You block me and you want me to like your post!!!!

I find this crazy. If you are blocked you cannot respond but you can like the posts of the blocker. Which saint here will do that? Have you been blocked and you have generously 'liked' the posts of those who have blocked you? How about just unliking?
One good thing is the blocker also cannot respond to your posts. The 'report' button is also there intact. Some relief this

A person would have to REALLY get up my nose for me to block them. If I was blocked by someone I would want to know why so I could work out the problem. Life is too short for pettiness.

If you are blocked, you can indeed like the original discussions of the person who blocked you, multiple times, but the system only registers the first like. Further un-likes and re-likes did not produce a notification.

I've never had occasion to use the 'Block' button and I'm not sure whether anyone has blocked me, so I don't have first-hand experience of the way it works. What you say is interesting, however.
Although the blocked person can't respond to any of your posts (discussions, responses or comments) and can't message you, they CAN still respond or comment in the same discussion as you (and, I believe, can still 'mention' you in a post by using the 'at' symbol before your username). If you really are still having trouble with someone you have blocked (from personal slights/comments/'flaming', &c.) you should definitely report those instances.
I was hoping that I'd be able to find a list of those who have blocked me and of those that I've blocked. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be available. Maybe @goaskalice could comment on that - and possibly add it to the 'wants' list?

@allknowing It COULD be unintentional, of course. Unfortunately, you cannot message them to ask why! I'm not sure there is an easy way of finding out. How important is that person to you, anyway?

It is the other way around. Someone has blocked me. And I do not even know why. I suppose they should first take permission from Admin or give reason why they would want to block anyone.

i hope it doesn't happen here but i was actually asked by a person on another site not to comment or come to her discussions, which was making her money from my comments, reading, etc. and i had never said anything wrong to her nor did she ever give me a reason for her request. luckily later on they allowed blocking which i did her for sure.

I have been blocked so far just once , again for no reason. That does not have any effect on our participation here as if you do not break rules and contribute positively which I do there is no reason to be bothered about it.

She wasn't very bright! The old mylotians will tell you, a LOT of people would post discussions that were down right rude JUST to get lots of comments and money! In a way, their enemies were giving them money LOL!

There is only one person that I know of on this site that I would not respond to in any way.... She caused me a lot of trouble before and also a friend or five. Lucky for me, some saw the light and others stood up for me. It truly showed me who to trust.
Anyway, I would carry on as I always do. If I liked something someone said, I would hit the like button. I can agree with someone while not being on their good side. I don't have the strength for stupid, petty stuff.

I have one person here that I will not be speaking to in any way either because she has been truly hateful to me. I don't have time for rudeness at all, especially when I try to be nice to everyone I come in contact with-online or off.

It would interesting to know if anyone has ever blocked me at some time.
Since you say that you can still like a post then I assume that you can still view and read the post but not add a comment. This feature would only be of use for blocking spammers or those who add abusive comments, for which it would make more sense to report them rather than simply block them.

I have no idea if I've ever been blocked. How do you find that out/ When you try to message someone or comment on their posts or comments? How does blocking differ from permissions? For example, I may stipulate that only people I follow can message me, but that would not block them in other ways.

I'd be interested to know how permissions work, too. It's probably easily as complicated as file/folder permissions in Unix (which I did study once, but have mostly forgotten).
It seems that you can only discover that you have been blocked when you come across a discussion you can't respond to or a response you can't comment on or try to message someone and find you can't. Almost always there will be no reason given because the act of blocking requires no reason (and, indeed, giving a reason may open a whole new avenue of argument in some cases).
I have never been an advocate of blocking (for just the reasons outlined above) but I can understand why it's sometimes necessary for some people.

Same here. I have never been blocked or blocked someone. I never use that function because it's ok to have a opinion that doesn't go on my way. None of us are perfect. So even if that idea doesn't go in my way, that could be right.
I prefer you send this person a messege. Ask that person why he/she blocked you. Work this problem out that way.

@allknowing I'm sorry I didn't know that. I have never been in a situation like this. Just ignore that person. I don't think he means something special to you. So all you need to do is exactly what he need you to do. Stay out of his business. I personally don't like to keep an any kind of connection with people like that. So ignore him.

Since I am new, I have not yet been blocked by anyone. But if so happens in future, I would like to know from that person, the reason I was blocked for. Ans then, respond accordingly. Because, I may have knowingly or unknowingly committed a mistake.

Much water has flown under the bridge since this post (lol) Lots has happened since then, in that this person is now blocked by me for reasons known to that user.
