The official end of Microsoft's support for Windows XP is coming in a year, an event that MS has been reminding the world is coming for some time, especially businessess. The OS launched October 25, 2001, over 11 years ago, but MS has insisted that one year from now, on April 8,2014 Win XP will get no software updates or bug fixes.
Yet, even with this deadline looming, there are still a lot of PCs out there that are running this OS, long after MS launched 3 major Windows updates (Vista in 2007, 7 in 2009 & 8 in 2008). The latest numbers from Net Applications from March 2013 show that XP is still installed on 38.73% of all PCs worldwide.
While it's tru that Win XP has been in decline in terms of its worldwide market share for sometime, it's looking like that when April 8.2014 arrives, many large businesses won't have updated their PCs to Win 7 or Win 8. The Telegraph reports that, according to a survey from software management company Camwood, less than half of all large businessess have even started the upgrade process from XP to at least Windows 7.
Is everyone here that still use Windows XP?

I don't use XP any more because you can't buy a new computer with it on it. I suspect that's the only reason a lot of users switched. I went from Windows XP to Vista then to Windows 7 and I still prefer XP.
It irritates me that they keep changing operating systems, trying to get "better" while the old systems still work quite well. Who asked for an upgrade, anyway? Probably not the customers (or at least, not many).

I agree that windows XP are still a very good OS. But i think that the windos 7 is almost that good. I never liked Vista, and i think i will never like 8! :P
I just don't get the complete change on the lay out..What do they have on mind? :O

The computer I'm using still has windows xp. It actually belongs to my dad and he won't allow me to upgrade it for some reason. Something to do with a program he needs for work.

Hmm I think you should be asking anyone here who still use Windows XP? Most people would say no cuz they are either using Vista,7 or 8.

No doubt Win XP was pretty good but Win 7 is a gazillion times better than XP.

Well, the question was something like a little survey :)
I use Windows 7 too, but I am an admirer of XP.

I was on windows XP until 2010ish. Then I had the free update to Vista, which of course isn't as good as XP, but I haven't had many problems with it.
XP was a great OS, and I'm sure many businesses will find it frustrating to switch, but it won't be that big of a deal, and XP will still work fine after support for it has ended, at least for a time. It will fall victim to a series of viruses I'm sure once hackers see the potential for all those computers still using XP though. Either way, Windows 7 is perfectly fine and I'm sure no one will have trouble switching to it.
Just wanted to point out that, although Windows 8 development started in 2008/09, it wasn't released until last year.

Well, I think I am going to agree with you.
Off the record now, what OS are you using now? I am using windows 7 and i am very happy with them!
I am bit of reluctant to switch to 8. I just didn't liked the changes..What do you think?

I have Vista on my one computer (it auto-updated from XP during an update) and Win8 on my new computer which came with Win8. At first I didn't like the changes but I'm used to it now, mostly, and it is actually a good OS, if you ignore the learning curve that comes along with it. It is a lot faster than previous Windows.

My schools main lab is all windows xp. I do not really think anyone uses it anymore. Most computers have skipped windows vista and went straight to windows 7. I am on a windows 8 and right now they are doing a lot of updates. So instead of going back i think that they should just do the present ones. I think Microsoft launched its last update at the start of the week for windows xp.

Windows 8? Oh...I really don't like them at all.. What is your point of view for the windows 8? Do you like them? Or you still prefer the 7 like me? :)

I think the world is ready for this. Windows XP needs no more updates. Especially Windows 7 and 8 is getting more popular these days. I don't know if children these days knows about Windowx XP existence. Windows XP was one of the most stable windows version ever created by microsoft. But everything ends, so basically we need to focus on the new one.

I will agree with you in the part that xp is a very good OS. But, i dont think that the parts needed for a win 7 supported PC are too expensive..You need a processor and ram. (minimum)

Hi,
A few days ago, I have Win XP on my desktop PC but when I upgraded to 2GB of RAM, I was able to install Win 7 64-bit, a lot of improvement over the 32-bit XP. Now my PC runs faster with the dual processor being able to operate to their fullest capacity. I may not say goodbye to Windows XP yet, I like how certain apps go well with it but I am content with my present set up, I may run compatibility mode when the need arises.

Well, that's a good solution :) Although, windows 7 is the best ms os at the moment. And if everyone seems to be looking like the windows 8, i will never change 7 :D
