So I sent a complain about the messaging setting to Facebook the other day. I told the admins that the setting has made me feel inconvenience. You know what did they reply?
"Thanks for your feedback. We're constantly trying to improve Facebook, and your input is important to us. Unfortunately, we can't respond to individual feedback emails, but we are reading them."
WTF??!!! Am I the only person in the world who feels inconvenience about the new messaging thing????? Unbelievable...

It could be a good thing if someone is trying to find you that you may have been looking for too. Can they if they are blocked?

There's no setting for "only friends". So everybody can send you a message even if there's not on your list.

That's one of the reasons why I don't rely on social sites to communicate with my friends... I think those social sites are over rated... I guess I'm one of the few that still use emails to communicate with friends... Most people I've talked to use emails for either work or business purpose... Sometimes even for shopping on line, like getting receipts emailed to them... Don't get me wrong, I do believe social sites have their places & uses... When was the last time you actually emailed someone? Not for the reasons I've mentioned, shopping & work or business purpose, but just to send & receive messages between you & your friends... I personally think there are too many things going on as far as communication tools go... But that's just me & my friends...

You know, mails are a bit outdated now. Just because Mark Z. isn't in full control of Facebook and many things got messed, it doesn't mean other social networks and communication services are crappy too.
You can always use Skype for anything from a "hi" to a bussiness meeting through the Net.. and I actually think that Skype got even better, when Microsoft bought it!

They won't have enough staff to read individual emails. They need that for moderating when groups are flagged as inappropriate or something illegal going on that needs their action. Also, it's just how it is. They can change whatever they want and people will still use Facebook because it has achieved critical mass.

That's it, you've said it. That's the problem. No matter how I feel about the privacy, people will still use Facebook. And there are people who will still got addicted to it because they like it so much. That's just irritating.

What happened to the new messaging to make it any different? And messaging or instant chat? I have experienced tons of problems with Facebook on my phone but I am never sure if it's Facebook's problem or my phones. Probably my phones, as it is a glitchy Android phone. Ahh well. I'm sure that Facebook gets an overwhelming amount of mail to go through, maybe eventually they will get to yours. It sounds definitely like one of those automated responses though. Kinda makes you seem they don't care, even though it is it's users that generate all of it's income. Hmph!

It's about the messaging. You know that before there was "timeline" feature, we have this privacy setting for messaging. You can set only friends who can send message. And I used to use this setting. But then since there was the timeline, the setting has changed even without me noticing it. Now everybody can send me a message even though they're not on my friend list. I have searched the help center to change the setting, but it's not there.
I know it's automatic, considering there are tons of users in the world, but I really hope that those people will actually do something to make people comfortable again in using Facebook.

Hi,
I don't go to that site often anyway. I have an account there but it months before I open and see them, I have become tired of the whole site years ago so I stopped being there. It is a real mess really especially if my bandwidth is low so I shall contend myself with regular email, which I don't receive much message anyway and my mobile phone which I seldom use too.

i was aware about this too until recently, i was creating a new fb account and would like to add some friends, i visited my father's profile but i cannot find the "add me" button so i decided to send a message and i was surprise that they are charging a fee to be able to send a message. why do they have to implement this kind of thing. i think they should take down this kind of setting,..they should take care of all the users of their site because after all it is because of the users that their site is a success and if they continue to be this, then in the future nobody will want to be on facebook. they should realize this.

Yes, I agree, but we have to realize that there will also be new people every single day who are new users of Facebook who would finally fall in love with Facebook with all of their regulations. So it's kind of difficult to really see people leave Facebook.

Hi friend, sad to hear about their feedback. I think it is their automated message. Hope they will read your message and solve this issue. If a lot of persons complained about the same issue, surely your problem will get high priority and will be solved soon

Are you talking about how people can see if you viewed their messages? I think its a lame setting. I turned my chat off so nothing pops up and people don't assume I read their messages. & i won't physically open them until I know I have time to respond. facebook isn't really worth my time anymore.

Actually, no. What I meant was about the fact that everybody who aren't your friends can still send you a message. Even if you have set your privacy only to friends, it doesn't work for the message.

Hi Miss Piggy: I am sorry to know that you have received such a generic message as a response. I think that's even more frustrating because, at least you expect that they would care about the problem and that they will try to do something to fix it. I hope more people will send them more complaints so they find you are not the only one who thinks the service must improve.
