Motivation

So I'm a student who can't seem to get motivated to revise or do homework or anything. Anyone got any good ideas on how to motivate myself? Any techniques?

When I have to study and find it hard to motivate myself, there are are a couple of things that like to do. I like to listen to music while I am studying and I also make sure that I have something to drink (usually coffee or water). I am a big coffee lover and it is easier for me to focus on my studies if I drink coffee while I am studying. I also think that it is important to take small breaks. If I study for many hours without a break I tend to lose my motivation, but if I take small breaks where I am able to relax, play an online game, write some messages to a friend etc I get new energy and it is much easier to focus on my studies when I return.

It is a good idea which works better and should be adopted by every student for motivation as the friendship of bright student makes you very interested and motivated in your field of studies.

Motivation is possible when the mind is calm and col and relaxed. In order to motivate yourself to do homework, you would have to do something which interested you a lot, anything about which you are passionate. It may be reading a good story book or listening to some music or going for a short walk.

You can give yourself little rewards for doing more homework & -little punishments for not doing enough homework

Hi there. No one can help you, if you are determinant about your studies. These motivation words by others may work for you only for a few days or so, but if you want a life time motivation, it should be created inside you. Just imagine, when you will reach your goals, when you will get top grades, or whatever is your dream to achieve... How your parents, family, friends, will be proud of your achievements... Feel your goal is already reached... And now work hard for your goal... good luck.. god bless...

Yes, I think keeping your goals in mind is a good start. If you haven't any goals then start there. Whenever I have a whole house to clean I think to myself, "Just do it already!" Before I know it I am done. Of course I reward myself for a job well done!

Listening to music can help, but for some people that only distracts them (I listen to soundtrack music so I don't get distracted with singing along). But I know your pain, I had three term papers to write over the weekend and every time I turned on my computer, I'd be like "NOPE." But for me, I will take something I like doing - for example, drawing - and give tiny rewards to myself after doing a portion of work. So like, I would write a paragraph or two, then flip over to some art software and continue coloring my picture. I'd color for a few minutes, then get to a stopping point and go back to the work. Write a couple more paragraphs, then go color a bit more. For my longer papers (one had to be 8 pages, single spaced!) I would reward myself by word count - for every 100 words I typed, I'd give myself 2 minutes doing something I wanted, like coloring or checking Tumblr. But that may not work for everyone, because I know some people can't bounce between work mode and play mode so quickly and may lose their train of thought... but that definitely helps me! :3

My son in high school was like that. But we, his parents, teachers, and advisers, keep encouraging him what his potentials are. Eventually, he realizes that he needs to start having some motivation and one thing that helped him was taking extra revision or tuition courses during school holidays.

The basic things to get motivated are the love with your books, love with your studies. Make a solid plan after your studies and strict to that. Watch motivational movies, listen songs of this nature and you would surely be motivated.

Everyone should motivate himself. We shouldn't expect others to motivate us. This is your school life/college life. This decides your future. So you should take care about your studies. None cares for your life other than you. Keep this in your mind. This will motivate you

List down your goals in a piece of paper? Add "deadly" deadlines so you would not procrastinate. Remember, things do not happen just because you want them. :))

Hey vampiricchild, as a student myself, I understand exactly what the problem is that you're facing. That feeling when you want to do some homework or revision, but your mind isn't there and you start to lose focus. What I did which improved my focus and motivation was to force myself at the table, making sure I read or write whatever it is I have to WHILE listening to instrumental music like, guitar melodies, classical symphonies or solo piano. Don't listen to songs with vocals and lyrics, it distracts you in the end. My personal favorite are compositions from Yiruma, try it. I would love to hear what you think about it. :)
