Why are we judged by the color of our skin or by our religion? I worked at a place , not going to mention any names but It was horrible. I was new and in my opinion I was a minority. I am a white female and I was treated like crap. I did make a few friends there , one was from Africa and the other was from Egypt, very nice people but they saw me for the person I am inside not the color of my skin or my religion. When I meet someone for the first time I don't see color I see personality first if I don't like a person, it's not because of their color, it's because I have a problem with something they do or the way they act. I have actually served people who would not talk to me because of my skin color. Why???

racism because ppl only stick to where they belong..ppls will always think dat their own type is the best...dat is what has been passed down fr their ancestors...maybe long long time ago, their ancestor had problems with certain race..n so it began...spreading bad rumors so dat that race would b hated.... but nowadays racism is not dat much anymore just some small percentage compare to 20 to 30 years ago...
Everybody does experienced of u experienced...so it's not a uncommon thing...when they stared at u like u hav some kinda disease...just ignore them...why bother n angry about it...save dat!! they're not worth ur anger....n i also believe not everyone is racism...u'll soon find ur own true friend...so chill up...keep cool...show to them dat u r a friendly, indiscriminate human being..u will b appreciated someday....

Here's my humble opinion: most people who are racist either feel like they've been dealt a bad hand in life and are deserving of "more", or are unsatisfied with themselves. If a person is truly happy with him/herself, beliefs, and achievements, they don't seek out people different from themselves to torment, just because they are different. Racist people are the equivalent of the school yard bully. Aside:
The University I attended (back in the day) had a pcychology professor who studied differences among the races, including intelligence, memory, athletic ability and genetic abnormalities/anomilies. His research is still used to justify racist beliefs, even though that was not at all his intention. He believed that yes, there were differences, but ultimately, they should not matter to people. Just because one group of people may have evolved differently based on their physical location does not make anyone "better" than another-we are all suited to live where we live and how we live today. And the gap between "how we live" based on where we live is closing rapidly. Even if we were all the same, there would be someone who sought to make themselves "better" because of even the smallest differences.

It seems like the minority with issues of their own predjudice from what ever reason they came to them in the first place seem to have the majority of the say.
These judgemental people are bullies. Bullies are only good while they are stronger than you and have power over you. They usually run around in packs with other people whom have their own low self esteem issues. They will pick on a person/s who are on their own or maybe one other because it makes them look big when you are frightened of them, and they can scare you.
Bullies single out people whom they can humiliate, scare, steal from to name a few - they taunt the person with their weakness of colour, overweight, nerdie, too tall, too skinny, too short etc.
Unfortunately these people whom the bullies taunt are already in the weakened mind set from other people and also from their own perception of themselves so they are easy targets.
You have to learn to stand up to bullies but until the person whom is being bullied can overcome their own weakness feelings of failure etc and see themselves above what a bully sees in them that they can rise up above the bullies taunting there will always be a powerstruggle.

There are alot of tags put on the natives, one of my best friends is native and I grew up with native families in my neighborhood. Your right not every one is the same and people need to realize that and see personality. I agree with you they are not all bad.
Thanks for posting

Bigotry has many justifications, but in my opinion has no reason or excuse. Racism is a form of bigotry that occurs when the predominent class in a given area marginalizes all other classes for no other reason than the fact that the color of their skin is not the same as the predominant group. It is stupid, it keeps us from meeting and appreciating people who we could have a cherished friends all our lives.
Why do people hate? Ignorance, fear, and because they can.

I have no idea.I had a hard time when I came to Ohio state.I came to Ohio at the fist place in USA.
The place where I live was like...no asian type place.
Lots of teenager kids were pointed at me and say "Look at the yellow chinese!(first I am not a chinese)" and their parents were giggling as well.
I also had a hard time speaking English and lots of people laughed at me and called me stupid.
My ex husband were horrible.he didn't care even though I was called as "stupid asian" and his cousins treated me like trash whenever they see me.They were mostly girls.one of his cousin said asian is ugly and stuff and I told him what has happened but he's got mad by hearing a bad thing about his cousin and never tried to believe my word...
Sometimes I had to ask him to repeat what he said it because I wasn't good at understanding. He always got upset and one time he told me that "We America doesn't want asian people who doesn't wanna speak English.Go back to your country, stupid!" and he often told me that people who is from asia and cannot speak correct English are stupid.
I've got divorced and I moved from Ohio to New York.I feel so much better in here becuase there is more mixed people here in New York.I don't really get that much weird feeling now.

good thing that guy is you EX,, he has no right to treat anyone like that. It is really too bad that people see only color and not the person.. there are some really good people that are being treated like crap and all because of the color of their skin.
Canada is becoming really bad at least in my part of the country. For 40 years I have been saying Merry Christmas and now i am told that I cannot say merry christmas because it offends some people.and I can't ask for a black coffee. What is this world coming too???

Thanks, but all i see is it getting worse, I now live in a very small farming community , where every one knows every one and I love it. When I go into the city , I am stressed , people not smiling , rude, always in a hurry. I love the small farming community, every one helps each other and it is very laid back.

Racism is caused by ignorance. People don't take the time to get to know enough about their world and their neighbors. Your neighbors are not just the people who live in the houses on your same street. They are all the people in the world.
I am of mixed race, caucasian and oriental. My parents met in a camp for migrant pickers in the state of New York. Everyday they cared for the children of people whose parents went in hot sun in crowded trucks to pick crops for farmers. The children were afro american. My parents fell in love and decided to marry, but were not married until two years later when they finished university. They have a picture of themselves with about half a dozen of the migrant picker's children on their laps and crowded around and say those were "our first children".
As you can see I was raised with alot of tolerance.
My father gave me a great example and a memory by being present for a freedom march with Martin Luther King in Boston. I have known and been close friends with people of races and religions. I went to Kenya in 1977 and I was a minority there among Arabs and Africans. I datd a Moslem while I was there and we were very fond of each other. I dated a Jewish boy in the summer before I went away to college. Love and friendship don't know any colors or cultures.
Dogs and cats come in many different colors and shapes yet they all treat each other the same.
I also wonder often, why is there so much suspicion and stereotyping in the world. Why can't we just be in peace as friends?
