Ferrets and sickness?

I had 3 ferrets that got began to show signs of not being themselves. Within hours one had passed away and the next day the other 2 were all but dead. I took them to the Vet and was told they had pnuemonia and would not survive. The family was heart broken and have not been able to bring ourselves to get more. Have you heard of how easy these furry little heart snatchers can get a cold and it turn to pneumonia so quickly?

=( Thats so sad! I would be heartbroken if my lil babies got sick and passed on. I'm so sorry for your loss. I never knew that they could get so sick so fast.

That is so sad. I am sorry to hear about that. I too lost a ferret, but not to an illness...someone let him out of the house and we lived in the country and he was gone. Our hearts were broken too but in a different way. Maybe one day you will be able to get another. Good luck!

I have 8 ferrets. Mine have had colds before, but never had one die from a cold. It is hard how most of them get cancer, diabetes, and other horrible stuff.

I'm sorry to read about your ferrets. We only have one. I did not know they could get sick so quickly. I did know that they could catch colds from humans. We're lucky ours hasn't been sick or anything. He's such a cute little thing.

That's aweful. We've dealt with some bad ferret illnesses before, but nothing that hit so quickly and was so widespread.
I can see why it would be difficult to get some more after that experience. You'll know if and when the time is right to get more!

I am so sorry for your loss. I don't know anything about ferrets. I just wanted to say sorry. I know how it feels to lose a pet.

im really sorry for your loss. i do not know anything about ferrets but i cant even imagine how i would feel if i lost one of my animals. i hope it gets easier for you as time goes on
