Is this a hideous, heartless, psychotic monster or the best ever?

Who am I talking about? The God of the Bible.
If you will ask an atheist about it, he/she will tell you that God is the worst, hideous, heartless, psychotic monster ever.
But if you will ask a believer, he/she will tell you that God of the Bible is the best ever: the most kind an just being ever.
So, which one is right?

if you ask an atheist he won't describe god as a monster at all, he will tell you god is simply not real. and I don't think all believers believe god is the best thing ever....god can be cruel, but always forgiving if you want to be forgiven

Atheists say that the God of the Bible (that does not exist, in their opinion) is a (fictional) monster.

we probably know very different Atheists, never heard that. not that they say god is amazing, but never heard anything bad from them either. heard more 'monster" talk from religious people ( monster is a bad word here but oh well)

My God isn't mean or evil or all of anything. He's more like a dad that is just doing what he can the best way he knows how.... along with his "wife' Mother Nature.
I think a lot of people don't think that the bible is a very good guide to life anymore. It has good things to teach but there are very dark and not nice things in it as well.
I also think that any religious book or religion itself that is used for control is a bad thing in a lot of people's eye.

Ah, one of my favorite topics! God created us, therefore he is Father, and we are his children. Children act up and disobey sometimes as was in the Old Testement/Torah. As a loving Father, he disiplined the children when they did wrong, to teach them something.
I don't see God as a mean bully, I see him as a loving Father who on occasion, will punish his children when they need it. But he does it in love and for a reason.
