Are you careful not to waste food?

A lot of food goes waste in our home and restaurants. People leave so much uneaten food on their plates. I have seen that guests pile up food on their own and their children's plates and then leave it uneaten. Lots of cold drinks also go waste because young children cannot finish a 300ml bottle. I always tell my children to put a little food on their plate and they can have second helpings later. I also try not to buy too many tins even if there's a discount. How do you tackle foodwaste in your household?

We try not to waste anything. We have a circle of friends that we share what we can't or won't use. We are all living on very little income so it makes sense to share. We share food, clothes, and help.

I hate it when I give a party and parents come with their children and take out loads of food for kids and then it goes to waste. This also happens with drinks as well. My cousin was the worlds worst for this. She would give her 6 year old a cup that grown-ups would use instead of something smaller. Around 75% of the time she would spill it. I don't take out more than I can eat and I normally fix my kids plates so I don't give them so much at one time. I will say that if we have left overs or scraps they go to our dog as a nice treat for her.

I know exactly what you mean. I have seen parents pile up cake, sandwiches, French fries on their children's plates with loads of ketchup and the children hardly touch them after a few initial bites. when we go out, I always order 4-5 dishes for 6 of us so that no food goes waste,

There are just the two of us here. We try to only cook what we need and to have a dish a second time if there is a lot. I will also freeze left overs.

I never waste any food, normally we have rotis , rice and vegetables for our meals and I make it a point to make just the enough number of rotis and rice leftover can be refrigerated and used for the next meal, so also veggies and dhal and other stuff that I have cooked. So, there is absolutely no wastage of food in my house

I try not to waste food. If I have leftovers, I stick it in the fridge and eat it the next day. I can't justify wasting food when there are tons of people out there who can't afford to eat.

I'm conscious about food waste also. I don't have to worry about my son, he's like a garbage disposal and doesn't waste anything, but I've repeatedly asked my daughter not to waste food. Even when the dog doesn't eat all her food, I just mix it with the food I make for her the next day. I guess folks don't know the value in not wasting food until they experience what it is like to do without.

With the youger children I only give them a little bit to start off with. They can always have more.
