Parents of dance students who don't read, then are angry for their own fault

I have been teaching dance, for 40 years. For many years I owned a dance school, too. I have a complaint about SOME parents of dance students (and this not only happens in dance, but in school, sports, etc.).
READ!!
When information is given out, read it, and if you don't understand it, ask.
I HATE the "I never knew," or "You never told me," or "I don't read that stuff," then you are upset with me, or my staff, for your own shortcomings.
If you don't like a policy, remember, dance is an option for your child. If you don't like the cost of something, a costume, a show, anything, it is, once again, OPTIONAL!
It's a business and like any other business, it's our living, our way of feeding, clothing and housing our family, just like your job. Please respect that.
Ok, I am done venting!!

The problem, in the USA, is that children are overbooked, appeased, and spoiled by parents who were the same. Not all, but enough to make us crazy. When I started teaching, this was so rare. 40 years later, it's insane. They need to live their lives with people who have very little, so that they can appreciate all that they have.

Must be tough having to filter constant complaints.
Do you have a Facebook page for your dance lessons to send out notices and reminders? That way parents have another option of getting the reminders and less chances of them not knowing.
Also sending e-mail notices and reminders might help some parents too.. and pretty easy for you to do.

It's understandable to be upset working in that sort of business and people giving you a hassle about prices. As parents, they should want to read and be aware of everything. They, as you said, have an option to have their children in dance classes or something else in their budget. They shouldn't be mad at you or anyone else in your profession.
