My Sunday Afternoon

With nothing planned and raining outside, I was just going to relax at home. My 19-year-old son came downstairs ready to go out. He said he's going to the bookstore in the city or downtown. I thought he was going with his brother or perhaps a friend. But he was going to go by himself. To my surprise, he asked if I wanted to go with him. I said yes and got myself ready right away before he changed his mind . Then the two of us left to look for some reference books for his Graphic Design course. It turned out to be a wonderful afternoon. We browsed the bookstore for almost two hours. Then we had a late lunch together. I was just enjoying every moment with him feeling blessed that he didn't seem to mind being seen walking together with his mom - he even held the umbrella for me.

Thanks! He often surprises others for still saying 'Thank you' to people he interacts with in public. I guess many don't expect much of that from teenagers anymore...

My kids are grown, married, and have kids of their own, so I do miss the times we spent together when they were still living at home. They grow up far to soon. Enjoy the time you have with them, as they will leave the nest eventually. Take care, and have a great day.

That is so sweet! That's the kind of relationship I hope I have with my kids when they grow up - that they won't mind hanging out with mom - that they actually DO want to hang out with dear ol' mom!

And yes, it is a blessed feeling as I read your discussion. I know some brats who will never ever even think doing what your son did on this special sunday.

It sounds like a quiet but eventful Sunday afternoon. I rarely get time to go out, but always like company as outside of work I tend to be super busy and don't get to see many people.

@sishy7 Good to see you too :p Trying to get back into the routine of MyLot again. I completely agree you cherish it more when it doesn't happen all the time. I went out with a friend last night, some people it may seem like a few hours of chatting but to me it meant more.

He drove and paid for his own books. I paid for lunch . Exactly! It's just not practical for me to be the one holding the umbrella - he realized that .
