My husband is purly a eat it with seasoning it was cooked with and maybe some sort of steak sauce. He tells me I ruin it by dipping steak in ketchup and that's for hamburgers not steak. Granted it's been a long time since I've had steak as anything beef is up there in price the past few years.
The last time you had steak did you eat it plain? add seasoning? or a condiment to dip it in?

I'm like you..I think it takes away from the original taste of the steak!

My dad always said it was a crime to ruin a good piece of meat with sauces or condiments and he was right--way back when we had decent steak! I remember eating steak as a child, teen, and young adult, how tasty and tender it was. Beef was ever so slightly sweet and very tender.
Now I can understand why people put crap on their steaks because the beef is just that--crap. No matter what the cut or where it comes from, beef has become bland and tough. I think it's all the growth hormones, additives, the unnatural and restricted lives the cattle are forced to live, and the cheap grain they are fed that makes the meat so unpalatable.
So go ahead with your ketchup--the beef that's made available to us now is more akin to cardboard than real meat. You have to do something to make it bearable.

I think you are quite right! Over the years with the introduction of growth hormones, GMO feed, and unnatural living conditions (pens instead of roaming fields) has made quite a difference in the quality of meats available on the market place. Sadly quality and nutritional values have gone down substantially and in it's place quantity and growth is king = to higher prices for less than quality. So you understand why I like my ketchup with it if I ever have any it's nothing like it should be.

The only think I ever order with my steak if im out is Au jus - which is French for "with [its own] juice"- I never add any type of sauces like A1 steak sauce or ketchup. I much like your husband believes it ruins the steak :)

Oh I didn't know that's what Au Jus means. In America we have a packet of "au jus" sauce. I think we must have messed that one up?

I like Ketchup with my steak too, it depends on my mood, sometimes ketchup other times BBQ sauce but I prefer a Hamburger or chicken over steak any day, I'm not a big steak eater maybe course I can never cook it right

I am not a big steak eater either. I personally don't understand the fuss over this cut of meat in it's price seeing like you I'd much rather have chicken or a lower cut of beef like hamburger (though I usually buy ground turkey since it's cheaper and healthier).

A good cut of steak doesn't need any condiment added. A good T=bone cooked correctly doesn't need anything. It can have some seasonings put on before it is cooked and then marinated with something to enhance the flavor. Worchesteshire sauce and pepper and put in the frig for awhile before its cooked can add to the flavor. And no condiments are needed when it is served.

That depends on how tasteful the steak was done. if it was a bit bland, I'd probably pour worcestershire over it or just the Knorr seasoning.

Its hard to mess up a steak. I've had it with ranch before and ketchup. I enjoy the taste of steak though so usually I have it just plain. I do enjoy steak sauce because it gives the steak a bit of a bite to it. I haven't had a good steak in quite a few months and I would enjoy one right now grilled, tender, with some good seasonings on it, yummy!!

I am not a big steak person, but when I do eat steak I eat it plain. Last time I remember eating a steak was a little over a year ago when I went out to a steak place with my old boss for lunch. I don't no much about steak, so he ordered for me. I got a filet I believe. I ate it with just the seasoning that they put on the steak. It was really good.

I like it with steak sauce. Hubby will mix steak sauce with ketchup together and dip it in that sometimes.. he won't eat plain steak sauce.
