female companions..and lasted close to a week, poor thing

Cats will go through this no matter what. They don't have to be in contact with male. And every cat will act different in heat

If you are an "advocate of allowing natural progression", than prepare for a steady progression of kittens. DITTO to what has already been recommended -- an unequivocal YES, get them neutered!

Ya well, suppose you are right! it is either that or get myself a stud of a male cat and start a cat breeding business..options are really limited , actually there is just one or the other, to fix or not to fix..spaying may prove to be the smarter move in the long run i think. SO guess i will go that route..

Yes, have them neutered now. You should have done that a long time ago or you will end up with hundreds of cats in the house. Don't even think about it-----go to the nearest city vet and have them neutered/spayed right now.

I understand that making the decision whether to allow them to be born or not is troubling you. I believe if you don't want the babies to be neutered, you can always bring the new born babies to pet store. They should be able to find new owners for you. Since people are going to get pets from pet store. And the baby kittens also grows up pretty fast. I believe the pet store owner will be glad to take them for you.

There really is very little choice for you or the cats if you want them to live long healthy lives. Continual pregnancies take a toll on the mother and this one has already had three pregnancies, she deserves some relief. I have two neutered female cats, the operation was without complications and apart from not being in season they enjoy normal lives. Natural progression is going to mean unwanted kittens throughout the years. The vet is your best answer.

Cats are pregnant or feeding all their livez. I've 2 females and one tom, they're all neutered. The women are free and playful, the tom doesn't wander in search of a mate. Neuter they'll be happier.

i think you should go ahead and do it. if she didn't have any at all yet, then i would say no. she already had two batches. it's time.

yes..get them all spayed and neutered. It is unfair to keep allowing them to procreate when you do not have the desire or means to take care of them properly. If you choose not to do this then you should at least keep them inside to stop it from continuing. You said they are all females so clearly you are allowing them out and about for this to happen. It puzzles me why there is a leash law for dogs and yet cats are free to just roam anywhere unattended and the owners are not accountable.

yes, you should have her neutered. There are literally hundreds of thousands of cats killed each year because the pet population is too high. Responsible pet owner spay/neuter their pets. Neutering the cat will also make her happier and healthier.

I sure would. As once they get going they never stop. You may have 50-75 cats. Im kidding of course.
